Chapter 156: 156-The Kiss and the Dragon Queen’s Feast

They collapsed on the lift floor as it creaked its way up.Below, monsters leapt upward, claws outstretched—but the lift had already ascended out of their reach.

Marshal Sebeth stood tall on the wall, eyes fixed below. She raised her gleaming frost sword and slashed.SLASH!A glowing arc of blue frost energy carved through the air—BOOM!A shockwave followed.Ice bloomed like a flower, exploding at the base of the wall.Monsters were sliced in half, their flesh frozen and shattered.C-rank or B-rank—it made no difference. They were butter beneath her blade.Another wave of arrows and ice lances followed.Swoosh! Swoosh! They pierced the wounded and stunned, finishing off dozens.Painful growls echoed as the tide of monsters wavered, hesitating...Then—they stepped back from the wall.

ROARRRRRRRRRR!A sound tore through the air—A Draconic Roar.Fear gripped every heart.Sebeth’s eyes narrowed.Far above, in the stormed skies—A humanoid black figure with wings of shadow floated, watching from a distance. The monsters began to retreat after the draconic roar echoed through the frozen air.The soldiers on the wall wavered, frozen in fear, unable to attack the fleeing beasts.Marshal Sebeth didn’t give the order either. Her mind raced—A Sage-level monster? Where did it come from? She glanced at the soldiers lining the wall. The ones in white uniforms trembled, unable to hide their fear. Those in golden-blue uniforms held their stance, but tension was visible in their posture.Only the superior soldiers in navy blue—along with herself—remained truly composed.

On the wall behind them, Selene opened her eyes and sat up.She looked around—and her heart clenched. She turned her head to the side and saw Alex, lying nearby, panting heavily.Beside him were Hans and Hook, also gasping for breath.Selene whispered softly, "I’m sorry... you had to carry me all the way here."Alex, without opening his eyes, shook his head and replied between heavy breaths:"No... pro...blem."

Just then, Marshal Sebeth stepped closer, her boots clicking against the stone. She looked down, scanning each of them carefully, her sharp eyes pausing on Alex—Still breathing hard, eyes closed, his body drained. Then her gaze shifted to Selene, who sat nearby, watching Alex with a faint smile.Sebeth’s eyes glimmered with mischief for a moment, but she held back her grin and asked in a composed voice:"Sel, can you tell me what happened?"

Selene blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. Her eyes widened slightly as she noticed her aunt’s playful glint and raised brow.Selene sighed, murmuring to herself, Let’s not cry over spilled milk...She steadied herself and replied in a calm, composed tone:"We were scouting the edge of the Frozen Hell. We were just settling for the night when we were attacked by Yeti monsters."She paused and glanced up.Sebeth nodded, prompting her to continue."We managed to defeat five of them. But Hans and Hook said the behavior was strange—unusual for this area—so we decided to investigate further."Sebeth’s lips curled into a knowing smile."So... were you the one who defeated the Yetis? What rank were they? I know Hans and Hook can’t manage that—they’re great at running away, but not much else."Selene shook her head and answered softly,"I was asleep... Alex was the one who saved me and killed all the Yetis."

Sebeth’s eyes widened.I didn’t know Sel’s boyfriend was this strong already...She looked back down at Alex, still panting, still recovering from the fight—and the escape.Sebeth looked back at Selene, her eyes silently urging her to continue.Selene took a breath and resumed,"We moved a little further in... and near the base of a mountain, we spotted some signs. So we climbed up."Her face flushed slightly, remembering how Alex had embraced her, saving her when she slipped.Sebeth coughed, breaking the moment."Ahem. Continue."Selene blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. She fidgeted, but continued in a steady voice:"Then, as we reached midway up the mountain, we spotted monsters—thousands of them gathered on the other side, bowing before a humanoid female monster standing on a platform."She paused, a shiver running through her body. In a trembling voice, she added:"That... monster... spotted us instantly. The monsters roared—and started chasing us. We just ran. We ran and ran."Sebeth nodded, her expression thoughtful.Alex, sitting nearby with his breath now steadier, added:"I think... it was a dragon. In humanoid form."Sebeth’s eyes widened, but she quickly hid her shock behind a neutral expression. She nodded toward both of them."You two go and rest first. The monsters have already retreated."Alex and Selene both nodded. Without another word, they walked past the rows of anxious soldiers and entered one of the nearby huts.

They descended the stairs quietly. As they reached the narrow corridor, Selene turned toward Alex, looking into his purple eyes.Softly, she said,"Thanks... for saving me."Before Alex could reply, she lunged forward and kissed him on the cheek, then immediately ran inside her room, slamming the door behind her.

Alex stood frozen. He touched his cheek in a daze.A smile bloomed across his face—genuine, and stunned. He walked in a trance, still holding his cheek, grinning like a lovestruck fool.Click.He opened the door to his room and stepped inside, shutting it behind him with a thud.Growl.A soft bark followed.Alex blinked, turning around to see Hati stuck halfway in the door, looking at him with accusatory purple-grey eyes, growling lowly.Alex scratched his head sheepishly."Ah—sorry, Hati. I didn’t see you there."Hati growled again, baring his fangs this time.Panicked, Alex hurried over and opened the door wider, hands raised."Sorry, sorry, my bad!"Hati padded into the small room, tail wagging, and leapt onto the bed, curling up on one side—deliberately away from Alex.Alex let out a sigh of defeat and collapsed onto the bed beside him.He stared at the ceiling and whispered:"It felt good... the gratitude... and the kiss, Hati." Alex touched his cheek reliving the feeling.

Hati lifted his head, his dual-colored eyes watching Alex.He let out a soft, understanding coo, then curled back up peacefully.

Far away from the Ice Fort City, high on the cold snowy mountain, Nerzalia stood atop a raised platform jutting from the cliff face. She gazed down at the monsters below—wounded, fewer in number than before. Her bare, pale feet moved across the uneven, icy surface until she reached the edge. She sat down, her legs dangling in the air, and stared into the distance.A soft smile tugged at her lips as she murmured to herself,"I never thought I’d sense blood similar to mine... It’s dormant right now, but I’m certain—it’s there."Her golden dragon-like eyes scanned the monsters below. Then, her voice boomed like thunder:"We will attack after the full moon."The monsters roared and growled, their howls echoing across the frozen lands.Nerzalia’s smile widened, now gleaming with joy."Gather everyone. Tell them—Nerzalia, the Dragon Queen herself, invites them to a feast."The roars of hungry monsters rumbled like thunder across the entirety of Frozen Hell.
