The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.-Chapter 194: Slapping Daniel
"What was that all about? You know how much Daniel hates it when you call him brother," Bradon said to Ashton as soon as they walked into the elevator.
Ashton didn’t answer immediately. His carefree smile was nowhere to be seen, replaced by a deep, serious look that was hard to read.
He walked out of the elevator silently, not waiting for his father, and froze in his place suddenly when he felt like he saw someone familiar.
Ashton quickly turned around before rushing in the direction. However, no one was there when he walked there.
"Ashton, what’s going on? You are acting weirdly," Brandon followed his son, who shook his head.
"It’s nothing. I was just confused about something," the man said.
Though Brandon didn’t believe his son, after meeting with Daniel, he was already in a bad mood and didn’t want to inquire further or pester anyone.
At the same time, Elara, who had arrived at the hospital with George and Logan, walked straight to the elevator, hundreds of questions swirling in her head.
She didn’t know what she would say to the man or how she would react to his accident. Her mind was a complete mess with what to believe and not to believe.
The ding sound of the elevator pulled her out of her thoughts, and she took a deep breath.
"Elara," George called out her name, and the girl nodded before taking a step forward.
"Miss Elara!" Alen asked in exclamation, his surprise and happiness turning to horror and fear as soon as his gaze met her cold, steel one.
"Sir was about to contact you—" Alen started, but one look from Elara was enough for him to shut up.
He knew not to mess with her when she was angry. The sight of her pushing that hot iron rod in Sean’s mouth was still fresh in his head, and he swallowed hard.
Elara looked at her brother, who opened the door to the VIP ward.
Already irritated by the fact that he couldn’t talk to Elara because Alen took the laptop away, Daniel was about to lash out at whoever dared to disrupt his sleep again when he froze in his place.
"Elara—" he whispered in shock.
Elara stood at the entrance, her expression neutral as she took in his appearance.
Sylvia’s gaze moved to the woman in the center, whom George and Logan Frost accompanied.
A wide smile spread across Daniel’s face immediately, and he was about to speak when Elara walked to him and slapped him hard across the face.
Everyone in the room froze at her actions.
Sylvia immediately stepped forward, her pistol in her hand, ready to shoot Elara because of her actions, when, to her surprise, ten men stepped forward. They stood around Elara protectively, pointing their guns at Sylvia, who looked like a possible threat to their boss.
However, that wasn’t what shocked her.
It was the fact that even Alen and Kael had their guns drawn at her that shocked her.
Elara was no better. She had swiftly pulled George’s gun from his pocket and pointed it back at Sylvia’s head, her eyes dark and filled with a storm that had been brewing since she saw that photo.
Since the woman standing before her was the exact woman, Elara didn’t see any problem in ending her life if she was going to pose a threat to her relationship.
Sylvia swallowed hard. Just who was this woman who was not only protected by her people but their people, too?
On the other side, rather than getting angry or offended, Daniel bobbed his head up and down before smiling even wider because she was here to meet him.
"I deserve that," he said, and Elara raised her hand to slap him again, but stopped mid-action.
"You’d better have a good explanation for the stunt you pulled, or you are dead meat," Elara threatened, and Daniel pursed his lips into a thin line.
"Just a slap? No kisses or hugs for Daddy?" Daniel blinked his eyes innocently.
Elara gritted her teeth at his words, but most importantly at how nonchalant he looked when she had been losing her mind over his health, and was about to give him a fitting reply when Logan cleared his throat.
"Mr. Frost, I didn’t see you there," Daniel said.
"Of course, you didn’t." Logan stretched out with an awkward glare, and George bit the inside of his cheeks to stop himself from smiling like a fool.
"You said he was in a vegetative state. I see him talking just fine. Was that your way of bringing me here?" Elara looked at George, and the man raised his hand in a plea of innocence.
"I didn’t know he was awake," George said.
"Our boss gained consciousness an hour ago. He should be resting rather than—"
Sylvia started in her arrogant tone to establish who was close and important to Daniel.
Everyone around Daniel who worked in the main branch and knew about Elara shook their heads at her, but Sylvia ignored them.
She thought she was doing the right thing by reminding the guests to wait outside, completely disregarding years of friendship between the Frost and Macros’ group.
"Sylvia—" Alen opened his mouth to stop his sister, but it was too late.
Elara turned to Sylvia with arched brows. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Did I ask you?" She asked.
Sylvia narrowed her eyes, not liking the way Elara was looking down on her. She turned to look at Daniel, who never allowed anyone to disrespect her based on gender, but then she saw how the man was silent. Sylvia pursed her lips.
"Hey, I am just looking out for our boss—"
Elara looked at Daniel, who had been silent since earlier, and raised her brows.
She didn’t say anything and didn’t feel the need to.
She wasn’t going to reenact what she used to do when she was married to Andrew. If the man couldn’t side with her, he wasn’t worth the effort.
She turned around as if ready to leave.
"Elara, where are you going?" Daniel asked, confused.
Elara looked at him briefly.
"Didn’t you hear your secretary? You need rest. I am giving you that. I was worried something happened to you, but you look just fine. The purpose of coming here is over," Elara said before she turned to George and told him she would be waiting for him in the car.
She had only taken one step when she heard some shuffling from behind her before someone grabbed her hand and pulled her back.
"If my wife leaves, how will I get better?" Daniel’s words shocked his team.
They knew their boss was serious about Elara, but calling her his wife in the open like this was also indirectly announcing her status to the base in Italy.
Sylvia watched the man in shock.
What did he call her? His wife?
Elara struggled against his grip, but to her shock, he pulled her up bridal style, not even caring about how it affected the IV needle in his hand, and blood started to flow backwards in the pipe.
The sight made Elara grit her teeth. She didn’t want to turn soft so soon, but seeing him like this, how could she stay angry for long?
