Chapter 314: Transfer Of Shares.

Hours later, Shikera was almost pulling her hair out of frustration as she sat across her father and Noah. Both of them staring at her like they hadn’t just heard the bombshell of an announcement that she just dropped.

Liam’s was understandable but Noah? Shikera could not understand his reaction. He had known she was pregnant for a while now, right?

"Noah," she whispered, glaring at him. "Aren’t you supposed to be on my side right now?"

He shrugged, showing he wasn’t ready to get himself involved in the father—daughter discussion. Shikera knew she already lost him as a supporter so she turned back to Liam, her eyes softening.

"Daddy, won’t you say something? You will be a grandfather in 6 months at most and I assumed you’d be excited," she said with a small smile.

Liam shook his head as if trying to deny himself what he just heard. His utmost nightmare had now come to pass, but he still believed there had to be a way out! There was a reason why he let everything be on contract. He wanted...No, he needed his daughter in good hands and protected without minding how much it would cost him. Surely, there had been many problems through the past months and he had been grateful for that.

Even when he was buried in confusion with Natasha and Elizabeth’s issue, he couldn’t deny that the DeLoachs had fulfilled their part of the contract at that moment. But this...it was something he would not accept.

"You are three months gone, Princess? How are you feeling? Is it..." he trailed off, finding the look in Shikera’s eyes strange as she maintained eye contact with him. ’’What’s the matter, Shikera?’’

’’You, Dad! You are not blaming me and that’s suspicious,’’ Shikera replied. It would be better for him to flare up right here and now, then she would gladly appease him, than for him to act like everything was alright. The look in his eyes was almost like the one that dominated Ethan’s this past few days, and she hated it. That look that told her they were blaming themselves for this; like she was a kid that had been forced to get pregnant.

Noah spoke up before his father could, surprise evident in his voice, ’’What did Ethan say? You told him already, didn’t you?’’

’’I did. And he agreed for us to have this baby,’’ Shikera lied.

’’I’m not sure he did,’’ Noah opposed her.

’’And how is that your business? If you won’t support me, Noah-’’

His eyes growing cold all of a sudden, Liam interrupted their argument, ’’Shikera, you are not having that baby. And I don’t care if you and Ethan want it, we signed a contract and that must be honored.’’

Before any of his children could argue against his words, Liam was on his feet and walking out the door.

’’Daddy, you don’t own my life! I got married myself, got pregnant and will carry it myself. Plus you aren’t the one to bear the pain and die when all this is over!’’ Shikera yelled, at the same time when the car screeched to a sharp stop in front of the villa.

She was frustrated. Anyone would be if they were in the same situation as hers and their father was currently visiting their husband, obviously not prepared to discuss peacefully.

Ignoring his daughter, Liam pushed open the car door on his side and alighted. He lifted his eyes up to the tall building and scoffed, ’’I should have had the driver bring us here instead of Noah. No need hiding a man that won’t have the power to help himself stay hidden soon."

’’Dad!’’ Shikera exclaimed, "You are not talking about Ethan in that manner! And his—"

"Why can’t I? His family will be handing over their corporation to me in a few hours. You don’t think the reporters will hear that and let them be, right?" Liam interrupted her, his usually gentle eyes staring at her coldly. "Oh, you could actually report live, can’t you?"

"Stop that, Daddy! I’m not liking this in the least bit," Shikera frowned. She turned to Noah who was just alighting from the car for support but the latter shrugged, averting his gaze from her.

"And just so you know, Shikera, you didn’t get married yourself. I got you married! You were helping me with a business transaction, Princess..." Liam stated. He trailed off, seeing Ethan appear on the patio with a blank look on his face.

Shikera turned too and fell quiet immediately, losing the strength to argue against her father. Since she lied earlier about Ethan supporting her pregnancy, she was scared Liam would mention it now.

She watched as Ethan took the short flight of steps down and approached her, his expression barely decipherable.

He bypassed her to stop before Liam, "You did a good job in protecting your daughter, didn’t you?" he asked. Before Liam could respond, he added, "The man you signed a contract with is in there, waiting for you."

"After you then," Liam stated with the same intimidating tone as Ethan’s.

Shikera immediately noticed the gloom in the atmosphere as soon as she stepped into the house, her eyes darting from one man to another.

"Why?" Liam’s voice broke into her thoughts, "I thought all members of The DeLoach family would be present. I mean, you are handing over your family’s foundation to us but there’s just two of you here." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"The others presence won’t be needed here," Ethan cut in. He sat down on the couch nearest to himself, with Shikera finding her way to sit beside him.

If everyone else was annoyed, she needed him not to be. She could deal with the others if he stood by her, but one glance at Ethan’s stern expression told her he would do anything but support her here.

He was probably the most angry person in their midst.

Chris’ voice jolted her out of her thoughts, "I guess everyone who is supposed to be here is present."

"Yeah," Ethan spoke up. "Everyone who is supposed to be here, as long as you two want to keep this stupid and greedy arrangement secret."

Liam hesitated a while before answering, and from his voice, Shikera could make out his decreased anger, "Stupid or not, a contract is still valid as long as none of us were forced to sign."

Ethan nodded curtly, casting a brief but meaningful glance at Shikera.

"I agree with that. So what’s the plan now? Going our different ways is the best, isn’t it?" he asked.

All eyes turned to him, shock evident in each. Before she could hold herself back, Shikera balled her hand into a tight fist and hit him in his thigh, drawing his attention.

"What do you mean go our different ways? You got me pregnant and we are married," she said.

"Good that you remember that, Shikera. I got you pregnant so you don’t get to make the damn decisions about the baby all by yourself!" Ethan argued.

Shikera retorted, "I have the right to, Ethan. Especially since you all aren’t being logical here."

"We will see about that when they leave, won’t we?" Ethan smirked. One that disappeared from his face as soon as it appeared. He turned back to Liam, "What’s the deal?"

Chris was the one who replied, "We will be transferring to the family’s shares to the Anderson’s. To avoid the press, they will own it on paper while we manage it."

"Good plan," Ethan affirmed. "When’s the transferring ceremony?"

The frown on Shikera’s face deepened. Everything seemed to be moving too fast...And Ethan, she felt he was too eager to get everything done. But that was strange. Who in their right mind would want everything he had worked for to be taken from him? Without protest at that.

As she opened her mouth to ask what was going on, Noah took the words right out of her,

"Hey, you sure of what you’re doing? Your shares, they will all be taken away. Won’t you even try to negotiate?" he asked. "Anyone would think you are the one getting your opponent’s shares."

Ethan raised his brow, feigning confusion.

"My shares will be taken away? Who said that?" he asked. His gaze swept across all of the others’ faces and he could read the answer in them.

Chuckling, he added, "Don’t tell me you all thought I would release my personal shares for a stupid contract. The contract was between Chris DeLoach and Liam Anderson, and I’m neither."

Silence ensued in the room. Even Shikera was shocked until she slowly regained her composure. How could she forget that this man had a trickish nature? A smile began to spread on her lips, but stiffened as soon as she heard his next words,

"I can consider handing over my own shares too though. But that will be after you agree to my proposal."
