The Forbidden Heiress At The All Male Alpha Academy-Chapter 186: Alpha Cain - Predator Above all
Cain’s smile lingered for a heartbeat too long, and then it vanished. The grounds of the courtyard trembled as if it had been hit by something massive.
It wasn’t a roar or a burst of speed that marked Cain’s first move, but it was the pressure he unleashed. The kind that crushed lungs and bowed stone, the kind that reminded every wolf present who stood at the top of the food chain.
Sylas barely managed to throw his shadows up before Cain was already there as the impact detonated through the space.
Cain’s fist slammed into Sylas’s guard, tearing through shadow and flesh alike. The force sent Sylas flying backwards, his body ploughing through a collapsed column and skidding across the stone like a rag doll. Blood sprayed the ground in a dark arc, following the trail of his body.
Theo screamed his name, horrified at what she was witnessing. She looked at Cain, and her lungs froze with fear. What kind of crazy power did he possess? What kind of Alpha wolf lives in him?
Sylas forced himself upright on one knee. His vision swam, with shadows flickering around him like dying embers.
Cain didn’t bother to chase him.
He walked, completely relaxed.
"Erebos isn’t a demon of war, Zevon. He isn’t meant to be rushed,"
Sylas spat blood and rose anyway.
His wolf surged forward, and he half-shifted. His claws ripped free, and his canines lengthened as shadows fused into his frame like living armour. His eyes burned silver-gold, feral and unfocused.
He attacked.
And this time, he landed the first blow. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
His claws tore across Cain’s chest, ripping through his ceremonial robe and fur. His blood spilled across the floor, and Theo had this crazy expectation that it wouldn’t be red. Probably a ghastly black goo, but it was actually red. Normal red.
Cain staggered half a step back from impact, only half a step, and then a smirk lined his lips, "There," Cain said softly. "That’s my son,"
Cain countered without transforming.
He didn’t need to shift. His raw overwhelming Alpha force.
His elbow crashed into Sylas’s jaw, snapping his head sideways. A follow-up knee drove into Sylas’s ribs more than once, and Theo heard Sylas’s bone cracking audibly.
Sylas roared back, shadows flaring wildly as he was hurled across the courtyard again. He hit the ground hard, and the stone fractured beneath him from the impact of Cain’s hit.
It’s no wonder Zeke said he got knocked out by Cain the other day with just one move, and was unconscious for a month!
The shadows around Sylas spasmed, and Theo felt their instability, and the way they lagged, misfired, and always snapped back too late.
Cain was right. It takes years to transform and intermingle demon blood with werewolf, and Sylas had forced himself to take not just one more, but seven more into his body.
Just to save her.
Sylas struggled to rise, his body shaking with pain. Cain was already standing in front of him, and his clawed hand closed around Sylas’s throat and lifted him off the ground like he weighed nothing.
"You’re burning yourself alive," Cain said quietly. "And for what? Revenge? Closure?"
Sylas snarled and drove his claws into Cain’s forearm.
Cain didn’t let go.
Instead, he slammed Sylas down headfirst, and the impact drew blood and cratered stoke and skull.
"Sylas!" She screamed as something broke in her.
She didn’t think. She ran toward them.
"Hellcat, no—!" Zeke rasped desperately.
She shoved herself between them, her hands shoving against Cain’s chest with everything she had.
"STOP!" she screamed, "Enough!"
Cain looked down at her with a dark, deadly gaze, and the pressure intensified; then she was flying across the courtyard.
Theo hit the ground hard, a yelp of pain tearing from her lungs. Pain exploded through her ribs and shoulder, which had her rolling and gasping in pain.
"Hellcat!" Zeke roared.
He forced himself up, blood pouring from his mouth, and a terrible injury to his ribs. Zeke shifted partially, claws ripping out of his nails once again as he charged Cain with a broken roar.
Cain didn’t even turn fully. He didn’t need to.
He backhanded Zeke mid-lunge, and Zeke was also launched across the courtyard, crashing through rubble and slamming into a fallen wall. He didn’t move.
Sylas screamed as it watched both of them beaten up, and his shadows erupted This time, Cain met him head-on.
They collided like colliding storms.
Claws tore into each other. Fists crushed through skin and gone, and shadow and blood splashed the courtyard. Sylas landed blow after blow — slashing Cain’s shoulder, tearing into his side, and driving claws into his back.
Each hit cost him.
His shadows flickered even more with every strike, and his movements grew a fraction slower. His breathing turned into breathlessness.
Cain noticed everything.
"You’re weakening because you overestimated yourself," Cain said, blocking a savage swipe and driving his fist into Sylas’s gut, "Every time you draw on Erebos, it takes more than it gives. That’s what happens when you don’t allow yourself to fully merge with a power before using it,"
Sylas doubled over, with a choke and pain brought tears to his eyes, but he had already leaned up already and headbutted Cain hard enough to split skin.
"I don’t care!" Sylas roared. "I’ll bleed you dry if that’s what it takes!"
Cain grabbed him by the head and slammed him into the ground again and again.
"Still," Cain said coldly, "Thinking with your heart,"
Sylas’s vision swam, and the shadows lagged again snapping back too late, and failing to fully respond to him at all.
Cain raised his claw to the air, a triumph smile on his face. Unlike the others, his injuries were already closing before their eyes. In mere seconds, he looked...brand new.
Theo managed to look up, and she was blown away. What the hell?! What kind of Alpha wolf does Cain possess? A wolf shouldn’t be this powerful and still have this level of regeneration. It’s no wonder Cain has always been so dominant.
He is a predator through and through. His wolf powers were at their very peak.
But those claws he had raised were coming down at Sylas fast. A killing blow.
"No—!"
She lunged, slamming into Cain’s side.
It barely did anything.
Cain turned and struck her with the back of his hand.
Theo hit the ground, and her vision blurred once again. Blood covered her face, and she tasted much of it in her mouth. She couldn’t move anymore.
Sylas felt her go still, and something inside him tore loose.
His eyes burned like dying stars as he rose again, bloodied and broken.
"This is where you die, Son," Cain stated.
"It doesn’t matter what you do to me," Sylas replied through broken teeth and broken bones, "I’ll always get back up, and I’ll keep coming till you are dead,"
They collided in a final brutal exchange with Sylas tearing into Cain’s side and Cain crushing Sylas’s ribs in return. Sylas landed a savage blow across Cain’s throat, drawing blood.
But his legs buckled.
The recoil hit all at once.
The shadows screamed, then collapsed.
Sylas fell to his knees.
Cain stood over him, breathing steady as the wounds began to heal. It was all hopeless.
"It’s over," Cain said as he gripped Sylas by the neck again.
Just then, someone stepped into view. No aura, no scent. Nothing.
Theo managed to look up once again and matched as two figures stepped from the shadows.
Eric walked in front. He looked pale and was trembling, his eyes darting everywhere but forward.
Behind him walked the masked man.
Theo’s heart began to pound. She’s never actually seen this person this close-up, and hadn’t noticed much about him that time she had chased him up the stairs.
But she knew that posture. She knew those walking steps. She knew that body shape.
He didn’t spare her a glance and walked up straight to Cain.
Then he went down on one knee and bowed his head. Eric did the same next to him.
Then, he reached up and slowly pulled the mask free. Theo desperately prayed her instinct was wrong, only for her breath to be shattered in her chest when the mask finally came off his face.
"Liam...?" Her voice cracked.
