The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood-Chapter 359
When Michelle stirred awake, she felt a nice cool sensation on her body.
It was the familiar effect the Everfrost Mantle had on her.
Opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was that familiar handsome face above her.
And a bit unusual, Alexander’s eyes were closed.
"Even the great Dark Lord has to sleep...?" she murmured, lifting her hand to touch Alexander’s face.
It was warm, but not hot.
Alexander’s eyes opened.
"Everybody enjoys a nap every now and then." He held Michelle’s hand on his face.
"Or am I not allowed that?"
Michelle chuckled at that.
"How could I dare forbid something from the Dark Lord?" she trailed her fingers along Alexander’s cheek to the side of his face before moving up to touch his temple.
"I’m a mere mortal..." she added teasingly, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
She was in a good mood because her Everfrost Mantle was fixed and Alexander was even kind enough to put it on her while she slept.
Alexander pulled Michelle up to sit on his lap instead of lying down.
"Since when are beings ignored by the Heavenly Law mere mortals?" he asked with a smirk as he pulled her to him, so her back was against his chest.
"And since I’m the Dark Lord, you, as the Dark Lord’s lover, are far from an ordinary mortal..." he added as he lowered his head to press his lips to Michelle’s neck, the words a tickle against her skin.
"That sounds like you don’t even consider yourself the Dark Lord..." Michelle leaned against Alexander, not pulling away from his touch.
"Does the Dark Lord want to discard his responsibilities?" she asked with a smile.
She wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if, with how Alexander always acted, he suddenly decided he had enough of the Dark Palace.
For him, discarding that identity wouldn’t even be all that hard because he was the invisible Dark Lord, and no one except David Elether and the shadow guards could recognize him.
As long as he threw them off, the identity of the invisible Dark Lord would be gone.
That would be quite the nasty way to throw all responsibility on David, because he would have to take care of the mess then.
"I don’t have any responsibility in the Dark Palace in the first place," Alexander reached around Michelle to take a hold of her hands, intertwining their fingers.
"David was smart enough to not give me any, knowing I would just dump it on him."
Michelle tilted her head to the side to look at Alexander.
"Then why have you gone to the Dark Palace and heavenly realm while I was in the lower and middle realm?" she felt a bit confused.
If Alexander had no responsibilities in the Dark Palace, why did he go there?
The explanation was actually quite simple.
"The Dark Palace was formed around the time I went down to the Land of Exile, and had a Council of Elders who were constantly on my back, nagging me, thinking they held authority over me. So I went to deal with them and make a new hierarchy system."
"And David had no complaints about the changes?" Michelle was still confused.
Alexander was in the heavenly realm for quite a while, so the changes he made must have been big.
Surely David wouldn’t let that go unnoticed.
Alexander shook his head.
"He himself was quite annoyed with the Elders, so he didn’t mind the bloodshed," he spoke casually, like talking about the weather, even though he was talking about restructuring an organization that drove fear deep into anyone who even heard about it.
"All he cared about was that I make sure the place stayed in order. The basic rule is that if one of us creates a mess, we don’t leave it for the other to clean up. It works like that between everyone on the same rank."
Listening to Alexander explain how the Dark Palace worked, Michelle quite liked it.
The structure was nice, giving Alexander direct command even over the lowest rankers, while he didn’t have to worry about them.
That was because there weren’t that many ranks.
Just a few.
And they were enough to keep the whole palace in order that brought about fear.
Many people thought that the Dark Palace was huge, and that was why it was so formidable and fearsome, but in reality, that was far from the truth.
Those were just myths.
The Dark Palace’s power was in the discipline of the shadow guards along with their individual competence.
And that coupled with the fact that the shadow guards were divided into the invisible and visible division, one for stealth, and the other for raw power, they were a legendary force.
Not to mention, under a competent commander, their power rose significantly.
While talking with Alexander, Michelle barely noticed the time pass.
She would be able to talk with him for hours, but the time didn’t allow it.
Soon, someone would be sent to the guest teacher’s courtyard to get Alexander to come to the headmaster’s office.
If he wasn’t there by then, it could cause trouble in the plan.
So, noticing the time, Alexander got off Michelle’s bed.
Seeing him about to leave, Michelle stopped him.
She stretched her hands out and wrapped them around his neck, pulling him closer to her.
Then, when she deemed he was close enough, Michelle leaned over and pressed her lips to his.
Alexander wasn’t expecting that, but that didn’t mean the kiss displeased him.
Quite the opposite.
His eyes narrowed and he tangled one of his hands in the hair on the back of Michelle’s head, returning the kiss.
At the same time, he moved his other hand to rest beside Michelle on the bed as she was sitting there.
When the two finally pulled apart, Alexander touched his lips with a slight smile.
"At this rate, you’ll make me ruin that pretty plan of yours..."
Michelle let out a laugh when she heard that.
"You don’t even know the full extent of the plan, so how can you be sure you could ruin it?"
Alexander leaned closer, looming above Michelle.
"Unless you want the whole academy to know the Dark Lord has laid a claim on you, you better watch your mouth," there was a dangerous glint in his eyes as he spoke.
Michelle pushed Alexander to take a step back, so she could stand up.
"And how can you be sure that isn’t exactly what I want?" she had a grin on her face.
Alexander felt like grabbing the brat in front of him again.
But if he did it, he knew he wouldn’t let go again for a long time.
So he didn’t.
"I’ll go back now... You should make sure your plan goes smoothly, whatever it is you want."
Michelle nodded with a grin. "Don’t worry. It will go as I want."
As she spoke, she pushed Alexander towards the window, giving his abs a few squeezes in the process.
Alexander let Michelle push him, his eyes lowering to look down at her hands.
"Satisfied?" he asked with a slight smirk.
Michelle moved her hands from Alexander’s abs to his chest, moving her gaze to Alexander’s face.
"Very much so, actually!" she didn’t even bother to hide her grin.
Alexander really felt like grabbing Michelle and pulling her to him.
And things wouldn’t end there.
Still, Alexander knew it was time for him to return to the courtyard, so he stepped back from Michelle and went to open the window.
This time, Michelle didn’t stop him and let Alexander leave.
It was needed for the plan.
When Alexander was gone, Michelle stretched her body and went to the bathroom to wash up.
Then, she changed into fresh clothes and went to training her shadow essence.
She was expecting that soon, someone would come to call her to the council building, but until then, she had nothing much to do.
So she trained even though she already had better control than she had when she was still in the middle realm.
She had gotten that extent of control back and even surpassed it.
Naturally, all of that was because of the training Alexander had put her through.
Michelle trained for a while before she heard a knock on the door.
Retracting the shadow essence she had summoned, she got up and walked to the door.
Upon opening it, she saw a familiar face.
"Eleanor? What are you doing here?" she raised a brow.
Seeing Michelle, safe and sound, Eleanor heaved a sigh of relief.
Though the teachers were trying to keep Michelle’s disappearance under wraps, as the disciple of Marcus, and Michelle’s Senior Sister, Eleanor naturally knew.
"Master called you to the headmaster’s office," Eleanor spoke after a moment.
Since Marcus had told her to go call Michelle, she knew she was back in the academy, but still, it wasn’t until she saw her that she was finally relieved.
After Eleanor spoke, Michelle wasn’t all that surprised.
She expected someone to come call, she just didn’t know who it would be.
But at the same time, she somehow knew that the teachers wouldn’t come for her personally.
That would confuse the students and cause unnecessary chaos.
