Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Marcus

Marcus woke up as he did every morning—cheerful and full of energy.

Right now, he was aboard a ship bound for the continent of Elarith.

With a quick motion, he jumped out of bed.

His cabin was small and simple—just a bed and a nightstand, nothing else.

To use the bathroom, he had to go to the public bath, which is exactly where he was headed now.

’Two months of vacation left. I’m going to make the most of them—with the people I care about the most. After my shower, I’ll go find Laziel, Garron, and Clara. I need to thank them again for inviting me to dinner at the restaurant yesterday.’

Marcus arrived at the communal bath.

He entered the men’s section—which was already pretty full.

But that didn’t bother him. In fact, it made him smile.

Marcus enjoyed being around people. The more, the better.

While scrubbing his back, he struck up a light conversation with an older man nearby—chatting easily, as if they were old friends.

After finishing his shower, he returned to his cabin and got dressed.

’Alright—time to go see the others.’

This morning, they had planned to eat at one of the outdoor cafés on the ship’s upper deck.

When Marcus arrived, he spotted their table right away.

There was Garron, flexing his biceps proudly in front of a very unimpressed Laziel.

’Laziel seems to have recovered well.’

After the incident with Lereus, Laziel had been depressed for several weeks.

Even though he had acted under the effects of blood magic, it had weighed heavily on him. But now... he looked much better.

And sitting nearby was Clara.

To Marcus, she was the most beautiful girl in the world.

’Soon... I’ll confess to her.’

Marcus walked up to their table with his usual grin.

"Good morning!!"

The greetings came back one after another.

"Morning," Garron said.

"Hey," Laziel added.

"Good morning, Marcus. Did you sleep well?" Clara asked, smiling.

"Yep, yep—slept great," Marcus replied cheerfully.

After a few minutes of chatting casually, it was Laziel—as always, the one who used his head the most in the group—who finally spoke up, curiosity in his voice.

"So, Marcus... are you going to tell us why we’re heading to the Holy Capital?"

Marcus smiled.

"Alright, listen up."

The others leaned in, interested.

"I met the Saint," Marcus began. "She’s a very sweet and kind girl. She asked if we could lend a hand with a task in the capital. She said a few students from the Imperial Academy of Valor would be ideal for it—and I agreed."

Garron flexed his arms proudly. "Is it a job that needs strength? I’m perfect for that."

Clara sighed softly. "It’s nothing strange, right Marcus? You always agree to things too easily."

Marcus chuckled.

"Not at all. She just wants us to teach a little bit of magic to some kids at an orphanage. And also spend a few days taking care of them. She said she’d like us to be role models for them—give them something to aim for."

Clara smiled warmly.

"That’s very noble of you, Marcus."

Laziel nodded. "It really is a kind gesture."

Garron grinned. "Well... I can play with them, throw them up in the air and catch them, right?"

Clara frowned.

"It would be better if you didn’t do that, Garron. You’d scare the kids—and then they wouldn’t want to study at the academy."

Laziel added, smirking.

"Exactly. They might end up terrified of the academy if a gorilla starts tossing them around."

Marcus laughed, enjoying the friendly banter and the company of his closest friends.

As they continued chatting, it was Clara who brought up the next topic.

"Have you heard about the illness that was spreading in the north of the continent?" she asked. "Thank goodness my family’s territory is in the southeast—it didn’t reach us."

Garron blinked.

"I hadn’t heard about that..."

Laziel smiled.

"Of course you hadn’t. The day you keep up with the news will be a miracle. Yes, in my house they talked about it a lot. But they say it’s already been handled—Iskandar apparently solved the problem before it got worse."

Marcus nodded.

"It’s true. Clara and I heard about it when her father told us. They said it seemed like a plague—it spread quickly and affected a lot of people. Deadly fevers, skin turning red with blotches. Luckily Iskandar managed to stop it quickly."

Garron sighed.

"Yeah... thank goodness."

Clara smiled slightly.

"Marcus wanted to go up there to help. I had to hold him back—he gets too eager. There wasn’t much we could’ve done anyway... we’re not even in second year yet. The adults wouldn’t have let us get involved."

Marcus shrugged.

"True... but I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing when people were suffering."

Clara murmured softly, almost to herself.

"I know... that’s what I like about you."

Marcus blinked. freewebnoveℓ.com

"Huh? Did you say something, Clara? I didn’t catch that."

Now blushing, Clara waved her hands.

"No, nothing! Let’s change the subject. We’re getting close to the city, right?"

Laziel glanced at a nearby clock.

"Four more days."

Garron grinned.

"Hey, Marcus—you up for some sparring? I heard there are training grounds on the ship."

Marcus blinked in surprise.

"Huh? Really? Isn’t it a bit crazy to have a training area on a ship?"

Laziel shook his head.

"It makes perfect sense. This ship belongs to the Estermont family—it’s their official vessel. They always travel with it."

Clara tilted her head.

"But... we haven’t seen Elyra or her family anywhere, have we?"

Laziel frowned slightly.

"No... that’s the strange part."

Marcus laughed.

"Stop thinking too hard. Let’s just head to the training grounds."

The group made their way through the ship’s upper decks, following the signs toward the training grounds.

They passed several hallways—finally reaching a large reinforced door with elegant carvings along the frame.

Laziel opened it first.

Inside, the room was surprisingly spacious—wide enough for several combatants to train at once.

Magically reinforced pillars lined the walls, absorbing stray mana. The floor was marked with faded combat circles.

And in the center of the room—

Noel.

He stood alone, Revenant Fang in hand. The black blade gleamed faintly as he moved with smooth, precise motions—focused entirely on his training.

The group stopped at the entrance.

Marcus blinked in surprise.

"Noel?"
