Chapter 45: To District Neva

The next day.

Cael lazily yawned as he rolled on his bed. He didn’t feel like waking up at all.

But still, he forced himself to wake up.

Today, he was going to District Neva.

Well, yesterday, Elowyn told him that her team was supervising the Talent Showcase.

And Cael was interested in it for three reasons.

Well, the first reason was that his fiancée was present there, so he wanted to surprise her.

The second reason was also her. He wanted to ask her out on a date after their last date ended in disaster.

And the final reason was... his Copy skill would truly shine in that place.

Who knows how many awesome skills he could copy just by strolling around?

With that in mind, Cael entered the bathroom and freshened up.

He wore a clean purple shirt and a white hoodie with black pants.

He brushed his silver hair as his violet eyes stared at his mirror reflection and couldn’t help but take a few more looks.

"Hmm... did I get even more handsome? Elowyn, you lucky girl."

Shaking his head, Cael walked out of his room. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

...

The morning sunlight slipped through the corridor windows, casting long golden streaks across the polished floor of the residence.

The dining hall slowly filled with the clinking of cutlery, and the smell of warm breakfast drifted through the room.

Luke, Mira, Edwin, Aria, and Kira were having breakfast.

All of them had dull, tired eyes. They hadn’t slept last night at all.

Luke glared at Edwin for a second before turning away.

Edwin felt shivers on his spine for an unknown reason as he looked around.

Just then, Cael walked down in a fresh mood.

Luke raised an eyebrow.

"How are you feeling?"

Cael looked at Luke and said,

"Better than ever."

Mira eyed Cael and asked,

"Wow, you look great. Are you going somewhere?"

Cael nodded and answered,

"Since the mission is completed, I am going to District Neva."

Mira’s eyes sparkled.

"District Neva! Ohh!! You are going for Elowyn, aren’t you?"

Cael didn’t bother hiding it.

"Yes. Just don’t tell her."

Mira turned and looked at Luke, who was eating his breakfast.

"Just learn from Cael, Luke. He is going to District Neva just to surprise her."

"Meanwhile, you only know how to eat this and that and never bother to look after me."

"This is why you are not handsome anymore."

Luke choked on Mira’s words.

"Cough... Cough... Cough..."

Luke glared at Cael, wanting to rebuke that handsome statement.

But looking at Cael’s face, he paused and cursed inwardly.

’This bastard is truly getting more handsome.’

’This won’t do. I don’t lose in the battle of handsomeness.’

Then he paused his thoughts and looked at Mira strangely.

’Oh no... my lovely and kind fiancée is changing. She has been corrupted by those bastards.’

’And what do you mean, I never look after you? I begged the Sovereign and regressed to the past just for the future with you.’

Luke felt like crying and complaining, but there was no one he could complain to.

So, he remained silent and said nothing while mentally noting,

’Just you wait... I will definitely become... more handsome.’

After talking for a few more minutes, Cael left the room.

...

Cael left District Kazi and entered the nearby city.

Then he booked a cab to the nearest teleportation center.

While in the car, he checked his mobile to pass the time. Then an article caught his eye.

....

Mysterious Deaths of Forest Poachers

On the outskirts of Frestia Forest, locals found more than two hundred dead bodies. After investigating, the Council stated that these were forest poachers who hunted mutated animals and beasts for a living.

But they all mysteriously died.

The only noteworthy detail was that their minds and internal organs were internally crushed while their outer bodies had no injuries.

And...

...

’This world is too brutal for common people.’

’Even a [Perfect Iron] beast is a calamity for them.’

Cael also found articles about the District Kazi incident, about the vampire ritual, and a wanted criminal who could use lightning with shadow properties.

Cael chuckled.

’Searching for my clone? Good luck finding even a single clue.’

Outside the car window, the city rushed past in blurs of concrete towers, moving traffic, and glowing advertisement screens.

It took two hours before the cab finally reached the teleportation center.

Cael paid the money and stated he wanted to go to District Neva.

He stood in the middle of the circle as the familiar sensation enveloped him, and he found himself in another place.

Cael calmly walked out of the teleportation center as he looked around.

Unlike District Kazi, District Neva was super lively.

Skyscrapers that reached the clouds, busy streets, and excited people.

A smell of delicious meat reached him.

Cael instantly felt hungry.

It was already midday, so Cael didn’t mind having a full meal before going to meet Elowyn.

And Cael didn’t forget Edwin’s fourth lesson: always bring some flowers before meeting his girlfriend.

With that in mind, Cael entered the restaurant.

Warm light filled the restaurant interior as waiters moved quickly between tables carrying steaming dishes.

While waiting, Cael thought of his new skill: Death Radiance, and opened his status.

Cael’s eyes widened as he abruptly stood up.

Shocked wasn’t enough to describe what he was feeling right now.

Hundreds of thoughts ran through his mind.

’Unique element: Death??’

’Was there such a unique element in the novel?’

Disturbed from his thoughts, the waiter brought his lunch.

Cael calmed himself as he sat back down and took a deep breath.

Now he was sure of one thing.

’Luke isn’t the same Luke from the novel.’
