Chapter 48: Preparing For The Worst.

Actually, it would be a good thing for Loki if Muni thinks with his butt. This is because Muni would be too stupid to sense the threat and coercion in Slav’s words.

But since Muni is very intelligent, he understood what Slav was saying. He also understood what Slav meant when he said that the explosion had destroyed every evidence of who attacked first and how the fight happened. This means that it is up to him to decide how the fight happened.

The more Muni thought about the situation, the more he was sure that Slav was responsible for the attempt on Loki’s life.

So he felt a chill down his spine as he thought to himself, "First, there was the attempt to kill Loki with a brute. If that doesn’t work, then the explosion will finish the job. If that still doesn’t work, there is still the option to put the blame on Loki. Just how many layers of schemes does this boy have?"

While he was still thinking about what to do, Slav encouraged him by saying, "Instructor Muni, don’t forget that Loki has been unruly most of the initiation program. So I believe it is reasonable that he did this. If you were to set the record straight, I believe that this will be an opportunity for you to punish Loki for his year-long unruly behavior."

Muni’s eyes lit up when he heard this. He would have surely sided with Slav, with just what Slav had said before. But now that Slav has mentioned how he can get Loki’s body, the body of a top performer, and use it as compensation for all of the people that Loki influenced to be lazy over the years, he gained an extra, more attractive motive to go along with Slav’s plan.

So he nodded to Slav and said, "What you said is right. I think it is more reasonable to believe that this unruly slave is the one who murdered the young man and destroyed the evidence with fire." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

His reply made Slav smile and say to Muni, "Then Loki should be apprehended and punished according to the full extent of the law."

Muni nodded in agreement and took action immediately. He used his water ropes to attack Loki. His goal was to bind Loki up into a bundle fit for auctioning.

He was even being careful about how he bound Loki. After all, he didn’t want to damage the merchandise and reduce its value.

But Loki didn’t appreciate his gentleness. His behavior only made Loki sigh in defeat and activate the Rewind Metac.

When he woke up later, it was a few seconds after he recovered his memories of the future in the last timeline. So the short sword that he was training with, and returned to his energy well, and he had just made up his mind not to go and kill Slav and all four of his lackeys.

This time, Loki laughed and said, "I have to give it to him this time around because he got me good."

He even clapped and said, "Well done with the schemes. Very well done. I am impressed."

He was laughing and clapping, but his eyes were chilling and sharp as the edge of a cold blade.

"I already knew not to think that the rules would protect me. It failed before, so it can fail again. But I didn’t expect that the rules would be used against me."

He chuckled with his chilling eyes and said, "So not only can’t the rules protect the victim, but it can even be used to punish the victim. This world is quite something marvelous."

He doesn’t consider himself a saint or a spotless innocent. He knows that he has broken the rules many times and would still break the rules many more times if not for the repercussions of doing so.

The reason he hasn’t gone on a killing spree is that he can’t get away with it. But someone like Slav can break the rules, get away with it, and even use the rules that he broke to punish the victim. This makes Loki both angry and jealous of Slav.

He, too, wishes he could manipulate the rules to his favor, not just break them when it is favorable. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a powerful family to make his words more compelling.

After praising Slav’s ingenuity for a while, he stood up from his bed and said, "Since you’ve made up your mind not to play by the rules, I won’t make things easy for you."

Then he left his room.

His destination is the market, not to kill Slav. He is going to the market to buy Metacs for training his body. Since he is already training his body, he decided to train his mind too.

He has never cared for things that he can’t take with him when he reverses time, because if he dies two months from now, all the effort he put into training his body and mind will go to waste.

But he wants to train his body and mind now because he needs a more powerful body to increase his chances of survival in one month’s time.

He is also planning for the endless hunt of the Rein Family once the initiation program is over. After all, if Slav can go to such an extent to kill him during the initiation program, it is just common sense for him to expect worse attempts on his life after the sect grounds stop protecting him completely.

He went to the market to purchase body refining Branch Metacs of the Forging Pathway, and only for the Forging Pathway, because this is the only pathway that he can show openly on his body.

The Sword Pathway also has its body refining Branch Metacs, but he can’t use them, as it will make it obvious that he possesses at least two pathways.

The Branch Metac that he got to refine his body was the Copper Body Metac. It is a Branch Metac that transforms the body into a durable and strong metallic body.
