Chapter 101: Cattle And Sheep.

Apparently, becoming an inner sect disciple doesn’t mean he becomes safe from the rat race. He still has to continue to toil in order to stay alive.

In fact, the struggle has only increased. At least, outer sect disciples don’t have to worry about being killed because they are not as rich as other people. This is why he felt so disgruntled.

After ranting, he sighed and said, "This whole thing feels like the initiation program hasn’t ended. Fortunately, I am rich and don’t have to worry about being eliminated."

Then he chuckled and said, "It seems I have to thank the Rein Family again for their help."

After chuckling for a while, he shifted his attention to the Merit Missions tab. This was because he wanted to see how to earn the merit points that he needed to acquire the things in the merit shop.

From what he saw, he realized that there were different grades of merit points that could be earned based on the difficulty of a mission. These grades are categorized as grade 2, grade 3, grade 4, and grade 5.

The grade 2 merit points can only be used to buy grade 2 life insurance, which will double the value of his life, or to buy level 2 status. Grade 2 merit points can’t be used to buy grade 3 life insurance or level 3 status.

He also noticed that grade 2 missions were generally safe. They were clerical work or administrative jobs for the sect, so there is no danger in doing them.

One of the grade 2 missions he saw was serving as an instructor for the initiation program. After doing that for a while and earning enough grade 2 merit points, he would be able to buy a level 2 Status or a grade 2 life insurance.

Another grade 2 mission that he saw was serving as the clerk in the registration building for registering new disciples into the sect. This mission stood out to him because he was familiar with it.

The last familiar grade 2 mission that he saw was the mission to go all over the Central Plains looking for reincarnated disciples of the sect who bought the reincarnation insurance and bringing those people back to the sect safe and sound.

This made him curl his lips in disdain and say, "I wonder what Muni was complaining about when he became our instructor. He is clearly an inner sect disciple, so he definitely isn’t dirt poor like outer sect disciples."

"Plus, he was earning merit points from the sect and earning money from selling us. What more could he want?"

Then he shook his head and said, "People are just too greedy."

He said that while forgetting how he had earned five times more than the amount he needed.

Of course, earning so much money is a good thing now that he knows that the sect is looking for an opportunity to kill him. But it still doesn’t change the fact that he was being greedy a while ago.

After berating Muni for his shameless greed, he continued checking out the missions he could do to earn merit points.

He saw that above the grade 2 missions are the grade 3 missions. These grade 3 missions are more difficult because they involve doing dangerous things for the sect.

One of the grade missions that stood out to him was serving as a debt enforcement officer for the sect whose job is to hunt those who haven’t paid their debt.

He also noticed that the sect won’t pay him any contribution points directly for this job. It is the debtor who will have to pay. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

So the sect isn’t losing out by sending an enforcement officer after the debtor. This is why this mission stood out so much to him.

But this only made him more dissatisfied with the sect. So he scoffed and said, "I’m not surprised. It is just like the sect to rip off the poor man who cannot pay his debt. At this point, the sect is worse than the Rein Family. At least, the Rein Family doesn’t go hunting for someone who used to be their slave in their past life."

After scoffing and grumbling some more, he continued reading.

He saw many more dangerous missions that could earn grade 3 merit points. Apparently, serving as a debt enforcer for the sect was one of the easiest jobs. There were more dangerous jobs, like serving as bounty hunters.

Being a bounty hunter is more dangerous than hunting poor debtors. After all, the targets of bounty hunting are criminals who have broken the rules of the sect, and they are usually rich and powerful inner sect disciples.

On the other hand, debtors can only be poor outer sect disciples. So debtors can’t be too dangerous to deal with.

But as dangerous as grade 3 merit missions were, people were taking them just for the fact that grade 3 merit points were faster to earn than serving as a clerical worker for many years, and because grade 3 merit points could be used to buy both level 2 and level 3 status.

Then there were grade 4 and grade 5 missions, which involved going to the battlefield to fight the disciples of other sects. These were the truly dangerous missions as they involved fighting the best of the best of the other sects.

After going through the missions, Loki said, "Once I advance to rank 3, I’ll choose a rank 3 mission. That is faster and worthy of my level."

"I should start as a police officer in the city. When I acquire a level 3 status, I’ll think about going to the battlefield."

"In the meantime, I should buy the Living Metal that I need. I should also find a way to increase my talent."

At the thought of increasing his talent, he grinned and said, "My talent might be a lot, but there is no harm in having more."
