The General's Wife Wants to Leave-Chapter 41: The warm glow on the letter
Chapter 41: The warm glow on the letter
"Where is Sir Canillas, Bianca?"
Bianca faced the younger woman and gave her answer, "Sir Canillas has left for Seidel, my lady. This morning, an imperial messenger from the castle arrived and relayed the message from His Majesty the King, summoning General von Rodega to proceed with the military alliance between Archess and Terra."
Joanna gave a single light nod at the explanation that was given by the senior maid. After pondering for a fleeting moment, she questioned again, "Did Sir Canillas give information about when he would come back to Barasca?"
Bianca shook her head, conveying another piece of information instead, "I don’t know about that, my lady. But before Sir Canillas departed this afternoon, I happened to meet him in the corridor when I was on my way to this room, while he seemed to be just coming out of this room, my lady. Sir Canillas told me that he left a letter for you." Bianca then turned her head in the direction of the table near the window, which soon Joanna followed.
Turning her head to look back at the young lady, Bianca asked, "Would you like me to take it for you, my lady?"
The General had actually informed her that he had left a letter for the young lady to read. But Bianca did not dare to inform the young lady before the young lady had an initiation to ask about the General as she knew for sure why the young lady was in such a painful condition, not once but twice.
Hence, Bianca refrained from informing her about something that she might dislike as she thought that the young lady would be able to find the letter any time soon without her revealing the letter as it was not placed in a secretive location. frёewebnoѵēl.com
Waiting for the response of the young lady who still had her eyes in the direction of the letter, about five seconds later, Bianca met her eyes and heard her say, "It is fine, Bianca. You may please prepare the meal for me to eat." The young lady offered her a smile, to which Bianca returned the smile.
She had indeed made the right decision to not initiate any conversation regarding the General, Bianca thought in her mind. With that, she left the young lady’s room to proceed with the meal preparation for her.
As she was alone in her room, Joanna’s gaze once again landed on the table where the warm glow of the light illuminated a piece of white enveloped letter.

Canillas did not expect that he would receive a message from King Ordoba of Terra to proceed with the military cooperation between the two kingdoms, for both army and navy, this soon.
He had just arrived the day before and only stayed one night in his wife’s maiden home. He was barely able to sleep despite his fatigue as his thoughts had been occupied with the unforeseen events that were provided by his intriguing wife.
He actually planned to spend more time with her, both accompanying her in the recuperation as he had proposed and enjoying another fun moment with her unyielding personality. But he did not think that a messenger from the Castle of Montella would arrive at the de Lara mansion when he had breakfast with his father-in-law this morning, ruining all his plans in the wink of an eye.
Canillas had no choice but to carry out the command as he had been assigned by King Bram, who had control of the military in the Kingdom of Archess, to be the person in charge of handling this alliance.
It was actually the order that he and one other senior general of Archess had received before his marriage with the Terran lady was established. When he asked permission to take leave to visit his wife who was in her homeland and to take her back to his home, the King commanded him to kill two birds with one stone, ordering him to proceed with the military matter.
Although Canillas had told King Bram that he would take some days off this time as he went to Terra solely for anything related to his wife, and suggested that the military cooperation be assigned to the other general who had received the same order as him, it seemed that the King did not want to let him free from duty even for a few days.
Not long after Canillas reported to King Bram de la Roca his plan to leave for Terra, the King asked the imperial secretary to write a letter to King Ordoba, informing him that General Canillas von Rodega of Archess would visit Terra and military cooperation between the two kingdoms could be proceeded.
King Bram had offered and assigned a number of soldiers from Canillas’ regiment to go with him to Terra as it was regarded as a military duty. However, Canillas turned it down, saying that he would go to Terra with his man-at-arms as more than three-fourths of his mission to Terra was solely for his wife.
Hence, he went to Terra with his men-at-arms although his trip this time was not a full private trip as he had to conduct his military duty as well.
Before leaving for Seidel, he had been to his wife’s room to see her condition. Although she was sleeping, he could see that her complexion was better compared to when he saw her the night before, which meant that there was an improvement in her condition.
She had indeed made the right antidote, showing that she had that unique knowledge related to medicinal herbs. This finding made him impressed yet intrigued by his wife more, particularly when he recalled the bottles of various colored liquids lying inside the wooden box where she kept the antidote.
He wanted to tell her directly that he would be away for a few days. However, since he did not want to disturb her rest, he had written her a letter while wishing that she would read it, not throw it away or burn it. Of course, he would not have bothered to wish for that if his wife was not an intriguing woman who had made him worn out at their first meeting.
