THE GOD EATER-Chapter 187: Level 2.
If this star were to claim to be the most perfect thing in existence, he would accept that boast as the truth without hesitation. But this didn’t mean that he didn’t want to know what the star truly was.
He was very curious about the identity of the star, so he used the Power Identification Ability on it.
/SUPREME ????/
As it turned out, the only thing that Fenrir was able to tell was that this star was supreme. But this information was enough for him to make some guesses about its identity. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
He said to himself, "This must be the Supreme Metac of the Forging Pathway. What a magnificent sight it is."
As he was marveling at the sight, the star finally reached out to him. A tiny, insignificant, and minuscule portion of starlight detached from the star and came over to him.
The starlight was a fleck, actually. It was even tiny compared to his ant-like size. But when it entered his body, he felt as if the entire weight of the world had dropped on him. He immediately began to fall.
The world blurred around him as he fell back to the earth. When he recovered, he realized that he was still standing where he was when he bought the Level 2 Dao Status.
Everything around him looked the same. Apparently, only he had changed. This was because he could now sense that there was something else in his energy well that had an invisible string of force connecting him to something in the sky.
This string of force was pulling him up. But while he was still standing in the same position physically, the string of force has made it so that he now has more potential energy.
To be exact, he has twice as much potential energy as he should have. Even though his feet were on the ground, the string of force made him feel as if he was standing on high ground.
This made him say in awe, "So this is how the Dao Status empowers cultivators. This is more impressive than I thought."
But then he thought of the star in the sky that was powerful enough to pull everyone up. This thought flashed through his mind as he clicked his tongue and said, "Just how powerful is that star? Is it the mythical rank 9?"
"This is just the kind of power that it grants by pulling me up a little. What if I ascend to its level? What if I become the star? How powerful would I be then?"
He had so many questions and many things to think about. But he remembered that he still had work to do getting more merit points, so he put aside the questions for now and hurried towards the city.
The people of the city had learned that their city had been attacked, so everyone had run to hide and were cowering in their houses.
They were cowering because they had heard that the Four Directions Sect is a sect of evil people and murderers. The Martial Body Sect had propagated this information in order to smear the Four Directions Sect and make them look bad to every human in the small world.
What Loki found amusing about this was that everything the Martial Body Sect had said about them was completely true. The fact that the people went into hiding because of their fear of the Four Directions Sect was also the right thing to do.
But as amused as he was, he wasn’t going to stop what he came to do. He broke into a house by smashing through one of the walls. Then he smashed the ground and created a hole in it so that he could enter the basement through the hole.
He didn’t go looking for people through the house, and he didn’t bother to look for the entrance to the basement at all. What he did was to take a shortcut that led straight to his target.
It was as if he knew where they were without seeing them, which was the case thanks to the Telepathy Metac. He could see their minds through the walls, so he knew exactly where they were hiding.
After he found a family of three hiding in the basement. It was a man, presumably the father, a woman, and a young girl cowering in the darkness.
He didn’t ask them if they wanted to join the Four Directions Sect. What he did was to cut them a little and put his token in their wound.
The sect used the connection to determine whether they had been marked by the sect or not. If they don’t bear the mark of the sect, they are marked. Either way, he must kill them to make sure that the mark of the Four Directions Sect isn’t removed by the Martial Body Sect when he leaves.
Once they die, they will be forced to reincarnate in the Central Domain now that their souls have been marked for the Four Directions Sect. This completed the process of recruitment. In return, he earned three grade 3 merit points for his work.
With the three of them dead, he rushed out of the basement and went to the next house. He went there to repeat what he just did. People screamed in pain and despair as he went through the houses recruiting people.
Of course, the Four Directions Sect doesn’t kill people every time they recruit people. If these people were in a city under the control of the Four Directions Sect, they would not be killed after they had been recruited. They will be left alive so that they can reproduce and create more recruits for the sect.
The Martial Body Sect says that the people living in the cities under the control of the Four Directions Sect are like cattle being raised for the slaughter. This is only partially right.
It is true that the people in those cities are being raised like cattle. But it is not for slaughter, and it is not for eating.
