The Gentle Maiden and Five Lustful Brothers-Chapter 207: I’ll Attend
Vincent listened intensely to every word Lilith said. "Since then, she’s been with the shifters, which according to the prophecy is where she is meant to be. It’s all been very stressful on all of us." She explained.
Vincent was sitting in this very seat a few days back when memories of a time long forgotten came slamming into him like a ton of bricks. He’d spent the last few day sorting through those memories and piecing things together. The war. The alliance. The lies spun to hide the truth and explain what was forgotten.
He wondered why those memories had surfaced. And now, everything made sense.
"I’m not happy about this. But I will attend. My King calls, and I will come as requested." Vincent wasn’t ready to leave the comfort of his walls, but he didn’t have much of a choice. If history was repeating itself, fighting it would most likely lead to devastation. He heard the stories of those who changed their fate, and many stories lead to tragedy.
"Daddy, it is good to see you, you look well." Viktoria walked over to her father and spoke so sweetly.
"Don’t you flatter this old fool, my days of good looks and health are long gone." He chuckled. Such was true, he had been fading away with each passing year. And in recent, his decline had sped up. He was thinner, wasn’t drinking as much blood, he had been preparing for a hibernation. Where he’d take a long rest. Maybe for eternity, if fate would have been kind.
"Daddy, you should start dating, if not for yourself for me. No woman would ever take away mom’s place, but being friends with someone could help with that loneliness." Viktoria pushed the topic at least once every time she saw or spoke to her father.
"This old heart beats for one woman alone and will never be open to another. You know that." Vincent smiled at his daughter.
Lilith felt a moment of pride swell in her chest.
At least one of her sons was a loyal husband. Even in death staying faithful to his one love.
Viktoria loved that her dad loved her mom with such fiery intensity but hated seeing her father lonely.
"Fine Daddy. But after we beat this madman possessing my cousin’s body, we’re finding you some friends at the very least." She insisted and spoke with such absolution, Vincent didn’t have the heart to argue.
"Okay, sweetheart, okay." He smiled lightly.
"You need my blood? That’s the other reason you’re here, right?" He asked.
"Yes. I need to bring it to Arya as soon as possible. I’ve got the vial, let me have your wrist." Lilith ordered more than asked as she walked over with the vial in hand.
Vincent nodded and held out his hand. She took her nail and sliced into his skin, blood oozed from the open wound and Lilith collected what she could before the wound sealed up.
"You heal slower than usual, you need to be fed, that won’t do in the coming battles. When was the last time you even trained. Your brother and Ash are going to have their hands full with you." Lilith looked over to Viktoria, "Make sure your brother joins for training. We can’t have a weak family of vampires walking into a den of wolves, now can we?"
"No, grandmother, we can’t." Viktoria nodded. Viktoria had been training ever since Violet disappeared.
With that Lilith said to both of them, "I will depart for Arya now with the samples." And walked out of his office and out of his house. Transforming into a dragon she flew off to Arya.
Vincent and Viktoria were left alone in the house.
"Daddy, you should get packed, and probably buy more modern clothes for the visit. You’re an aristocrat, but you don’t need to dress like you still live in 1886." Viktoria mentioned to her father.
"Yes, yes, I plan too. It was basically 1886 since the last time I really went out into the world, except for Violet’s correnation. I’ve never even met my niece. I feel a little ashamed of myself for staying away all these years. Now she’s 19 and a goddess. I missed a lot." Vincent looked down at his desk folding his hands over the surface.
"Well do better, help us win the war, and meet her with us. You can’t fix what you didn’t do, but you can do better." Viktoria repeated the same words Violet had said all those years ago.
Seeing her father feeling sorry about his actions and knowing him to be a gentle man, this all finally made sense to her.
"Do you have any teleport stones, daddy? Or do I have to fly to Viktor?" Viktoria whined.
Back in Romania, Ash was nearly glowing from the idea of seeing his daughter again.
He wondered how much she’d grown, if she was training. If the shifters know about her identity. Not just as a vampire, but as a deity.
His thoughts drifted back to Violet and how everything had played out. It truly was a cruel twist of fate. Violet gave up her life to free their daughter from shifters, only to become trapped herself and their daughter does not need the rescue. She tore apart a continent just to reach Odette, only for her to leave before ever getting the chance.
Jeremy was not a fan of the idea of meeting with the shifters, he despised it. Rosa was doing what she could to try and soothe his anger and disgust.
"I can’t believe we are actually going to make a pact with those animals. Like it could erase everything they’ve done to us." He growled.
"I know, I know, mi amore. But I don’t think anyone wants to erase what they’ve done, but for the sake of a future for all of us, we have to look forward and not hold on to the past. It can be changed.
"I don’t like it."
Delilah was coming back to join her family. It would be a reunion of sorts. Delilah didn’t have too much of an opinion when it came to shifters. She wasn’t the kind of girl who was concerned with the politics between shifters and vampires.
But she was excited to see Odette, and worried what it would mean for her and Kalvin. She wondered if they would be attending. Kalvin and Odette after all, were still engaged.
The worries were endless among the vampires.
When Lilith had arrived back to the coven, she went straight to Arya. This time, she didn’t bother with the theatrics or the polite formal greeting she gave last time.
When she opened the door to Arya’s study she found her hanging herbs to dry.
"You come with gifts I hope." Arya said without turning to greet Lilith.
"I did. Will you be attending with us? The Meeting with the shifters?"
"Yes. So will Kalvin and Roland." Arya answered walking over to Lilith now that she had finished hanging the herbs "The blood will need time to separate from the plasma. Which is just enough time for me to tag along. Provide aid and back up if needed."
This was sure to be one interesting encounter.
