Chapter 97: Chapter 43 Searching for Immortal Island in the East Sea

The green-robed man took a step forward, saluted Li Qingming, and was the first to break the silence: "Your Majesty, Qing Liu still has important matters to attend to; it is inconvenient for me to stay here for long, so I shall take my leave first!"

Then, turning his head to Shui Yuanzi, he bowed several times and said, "Master, next time Qing Liu’er will come to visit Master again!" No sooner had he spoken than he rose, ready to leave the hall.

"Hold on!" Li Qingming, upon seeing Qing Liu and the red-robed man turn to leave, spoke up: "I have not been to Heavenly Court for a long time; how is the Heavenly Court faring now?"

The red-robed man quietly glanced at Li Qingming, then murmured softly: "Your Majesty, Heavenly Court has gradually been getting back on track. Numerous Demon Gods admire the majesty of the Great Emperors and have come over to Heavenly Court. However..."

Li Qingming’s brows furrowed, "However, what?"

The red-robed man said: "It’s just that the Witch Tribe often quarrels with our Demon Race, occupying famous mountains and great rivers. Our Demon Race numbers more than ten billion, without enough Spiritual Energy to cultivate and Transform, how could our kind manage the Primordial Land? Therefore, Emperor Di Jun has arranged for the two of us to scout out the Witch Tribe’s situation, to better plot our strategy for the Primordial Land!"

Hearing this, Li Qingming raised his hand and stroked his smooth chin, a sharp light flickering in his eyes.

"Your Majesty, if there is nothing else," the red-robed man, seeing Li Qingming lost in thought, spoke up again, "then Chi Mangzi shall take his leave!"

Li Qingming waved his hand, signaling for the brothers to do as they pleased, his bright eyes revealing an inner turmoil.

At the moment, at the foot of Buzhou Mountain, in the Ancestral Witch Hall.

The Heaven and Earth Taoist, who was originally cultivating in the back hall, suddenly stood up with a cold laugh, blood radiance burgeoning in his eyes. He muttered to himself: "Hmph, Di Jun, since you’ve acted this way, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"

Several days later, at the Shuiyuan Palace.

"I have troubled you for many days. I am extremely grateful for Fellow Daoist’s warm hospitality!" Li Qingming bowed deeply to Shui Yuanzi, smiling.

"Fellow Daoist is too polite, this Shuiyuan Palace rarely has visitors. Being able to host such a great power like Fellow Daoist brings much joy to this old Daoist!" Shui Yuanzi laughed heartily, returning a bow.

"There’s no need to send me off, Daoist. If I am free, I will surely visit you often. I hope you won’t shut me out, hahaha!" Li Qingming laughed heartily, rising into the air and said: "Please return, Daoist, I take my leave!"

Shui Yuanzi watched as Li Qingming’s figure disappeared into the distance, sighing deeply, "Fellow Daoist Qingmingzi, truly a great power indeed."

...

Speaking of Li Qingming, after leaving the Shuiyuan Palace that day, he returned to Yellow Wind Ridge to fetch the lazy Xiong Da.

The fellow was actually sprawled at the entrance of Yellow Wind Cave, having slept soundly for several days. When Li Qingming found him, he was still drooling, mumbling in his sleep:

"Master, don’t steal my roast goose! The ginseng is mine..." freewēbnoveℓ.com

Li Qingming was so furious, he grabbed the lazy creature by the ear and gave it a sound thumping.

Several days later, Li Qingming lay on the bruised back of Xiong Da as they set off on their journey once again. Each day was spent idly traveling through mountains and waters, a truly carefree existence.

One day, as they were nearing the coast of the East Sea, they suddenly saw a spectrum of splendid lights, colorful radiance soaring into the sky from the horizon. The enchanting and resplendent lights surged upwards, filled with a deep and profound Chaotic Aura.

An Immortal Island, shrouded in clouds and mist, ethereal like a dream, reality and illusion indistinguishable, suddenly appeared out of thin air in the mid-sky.

The island was enveloped in Immortal Energy, the mist swirling, as Spiritual Birds and Beasts frolicked, strange flowers and herbs flourishing towards the sun. Forests, bamboo, rocks, all contributed to the miraculous scenery, and mountains and valleys were evergreen. Searching and searching, waiting till the clouds part to reveal the moon; faintly discernible, palaces dazzle with gold and jade. Jade palaces and high towers stood tall; strange flowers and immortal cranes auspicious, truly a scene befitting an Immortal’s home.

"Mirage!" Li Qingming’s eyes were spellbound as he gazed upon the wondrous sight before him, his heart stirring as he thought: "Could this be the mysterious ’Penglai Immortal Island’ from the Chaos Three Immortal Islands?"

Xiong Da’s eyes were wide open, salivating at the sight of the plump Immortal Cranes, Jade Rabbits, countless Immortal Ganoderma, ginseng, red fruits, and various Heaven and Earth Treasures on the island. He secretly pondered whether the Immortal Cranes should be roasted or stewed, his mouth gaping absurdly to his ears.

Xiong Da, seeing his master frowning, flattered him by shouting: "Roar! Master, let’s hurry in! Otherwise, those Immortal Cranes will all run away!"

Li Qingming gave Xiong Da a vicious thump on the head, and dejectedly said, "Such a lack of experience for someone so hairy! That’s a sea mirage, where are you planning to go into? Do you really want to take a bath in this ocean?"

Looking at the Immortal Cranes and immortal rabbits before him, Xiong Da said with a wronged look, "Master, you’re lying, that plump crane clearly exists for real; if you don’t want me to eat it, just say so!"

Li Qingming floated down from the expansive back of Xiong Da and said, "Alright, then you go, I won’t stop you!" After saying this, he pointed forward and continued, "If you don’t go, I’ll kick you in there!"

With his eyes shining with wild joy and drooling, Xiong Da charged straight ahead.

"Splash!"

The void rippled and water splashed everywhere. Xiong Da became a drenched bear, his fur all tangled up, looking as comical as one could imagine.

"Ma-master. So it’s actually fake!" Xiong Da said, looking at Li Qingming, with a bitter urge to cry.

Li Qingming casually released a breeze, blowing dry the fur on Xiong Da, and leaped onto his back. After pondering for a long while to no avail, Li Qingming could only follow the scientific knowledge from his previous life to choose a direction, saying, "Let’s go, Master will take you to find this Immortal Island!"

Just having overcome his disappointment at losing the tasty treat, Xiong Da heard Li Qingming’s words. Flapping his tiny wings cheerfully, he shot off towards the northeast like lightning.

This search spanned hundreds and thousands of years. Li Qingming kept calculating along the way, but he could never glimpse a fraction of Penglai Island. Eventually, he gave up the idea of finding Penglai Island through divination.

With the intent of touring the East Sea, he traveled through the entire East Sea Immortal Mountains and Spirit Islands. Along the way, he even befriended over ten thousand overseas cultivators.

One day, as Li Qingming was leading Xiong Da to rest on a lush, deserted island, he suddenly felt the Spiritual Energy surge in front of him, and the air seemingly moved with consciousness, with strands of Chaotic Spirit Qi emanating into the atmosphere.

However, his Primordial Spirit swept through and found nothing.

Li Qingming took hold of Xiong Da, and to Xiong Da’s horrified and puzzled gaze, they suddenly collided with the void in front of them.

"Boom!"

The void cracked, and the rich Chaos Qi corroded everything around it. In just the blink of an eye, the once lush island became desolate, with roaring winds whipping up sand and stones to the sky.

The void merged back together, and peace returned to the place! The desolation all over proved the island’s past splendor!

After breaking through this illusory facade, Li Qingming and his companion arrived in a hazy, chaotic space. Although they could still see the blue sky and bright sun, it was permeated with Chaos Qi. The dreamlike islands were faintly visible within the murky space.

"Master, what kind of Qi is this? Why can’t it be absorbed directly?" Xiong Da fluttered his little wings and said, standing in the void.

Li Qingming frowned and carefully observed the surrounding space, saying, "This is Chaos Qi! On the Primordial Land, it all transformed from Chaos Qi into Innate Spiritual Energy, making it easier for living beings to absorb for cultivation. Only the highest Saints and a few Great Powers can effortlessly convert and absorb this Chaos Qi. If anyone else rashly breathes it in, not only will it interfere with cultivation, in severe cases, it could even cause their bodies to explode and perish!"

Xiong Da shuddered and said with a trembling voice, "Master, is it really so terrifying?"

Li Qingming glanced at Xiong Da with a smile and said, "Don’t believe it? If you don’t, you can give it a try!"

Xiong Da vigorously shook his head and said, "I believe, I believe! I think I better not try!"

Shaking his head with a smile of resignation, Li Qingming patted the slothful creature and said no more. Instead, he released his Primordial Spirit to sensitively discern this gray-brown space.

"Rumble!"

All of a sudden, before Li Qingming had walked a few steps, boundless Purple Night Divine Thunder, Five Elements Tribulation Thunder, Nine Tribulations Thunder, and the terrifying gray-brown Chaos Divine Thunder, came crashing down from the sky towards Li Qingming.

All kinds of Divine Thunders carried the infinite power of Heaven and Earth!

It was like a boiling ocean, a world belonging to thunder and lightning! It was uncertain how many kinds of Heavenly Tribulations had descended together, each one terrifyingly powerful and overwhelming.
