The Extra Villain: I Made a Contract With The Dragon Empress!-Chapter 313: Final Battle (2)
Catrine slowly got to her feet, brushing the dust off her clothes.
She raised her head and looked at Nysera indifferently.
"Your skills are much better than before. Did you force yourself to break through a level?"
Her question made Nysera’s face stiffen for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure and grinned.
"So what? That doesn’t break the rules, does it? As long as I can defeat you, that’s enough," she replied coldly, taking a fighting stance.
Ever since Catrine had suppressed and humiliated her in the academy courtyard that day, Nysera had felt deep anger and resentment.
She was a member of the honorable Silver Dragon race. It was impossible for her to let a mere human humiliate her.
Unfortunately, she had to face the harsh reality that Catrine was far stronger than her. If she fought her head-on, she would most likely be defeated.
For that reason, last night she had tried to push her body beyond its limits—but it ended in failure.
Even so, she managed to activate a method that let her rise one level, though only for an hour.
For her, that was more than enough. With her current strength, she was confident she could defeat Catrine decisively.
Catrine said nothing. It was true that no rules forbade the use of such techniques.
Still, she didn’t consider it true power. Only by training hard and reaching that level naturally could one claim real strength.
The power Nysera wielded was nothing more than borrowed strength from her bloodline.
That was why Catrine was determined to show Nysera the true meaning of power.
She swung her sword to the right, pressed her forehead, and whispered, "First seal... open!"
Whoosh!
A wave of winter wind exploded from her and spread throughout the arena. Even those outside the arena felt the impact.
Some who were unprepared were immediately thrown back, while others managed to hold their ground. However, the piercing cold made them shiver in place.
Nysera was surprised by the transformation that occurred in Catrine.
’Is she finally getting serious?’ she whispered excitedly. ’This is great! I’ve been waiting for her to unleash her power for a long time, and now she’s finally showing it!’
Catrine’s appearance began to change. Her silver hair turned slightly blue, and a blue mark appeared on her forehead.
The mark emitted a faint light that slowly spread throughout her body, like creeping roots.
The pressure she radiated was far stronger than before.
Swinging her sword, she locked eyes with Nysera and said, "Let’s start the second round!"
Whoosh!
Their fierce gazes met, and the tension in the arena instantly shot to a fever pitch.
They vanished and reappeared in midair, clashing sword and claw.
Boom!
The clash triggered a massive explosion that rattled the arena in every direction.
They vanished once more and reappeared two meters above the ground, their sword and claw striking in flawless unison.
Boom!
Boom!
Each collision was just as powerful as the last. The arena shook violently, as if a massive earthquake were occurring.
"Crazy! They’re both insane!" a student cried in fear.
The intensity of their battle was terrifying, far surpassing the fights of the other students.
Both were equally strong, and as melee fighters, each of their attacks felt brutally vicious.
"Ice Slash!"
Catrine lifted her sword and swung it at Nysera.
An arc of ice shot out at lightning speed. Nysera scrambled to raise her left claw to block it.
Scrk!
Her claw—strong enough to split the arena in two—was sliced cleanly. Red blood spurted into the air, splattering her face.
Nysera flinched, ready to retreat, but Catrine was already one step ahead.
She appeared above Nysera, twisted her body, and kicked her squarely in the head.
Caught off guard, Nysera slammed into the arena floor, creating a two-meter-deep crater.
It all happened so fast that no one could react for several moments.
"Nysera... was defeated just like that?" a girl muttered, swallowing nervously.
The others were just as shocked. They rubbed their eyes, as if trying to convince themselves they weren’t seeing things.
But the reality was undeniable. Nysera had indeed fallen.
"Maybe she’ll get back up. She is strong, after all," one student said, trying to sound reassuring.
The others stayed silent but nodded in agreement.
"Ahem!" Nysera coughed as she struggled to rise. She glanced at her left claw and saw her wound had frozen over.
The pain, however, was still sharp, making her groan softly.
’What a terrifying attack. Is this her true power?’ Nysera muttered, staring at Catrine floating above.
Instead of fear, excitement surged through her. She shattered the ice, and her wounds instantly healed.
Raising her right clawed hand and bending her knees, she shot into the sky.
"I haven’t lost yet!"
Clang!
Metal met claw with a piercing screech.
Nysera spun and kicked Catrine in the waist, but the girl’s reflexes were faster, and she dodged effortlessly.
Catrine punched Nysera in the face, then kicked her in the stomach.
Nysera’s body flew backward, but her outstretched wings immediately stabilized her.
She opened her palms, and a magic circle appeared. Hundreds of lightning balls shot out and hurtled toward Catrine.
Catrine remained unfazed. She rubbed her blade and swung forward. A three-meter-long slash cut through the air and smashed the lightning balls.
Boom!
The explosion was so massive that black smoke billowed to the arena’s ceiling.
"Die!"
Nysera suddenly appeared behind her, swiping her right claw at Catrine’s back. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Slash!
Catrine’s body split in two. Nysera grinned in satisfaction—but in the next instant, she sensed danger from behind.
She flapped her wings and shot upward. A second later, an icy slash slammed into the spot where she had been.
If she had been even a second slower, her body would have been split in two and frozen into an ice statue.
Their battle raged fiercely, with explosions echoing through the sky like bombs.
"This is insane," Merlin whispered, a wide grin spreading across his face.
He hadn’t expected their battle to reach this level. He had also underestimated Nysera.
The dragon girl was incredibly strong and terrifying—every strike carried immense force.
Merlin was certain that if any of the first-wave students had faced Nysera, they wouldn’t have lasted ten moves.
It was only because her opponent was Catrine that the fight had become so intense.
"But in the end," he whispered, closing his eyes, "Catrine will win."
Meanwhile, Luvis, Crystal, and Lucius watched the exchange in awe.
As first-wave students, they had been confident in their own abilities. But seeing this fight, they realized just how clueless and full of themselves they’d been.
The two were clearly on a whole different level compared to the second-wave students.
"How fascinating... truly fascinating!" Lucius whispered, his excitement barely contained. "Catrine Clay... you have to be mine! That’s certain!"
At first, he had been drawn to Catrine by her striking appearance, which made his heart race. But now, after witnessing her extraordinary abilities, his feelings for her had grown even stronger.
He was certain that his father, mother, and siblings would approve if he chose her as his future partner.
Besides, it would also be a chance to humiliate Merlin Clay and finally avenge his grudge.
Meanwhile, the professors on the stage looked on in confusion and shock. The scale of the battle between Nysera and Catrine was overwhelming.
It was as if they wielded the power of the third and second spirit core levels.
"Vice Principal, we need to stop their fight immediately," the female professor beside him said. "Otherwise, both could be seriously injured—or worse. The academy itself could suffer losses."
The others nodded in agreement. Catrine and Nysera’s talents were extremely rare—among the first-wave students, very few matched them, and there were none in the second wave.
They were both the future of this academy.
This time, Ronald didn’t refuse as he usually would. He narrowed his eyes, torn between intervening and letting the match continue.
By academy rules, a fight could only be stopped if one student surrendered or was seriously injured. Until then, the match had to continue.
"Vice Principal, decide quickly! They’re getting out of control!" the other professors urged, panic in their voices.
The arena was in chaos. The two exchanged relentless attacks, each strike tearing through the arena floor and nearly shattering the protective barrier around it.
Though the repair system tried to keep up, it couldn’t match the speed of the destruction.
"I..."
As Ronald hesitated, a voice echoed in his mind.
"It’s okay. I’m here. Let the match continue."
Ronald froze in surprise. It was Linda’s voice. He quickly regained his composure and replied firmly, "Don’t worry. The principal is here. He’ll oversee everything."
His words startled the professors. They looked around, up and down, searching for Linda, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Even so, they trusted his words and no longer felt anxious.
Slash!
In the blink of an eye, Catrine struck three times. A five-meter-long ice arc shot toward Nysera.
Nysera had no time to defend herself.
The attack hit her, and she crashed to the ground with a deafening thud.
Catrine landed beside her, her expression calm and unreadable.
"Please announce my victory," she said.
Ronald smiled and declared, "The winner is... Catrine Clay!"
