Chapter 137: World Barrier.

Everything that the rank 4 cultivator added to the ball either fused with it or removed a portion of the ball. When he was done, there was a small red ball roasting over the fire.

The rank 4 cultivator took this red ball and presented it to the young rank 5 cultivator with a bow as he said, "It is done, sir."

The young rank 5 cultivator took the red ball and activated it with his internal energy. This caused the ball to glow a red light. It glowed brightly, but its light was only shining in one direction.

Every ray of light that the ball was creating was all congregating in one direction. This direction indicated where Slav was.

The rank 5 cultivator also sensed something more precise about Slav’s location, other than the direction that he was in. What he sensed made him say, "He is not in the city."

The other two rank 5 cultivators took turns verifying this information. They sent their rank 4 cultivators who could use the red ball to verify Slav’s location. This sight made Skarg conclude that the three of them are not on the same side.

After they verified Slav’s location, the three rank 5 cultivators agreed to send some of their men with the red ball to go looking for Slav. As for the three of them, they chose to remain in the city to keep Skarg safe.

They chose to prioritize Skarg’s life because, as long as he is alive, it is only a matter of time before they can find Slav. Since Slav must know this, it is to be expected that Slav would try to kill him somehow, including sending someone to kill Skarg on his behalf.

With this decision made, they took more blood from Skarg, which they used together with some of Slav’s items to forge a Bloodline Metac that would point to his location like a compass points in the direction of the north of the magnetic field.

After they refined two more Bloodline Metacs, they formed three independent groups with the three Bloodline Metacs. Then the three groups took off in search of Slav.

Skarg was conflicted about this decision because he wanted them to both stay and go. He liked that they were staying to guard him because he wasn’t sure that he could protect himself against the reincarnation of a divine being. But this meant that the city would remain on lockdown.

He didn’t like that the city would be on lockdown. He also didn’t like that he wouldn’t be able to do anything about looking for Loki in the presence of the three rank 5 cultivators.

Of course, no matter what he thought of this arrangement, he didn’t dare to complain. He could only suffer in silence while hoping that Loki wouldn’t grow too strong too quickly.

As he thought of Loki, his eyes became gloomy, and he said to himself with immense regret, "I should never have made it possible for him to escape. And when he escaped, I should have used more effort to find him. This is why slaves should never be allowed to escape control."

He sighed and said, "When he escaped, I thought that at best he could become a nuisance. Even then, I only thought he had a chance of becoming a nuisance. I didn’t think he could become so troublesome."

"Less than 100 rank 5 cultivators in the sect, and I just happened to have enslaved the reincarnation of one of them. What kind of bad luck is that?"

He sighed again and said, "What bad luck. Unfortunately, it is too late for regrets."

As bad as things are, he might still be able to smooth out the relationship with Loki. After all, he didn’t know Loki’s true identity when he enslaved Loki. So if he apologizes and offers some benefits, there is a high chance that Loki will forgive him and let bygones be bygones.

But Skarg is not going to do that. He is not going to willingly put himself in a disadvantaged position unless he has to.

He is not going to automatically accept that he is at the mercy of Loki. Instead of doing that, he will try to eliminate the problem completely, which in this case, means eliminating Loki completely.

He knows that killing Loki now might not eliminate Loki as a threat forever, as Loki will still be able to reincarnate with his memories after death. But he believes that this further problem is worth it if he can get the secret of how to advance to rank 5.

After all, if he succeeds in advancing to rank 5, he too will be able to reincarnate after death. So even if he can only reincarnate once and Loki kills for revenge, he believes that it is worth it in exchange for the secret of rank 5.

The only way he can give up and accept defeat is if Loki becomes as strong as him or at least, strong enough that he can’t do anything to Loki. Until then, Loki will remain an item on the menu.

On the other side of the world, after nearly two days of travel, they finally reached their destination. It was also just in time to see a spectacular sight.

As the flying ship approached the world barrier, they saw a large wall of grey mist rise from the earth up to the limit of the sky. This wall of grey mist filled the horizon and blocked the way forward in every direction.

The closer they got to the wall of grey, the bigger and the more magnificent it became. The closer they were to it, the easier it was for them to spot the small tunnels in the grey mist that led to the other side.

Loki was looking at this sight when the sky above his head suddenly lit up with a red glow. This prompted him to look up at the sky.

With his eyes raised up to behold the sky, he saw a large ball of fire appear in the sky. The large ball of fire sailed across the sky like a burning meteor. It sailed right in their direction and looked like it was coming for them.
