THE GOD EATER-Chapter 146: Friend Or Foe.
When everyone got in, Greg, who was standing at the control deck at the front of the cabin, released the anchor holding down the airship to the ground and let the airship take off. Then he unfurled the sails and let them use the wind to push the airship forward.
He did all of these without looking at them or telling them what to do. He was behaving as if they were not present at all.
Without his guidance, they could only stand around in the cabin looking at each other. This created a silent atmosphere that was suffocating. For some reason, they began to find it difficult to breathe and began hoping that Greg would speak again.
The airship moved at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Their destination was only 750 kilometers away, so it would take them less than 8 hours to get there.
However, these 3 hours felt like an eternity because of the suffocating silence. Only someone like Loki, who was too busy fusing his energy threads in his brain stem, didn’t mind the silence. In fact, he quite liked the silence.
Unfortunately for him, the silence couldn’t continue for the whole trip because something both unexpected and expected for the battlefield happened when they got within a hundred kilometers of their destination.
One of the group members was the first to notice the anomaly. When this man saw that something was out of place, he pointed at the anomaly and said to the others, "Is that thing coming towards us? Are they friend or foe?"
His words aroused everyone from their languid and relaxed state. They stood up from wherever they were sitting and went over to the window to see what the man was pointing at.
What they saw was a large airship coming towards them at full speed. This airship is a bona fide airship with masts and large sails like the one that brought them from the Central Plain to the edge of the world.
The airship wasn’t like the dirigible that they were currently riding. It was big, fast, and armed with cannons. There were six large cannon barrels visible on both sides of the airship, which made a total of 12 cannons.
Meanwhile, their dirigible only had one cannon on both sides. This was not encouraging for them to see at all. So they hoped dearly that this strange and powerful airship coming towards them was an ally, not an enemy.
One of them turned to Greg and asked, "Are those our allies? Are they from the Four Directions Sect?"
But Greg didn’t reply. He continued to give the silent treatment to everyone and behaved as if he didn’t see anyone around him or even the strange airship before him.
Under Greg’s control, the dirigible continued on its forward trip without pausing or changing directions. This behavior caused everyone to relax. After all, since Greg wasn’t afraid of anything, they should have nothing to be worried about either.
One of Jane’s partners sighed in relief and said, "Since the boss isn’t afraid of them, the new guys should be our allies?"
Loki thought that this was wrong. He was full of suspicion and uneasiness as he said to himself, "The fact that he is not afraid only means he has something to rely on to preserve his life. It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be worried."
He thought this to himself, but didn’t voice it. He didn’t voice his thoughts mainly because he wasn’t sure of anything and because he wanted them to be right about the lack of a reason to worry.
However, just in case he was going to die, he decided to take one last look at the stock options and bets in the gambling section that he had been monitoring ever since he gained access to the stock market. He did this while hoping that he wouldn’t need the information any time soon.
Unfortunately for him and all of them, someone took a pair of binoculars and used them to look at the incoming airship. What they saw made them pale in fright.
Their eyes widened as they said, "They are all big and burly."
When the person nearby heard this, they snapped the binoculars from the man’s hands and used them to look at the airship. What they saw was a bunch of giants staring directly at the dirigible.
This sight made them swallow with difficulty. Then they dropped the binoculars while adrenaline began pumping into their bloodstream in preparation for fight or flight.
Jane went up to this second man and asked, "What did you see?"
The man said, "There are at least 20 of them, and they are mostly giants. The ones that are not giants have tattoos of beasts on their bodies."
Everyone heard what he said because the cabin was small. When they heard his words, they understood the implications far beyond what he didn’t say.
So someone else couldn’t help but say, "Aren’t those the manifestations of the two pathways of the Martial Body Sect?"
Another person said with fear evident in their voice, "Those are the disciples of the Martial Body Sect. How can they be our allies?"
This question was directed at everyone, but especially at Greg. Unfortunately, Greg still didn’t have anything to say.
Someone finally couldn’t take his silence anymore. This person was the lady who had bothered him with stupid questions until she asked a question that Greg thought was good.
She walked up to him and shouted, saying, "This is not the time to pout because we called you talkative. Enemies are coming, and a fight for our lives is about to start. You are our leader, so you should lead us."
"Don’t let your pride get in the way of victory. Or is your pride worth more than your life?"
"Even if your pride is that valuable, it is not as valuable as our lives. So get yourself together and do something."
