The Extra's Advent: My Villainess Fiancée is a Yandere-Chapter 14: Spar
"Wanna spar with me?"
Elowyn was slightly confused by the sudden request, but she still agreed.
Cael took a sword out of his space pouch.
After the kidnapping incident at the Skyspire, he had learned to always keep a weapon nearby.
Then he looked at Elowyn and said,
"Here are the rules... well, to restrain you."
"1. You can’t use your Red Lightning."
[A/N: After considering, I decided to change Elowyn’s special element name, "Thunderflame," to Red Lightning]
"2. You need to limit your power to [Silver 1]."
Elowyn simply nodded.
Both of them took their battle stances at the same time.
Cael moved first and slashed diagonally.
Elowyn took a single step back, letting the blade pass in front of her, and immediately thrust her sword toward Cael’s chest.
’So fast!’
Cael showed no surprise. His mind remained calm.
The match had just started, yet he was already at a disadvantage.
Without hesitation, he let go of his sword and dodged to the left.
By abandoning his weapon, he gained just enough time to avoid the thrust.
Using wind, he pulled the sword back into his hand.
Elowyn closed the distance instantly. Her blade was coated in fire as she slashed toward him.
Cael bent his knee and released a wind slash.
Unlike her fire slash, his wind was compressed.
The concentrated wind tore through the incoming flames and continued toward Elowyn.
Her eyes widened slightly.
That slash was fast. Against a normal [Silver 1], it could have decided the match.
But she was not normal.
Lightning flickered around her body as she vanished with a sharp crack.
Seeing the lightning activation, Cael immediately expanded wind throughout the entire training hall.
Elowyn was already fast in her normal state. With lightning enhancing her, she was even more dangerous.
Cael did not intend to take any chances.
He spread wind across the entire training hall, using it as his perception.
Through the subtle disturbances in airflow, he tracked Elowyn’s afterimages.
"I will get... a little... serious. Be careful."
Her voice echoed from somewhere within the hall.
’A little serious, huh.’
Elowyn stopped a short distance away.
"Cinder Rose Swordsmanship."
"First Form, Blooming Rose Petals."
She reversed her grip and thrust her sword into the ground.
Instantly, small fire craters formed across the floor.
From each crater, burning roses bloomed.
The temperature in the hall rose sharply.
Sweat formed on Cael’s forehead.
’This is her getting a little serious. Very well then.’
He bent his knee and thrust his sword forward.
"Gale Weave Swordsmanship."
"Second Form, Dancing Gale Thrust."
Dozens of compressed wind thrusts shot forward like needles toward Elowyn.
But the fully bloomed roses released waves of fire petals that intercepted the wind needles midair.
The attacks collided and dissipated.
Elowyn pulled her sword from the ground.
"The formation is complete."
Burning roses now covered the entire training hall.
’So, her swordsmanship is linked to formations.’
Cael took a deep breath and compressed the wind around his body, forming a wind cloak.
’With this, I can ignore the fire petals.’
He moved toward her instantly.
Seeing his acceleration, Elowyn’s gaze sharpened.
Their swords clashed.
-CLANG -CLANG -CLANG-
Within seconds, their swords clashed dozens of times.
-Slash-
A wind cut slipped past Elowyn and sliced off a few strands of her black hair.
-Zap-
Realizing she was losing in pure speed, Elowyn immediately used lightning to enhance herself.
Even with lightning reinforcing her body, she was only barely matching Cael’s speed.
That surprised her.
A small smile appeared on her lips.
"Cinder Rose Swordsmanship."
"Second Form, Petal Wave."
If she could not match him in speed, she would restrict him.
Flaming petals surged outward, surrounding Cael and cutting off his movement paths.
But contrary to her expectations, Cael ignored the petals and charged straight through them.
Their swords collided again at close range.
They moved within the burning formation, blades flashing between flames.
Cael knew his wind cloak would not last if he remained in one place for more than two seconds.
So, he kept moving.
Clash. Step. Slash. Turn.
His mana was draining quickly.
’What to do?’
’Left. Right. Dodge.’
’Wind slash. Dodge. Thrust.’
Strangely, he felt calm.
His mind entered perfect focus.
The wind clock around him began to weaken, but he did not care.
’Direction... wind... speed... force... momentum...’
Something connected.
His eyes sharpened.
Using the remaining mana and the momentum he had built from continuous movement, he released one final slash.
This one was different.
Sensing the danger, Elowyn responded immediately.
"Cinder Rose Swordsmanship."
"Third Form, Blazing Petal Surge."
All the burning petals in the hall converged toward Cael’s incoming slash.
Wind and flame collided.
Under Cael’s steady gaze, the wind slash did not disperse.
Instead, it began to rotate faster.
The flames were drawn in.
Absorbed.
The slash turned into a spiraling current of burning wind.
"What?"
Elowyn’s eyes widened.
She had no time to dodge.
The burning vortex swallowed her.
-BOOM-
Cael dropped to one knee, breathing heavily.
That final slash had consumed nearly everything he had left.
"Rotation?"
Elowyn’s voice came from within the fading flames as she stepped forward.
The fire dispersed.
She walked out unscathed.
"Yes," Cael replied, pushing himself to his feet.
In that last attack, he had used accumulated momentum and compressed wind to create rotational force, allowing the slash to absorb the incoming flames instead of being dispersed.
His gaze fell on the faint smile on her lips.
"It’s my loss."
He placed his sword back into his space pouch.
Elowyn nodded and said,
"In terms of swordsmanship, you are slightly better than me."
Seeing that he was listening carefully, she continued,
"The only reason I won is that, as a [Gold 1], my mana pool is higher than yours."
"If we were truly at the same rank, I might have lost."
Cael shook his head.
"There’s no need to act humble with me."
Elowyn almost corrected him. She wasn’t being humble.
She paused instead. Her eyes lingered on him.
’Did he truly not realize?’
’His adaptability is insane.’
’Whenever I used a new technique, he didn’t try to counter it directly. He adjusted and turned the situation to his advantage.’
’Once might be luck. Twice could be a coincidence. But more than three times...’
’That isn’t a fluke.’
’Is this... his true talent?’
