THE GOD EATER-Chapter 190: Heavy Judgement.
As they were laughing, Amelia’s angry voice cut through the laughter and shut everyone up because she said, "Shut up!!!"
Everyone shut up immediately, so the communication channel became as quiet as a graveyard. This allowed everyone to hear what she wanted to say clearly.
She said to Greg, "What did you do?"
Seeing as she was as serious as a heart attack, he decided to tell the truth. So he said, "I might have attacked him. It was a joke, of course. But he took it seriously and thought that I wanted to kill him. He wanted to kill me for the prank, so I left in order to preserve harmony."
This wasn’t exactly the truth, but it is the best truth that he can bear to tell. He is just too embarrassed to tell the whole unadulterated truth.
But what he feared came to pass. Amelia snorted and said, "Ivory, go and ask his subordinates what happened. I want multiple accounts, so I will know who is lying."
Before Ivory could acknowledge her order, Greg decided to step up.
He face-palmed and said, "Fine. I’ll tell the truth. I tried to kill him, but he was too strong and nearly killed me, so I ran."
Then he said sarcastically, "Is that what you wanted to hear? That I was at fault? Are you happy now that you’ve heard it? I hope you’re happy."
Amelia said to him in a stern voice, "Don’t talk to me with that tone."
Greg, who wanted to keep talking, quickly said, "Sorry."
Then he kept quiet and hoped for the best.
Unfortunately for him, the best didn’t come. Amelia said again, "Ivory, go and ask his subordinates what really happened. Make sure to ask multiple people so that we can get the full picture of what happened."
This time, Greg didn’t interject, so Ivory was able to say, "Got it, boss."
Greg groaned where he was. He groaned even harder when, a few minutes later, what he didn’t want to see happened.
Ivory came back and said to the voice channel, "They came to the city and breached it without any issue. But problems began when his subordinates went to attack the city. Greg attacked them from behind and killed one of them."
"They were on the ground on the way to the city when the friendly fire occurred. Greg was on the airship and in control of it. He attacked his subordinates with the cannons. When this killed one of them, he turned the cannons on another person and attacked them too."
"The second person he attacked was the same person who stood up for him and supported him when he suggested this attack mission to his subordinates. So instead of appreciating this subordinate or rewarding him, Greg tried to kill him."
"The rest is as Greg said. The subordinate refused to back down. Greg lost spectacularly after a few rounds of fighting. He had to escape, or he would have died. His urgency to escape was so great that he left his airship behind."
"With Greg gone, his subordinates went on to attack the city without fear of their captain firing on them. They killed the defenders of the city before they went into the city to do some recruitment. They were about to destroy the city when I arrived."
Then Ivory finished by saying, "That is all I know."
Amelia didn’t reply immediately. She was silent for a while, which made the atmosphere in the communication channel unnerving.
Where she was attacking the other city, she was actually gritting her teeth in anger. At that moment, she wished she could get her teeth on Greg and tear him apart.
After she got a hold of her anger, she said, "Is that so? Do you have anything to add, Greg?"
Greg replied with some fear, "It is more or less the truth."
So she said, "If it is truly the truth, it would seem that your post has no need for you. After all, without you there, they were able to defeat the defenders and take the city."
Then she chuckled and said, "It would seem it is even a good thing that you weren’t there to lead your troops to battle. Since you would have attacked them and tried to kill them if you were there."
"So, effective immediately, you are stripped of your position as captain of your post. That responsibility will go to someone who can handle it and won’t create problems for me."
Greg didn’t like this decision at all. So he was anxious as he said, "Please, don’t do that. I can still do my job. I promise to behave from now on."
But Amelia refused to budge. In fact, her anger seemed to intensify.
She raised her voice as she said, "Why should I believe that you can behave yourself now? If you could behave yourself, why didn’t you do so before?"
Before Greg could reply, she said, "I’ll tell you why? You behaved like that because you didn’t think I would do anything to you. You believed that you were untouchable because I needed strong people, and there was no way to replace you."
"That’s why you felt confident enough to kill any of your subordinates. Just three months ago, you killed nine of them at once. Imagine that."
At this point, she was so angry that she was laughing. She was laughing, but no one joined her in laughing. They knew better than to irritate her at this moment.
Meanwhile, she continued to say, "You know what? You were right. I needed you too much to punish you for people who were already dead."
"But that is not the case anymore. I don’t need you anymore."
"Now that your sins have caught up to you, it is time to pay. I want you to come to me within a day and explain why I shouldn’t kill you for your previous crimes. You either come to me, or you leave this earthly battlefield."
