Chapter 659: Chapter 659: I risk my life, just to get half?_1
"Boom!"
As Carson Flores aimlessly flew through the sky, a booming sound suddenly came from the distance. He looked up and saw the flash of flying swords speeding through the air, indicating that a battle was taking place.
Curiosity piqued, Carson maneuvered his flying sword towards the commotion.
Being a cultivator at the Golden Core Stage himself, and with the Water-Fire Mirror having absorbed a massive amount of Spiritual Energy, Carson felt much more confident.
Besides, he had a Distress Talisman on him.
After crossing a mountain peak, the scene before Carson brightened dramatically.
On the ground lay a huge Snow Ape that appeared to be dead. Next to it stood four people, while another lay on the ground not too far away.
Carson’s gaze swept the group and he paused, recognizing Katherine Reid among the people standing. The others were three young men and a middle-aged man, who was lying on the ground with a bloodstained chest, seemingly seriously injured.
Simultaneously spotting Carson, the group on the ground also caught sight of him.
Katherine’s expression changed, and her eyes suddenly lit up.
Carson!
It seemed fate had brought adversaries together in the most unlikely of places.
Carson hadn’t expected to run into Katherine there and frowned, preparing to leave.
However, Katherine suddenly called out, "Carson, wait!"
Carson turned to look at Katherine, "It seems we have nothing to talk about. Unless you are planning to take advantage of this situation to deal with me?"
Katherine shook her head, "Come down, let’s talk about cooperation... a Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform."
Although he hadn’t planned to interact with Katherine, the words "Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform" caught Carson’s attention.
A Lotus Platform is a type of top-tier Spiritual Medicine. Each additional leaf represents one grade, with the Ninth-Grade Lotus Platform being the highest, similar to the Nine-Leaf Ginseng but far more precious.
A Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform, while not quite as pivotal as the Ninth-Grade, was nonetheless an extremely precious Spiritual Medicine.
Most importantly, Carson possessed a Life Essence Pearl, which could catalyze medicines. If he could obtain the Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform, he could potentially catalyze it into a Ninth-Grade Lotus Platform, increasing its value tenfold, transforming it into a costly Superior Spiritual Medicine.
Carson landed and asked calmly, "What’s the situation?"
Katherine saw Carson descend and felt a secret thrill, though she managed to hide her emotions, "We’ve found a Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform."
Carson inquired, "Is it guarded by a beast?"
Katherine nodded, "Yes, a Snow Dragon Leopard. It’s roughly at the Golden Core Initial Stage."
A Snow Dragon Leopard?
A smile played on Carson’s lips, yet he feigned doubt outwardly, "Golden Core Initial Stage... Should be no match for you, right?"
Katherine pointed to the unconscious middle-aged man with a bitter smile, "He is our Senior Uncle, at the Nascent Soul Early Stage. Normally, there would be no issue, but a Snow Ape suddenly appeared. To kill it, our Senior Uncle was gravely injured. We are all at the Foundation Establishment Stage and stand no chance against the Snow Dragon Leopard..."
Carson replied without betraying his skepticism, "So, what do you propose?"
"Let’s cooperate."
Katherine looked at Carson eagerly, "You are at the Golden Core Stage, so dealing with the Snow Dragon Leopard should be no problem. You just distract it while we pick the Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform. Afterwards, we split it evenly, half for each of us. How about it?"
Carson feigned difficulty, "I risk my life and only get half?"
Katherine argued, "That place is extremely hidden. If I don’t tell you, you’ll definitely not find it. You’d gain nothing at all. You just need to lure away the Snow Dragon Leopard to get half. It’s a deal you won’t lose out on."
Carson laughed, "With such a good deal, why didn’t you ask someone from your own Myriad Phenomena Sect, instead of an outsider like me? Especially when we have quite the dispute between us—it’s hard for me to trust this."
Katherine replied with frustration, "My Senior Uncle is severely injured, we must immediately get him back for treatment. We can’t afford any more delays. If we go back to find someone else, the Lotus Platform might end up in another’s hands."
Carson was wholly skeptical of Katherine’s words.
Either everything Katherine said was a lie and the Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform was just a trap set for him, or the Lotus Platform was real, they couldn’t acquire it, and wanted him to become the bait.
If he were killed by the beast guarding the Lotus Platform, it would be killing two birds with one stone: They’d get rid of him and seize the Lotus Platform.
Carson decided to take a look.
First, he’d observe from afar, then decide whether to get closer.
"The guardian of the Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform is the Snow Dragon Leopard, are you sure?"
Without hesitation, Katherine swore earnestly, "I swear, the guardian is indeed the Snow Dragon Leopard. May I suffer from demonic possession if I lie!"
This oath was quite heavy for a cultivator. Carson promptly agreed, "Fine, tell me the location, I’ll take a look."
Katherine instructed a Senior Brother to take the gravely wounded Senior Uncle and wait nearby. She, along with the other two Senior Brothers, led Carson forward.
After circling several great mountains, Katherine stopped on top of one, concealing her presence and pointing towards a hidden spot in a distant canyon.
"The Sixth-Grade Lotus Platform is there, and that cave next to it is the Snow Dragon Leopard’s den."
