THE GOD EATER-Chapter 154: Working Together.
It was truly like an ocean wave crashing onto the shore. All of that fire was so much that it submerged the giant completely. His fearsome figure disappeared until all that could be seen was fire and more fire.
The power of the cannon still wasn’t enough to kill the giant, though. All of that fire and power barely fazed the giant.
The most important thing that the cannon succeeded in doing was to push the giant away from Greg and create some distance between them. This gave Greg the space needed to continue kiting the giant.
The giant didn’t have any ranged weaponry, as his only weapons were the two gauntlets on his hands. So he had no choice but to try to approach Greg again. This caused their cat-and-mouse chase to resume.
The giant yelled, saying, "Stand and fight if you dare."
But Greg had no plans do something so stupid. He also had no plans to make it easy for the giant to approach him. His Life Ability was constantly producing fire birds that exploded in the giant’s face.
The fight looked like it was going in their favor, but Loki’s face was grim as he watched. This was because he saw that Greg was running out of energy much faster than the giant.
In fact, the giant was barely expending any energy. Greg, on the other hand, was hemorrhaging energy producing those fire birds.
This made Loki frown and say, "If Greg runs out of energy, he will be screwed. No, we will all be screwed."
With this being so clear to him, he placed a tracking mark on the rank 4 giant. Then he activated the Siphon Ability to drain his internal energy.
After doing this, he turned his guns on the giant. He also said to the others, "We need to help Greg kill the giant."
No one moved to help despite his urging. So he rolled his eyes and said, "I know that many of you want to kill Greg, but it is not a good idea right now to wait until he dies before taking action. If you can’t handle Greg’s power, you will definitely not be able to handle the power of a giant that can withstand ten explosions from Greg per second."
This time, he was finally able to convince them to help Greg instead of waiting for the giant to kill him before piling on the giant. Everyone pitched in in one way or another to bring down the giant.
Mind Hunters affected his mind, rats rushed at him, and acidic insects swarmed him. The Mind Hunters were especially active because the giant had a glaring weakness in his mind. His mind was so weak that rank 3 Mind Hunters could toy with it.
Individually, they were not a match for the giant. And even together, they were still not a match for the giant. But they were able to wear down the giant little by little and distract it from going after Greg.
Their progress in killing the giant sped up after they killed the other 15 martial warriors. Everyone was able to focus on the giant with everything that they were capable of. So it only took them two minutes more to push the giant to its limit.
When the giant sensed death, it tried to fly away and escape. But they tied him down with everything they had and made sure that it couldn’t escape.
The Mind Hunters were the highest contributors to this. They attacked his mind, which prevented him from escaping. So they were able to finally kill him.
As the giant fell to the ground dead, everyone sighed in relief. Some of them also slumped to the ground, breathing hard and ventilating as hard as they could.
Loki himself rested on a master. He also deactivated his Life Ability and put it away.
As he looked at the mangled body of the giant, he said in admiration, "There were 10 of us, but it took us 11 minutes to kill him. Even then, he didn’t die because one of us dealt a fatal blow to him. He only died because he had sustained too many injuries to his body. What a champ."
"And his Dao Status is only at Level 3. If he were at rank 4, I doubt we would have been able to defeat him."
Then he snorted and said, "Heck, if he had been fast like the transformation warriors, we wouldn’t have been able to kill him at all. He would have picked us apart one by one. Are the people of the Martial Body Sect this strong, or are all rank 4 cultivators this strong?"
This question made him think of all of the rank 4 cultivators he had encountered. As he thought of them, he said to himself, Rusty himself is definitely not stronger than this giant. After all, he only has Level 3 Dao Status. But Skarg and Death Envoy might be much stronger than this giant because of their Level 4 Dao Status."
"No wonder Greg laughed when that lady said they could kill a rank 4 enemy. He was right to say that it was unlikely to happen, no matter how offensive he was about it."
This thought made him chuckle a little bit. He chuckled as he opened his token and went into the merit shop to check the amount of merit points that he just earned see if he can use them to acquire a level 2 Dao Status.
But his chuckles turned into a muffled groan as pain erupted from his stomach and radiated all over his body. The pain was so great that his hand became very weak and he lost hold of the token.
The token fell to the ground and rolled away as the entire world became a bright light and as something exploded in front of him. Then he was shaken because something had smashed into him and pushed him against the mast. Even the mast behind him had cracked because of the force of the collision.
When he was able to open his eyes, he looked down to see a large, burnt hole where his stomach and some of his ribs used to be. His spine had also been severed, so he couldn’t move his legs.
This made him look around for the source of the attack, but all he saw was that everyone else had been attacked. Some of them had died immediately, but even the ones that were alive were missing a large portion of their bodies.
But he heard someone walking by, so he looked at the source of the noise. What he saw was Greg walking leisurely to everyone and checking their conditions.
Loki was surprised that he was fine at first. But everything began to click in place when he realized that only Greg was fine and that Greg was checking to make sure that they were dead.
