Chapter 60: Resisting In Futility.

Loki groaned inwardly when he heard the terms that had been forced onto him.

He even thought to himself, "Why don’t you mind your business? Who asked you to help me? Now you’re threatening me for doing something I didn’t ask you for."

He thought that to himself, but outwardly he was solemn as he bowed and said to the zombie leader, "Thank you, sir, for believing in me."

Then he activated his Metacs in preparation for battle. He only activated the Metacs of the Forging Pathway, though. With so many powerful people watching, he doesn’t dare play any tricks.

He activated the three Liquid Metal Metacs to create the suit of heavy plate armor, the tower shield, and the large claymore. Next, he activated the Body Lever Metac, the Living Armament Metac, and the Telekinesis Metac to lighten the load of the heavy plate armor and increase the power of his body.

He was taking this fight so seriously that he also wanted to activate the Gatling Gun Metac and the Knife Box Metac. After all, he had many reasons to take this fight seriously.

There is the reward for winning the competition, the joy of beating Slav up, and the protection of the zombie leader from the machinations of the Rein Family. So it is the right decision to try his best to pummel Slav into the ground.

But he didn’t activate those extra Metacs because he had already activated six Metacs and didn’t want to expose his abnormally strong Dao Heart.

The fact that he can activate six Metacs at the same time with a mind power of 2 units means that his Dao Heart is at level 3. Both this kind of mind and Dao Heart are already very impressive for a rank 1 cultivator to have. Anymore, and he will become a freak to be dissected and sold in parts.

Besides, he didn’t think he would need more than this to defeat Slav. So he gave up on using the Gatling Metac for now. He can still use it later if he needs it. He will just deactivate some of his other Metacs first so that he will be able to stay within the safe limit of six Metacs.

With his Metacs, he marched towards the arena that Slav was in. He walked forward like a soldier going to his death. Some took it as him taking this fight seriously. But Loki was just being serious because the alternative expression wouldn’t be acceptable.

As for the fight that was going on in the arena before the interruption, it quickly ended before Loki entered the arena. Craig still wanted to fight, but he knew that he couldn’t win, so he gave up reluctantly.

Slav made sure to throw a mocking jab at him as he left by saying, "Imagine that. You lost both the fight, your honor, and the money. So what was your foolish stubbornness for?"

Craig didn’t reply. He continued walking as the fire of determination burning within his chest flared even higher.

If Slav had defeated him fair and square, he might have accepted defeat. But Slav had used his poverty against him, so there was no way he could be reconciled with his defeat.

The defeat has only reinforced his idea of how Slav is only powerful because of his rich background. So Slav’s mocking words didn’t get to him. Instead of giving up, he has only become more determined to defeat Slav someday.

When Slav didn’t get his desired response from Craig, he turned to Loki in the distance and said, "What about you? Are you going to waste my time by resisting in futility?"

Loki replied with a smile, "You know I can’t do that."

The visor on his helmet was closed, so his smile couldn’t be seen. But Slav could tell that Loki was looking forward to beating him.

So the young master snorted in disdain. Then he activated his own Metacs, too.

He activated the Money Armor Metac, the Throwing Money Metac, and the Money Speaks Metac. The three activated Metacs caused his body to light up with a golden aura.

The golden aura was mainly caused by the Money Armor Metac. This Metac created a barrier around him that will continue to protect him as long as he has energy stones on his person.

As for the other two, Slav waited until Loki entered the ring before he used them. So when Loki entered the arena, Slav used the Money Speaks Metac immediately.

He said to Loki, "Kneel."

This Metac also consumes Metacs. In exchange, it creates a mental attack that compels the target into doing whatever the user of the Metac demands.

Lastly, there was the Throwing Money Metac. This Metac fuses energy stones into bombs that will explode on contact. So this Metac literally turns money into a weapon.

Slav didn’t use any contract against Loki because Loki doesn’t owe anyone any money. Loki has borrowed money in this timeline, but he has paid off his loan a long time ago, which means that Slav can only burn money in order to win this fight.

In response to all of these attacks, Loki used the Power Identification Ability to see what he was up against. He used it to determine how strong Slav was and what attacks Slav was using against him.

Race: Human

Energy Quantity: 95

Energy Density: 4.

Energy Rank: 1.

Body: 2

Soul: 2

Metac: Contract.

As he was doing this, the attack of the Money Speak Metac struck him. The power of this attack was 1(Cultivation Rank) × ((2(Mind) + 1(Contract)) × 2(Money Speaks), which is 6 units. So it is a very powerful attack.

Anyone else would succumb to the mental suggestion in the mental attack and kneel down instead of fighting. But Loki is not everyone else.

He has an innate Mental defense of 2(Mind) × 5(Dao Heart), which is 10 units. So even without using the Mind Shield Metac of the Mind Hunter Pathway, he can easily defend against this attack.
