Chapter 64: Official Disciples.

The third thing they did after the competition was to officially join the sect. Apparently, they aren’t members of the Four Directions Sect just because they had survived the initiation program. They still have to undergo a registration process.

The registration procedure was easy and straightforward. Information about them, such as their name and pathway, was taken and used to fill a form. If they had joined a society, they were also required to write down the name of the society that they had joined in the form.

Once all of their information had been written into the form, the necessary parties had to sign the form. The cultivator themselves have to sign it. But the leader or vice leader of their society also had to sign the form to confirm that he had truly joined their society.

Finally, their instructor, Muni, had to sign the form. He would also write down his evaluation of the cultivator about their performance during the initiation program.

Once all of this was done, the clerk at the registration office would take their form and file it. The filling process needed to be done immediately, and their information was input into the system before they could continue the registration process.

All in all, this step of the process takes a few seconds. After their information is input into the system, the system will assign them a unique mark. The clerk will then print out the unique mark as an identity card, which they have to bind with their blood.

The binding of blood is the final step in joining the sect. The completion of this process means that the cultivator has officially become a member of the Four Directions Sect.

When Loki completed the process and used his blood to refine the Metac in the shape of a circular medallion, he received pieces of information from it similar to the information he receives from Fenrir when he uses the Power Identification Ability.

Name: Loki

Title: Unavailable.

Cultivation: Rank 1

Merit Points: 0.

Contribution Points: 5,000

Society (Position): Death Claw (Member)

Pending Debt (Amount/Interest Rate): Awakening (100,000/1,000 per month)

Current Missions: None.

The information was very long, as it even included the date that he awakened. When he saw the list of information, he thought to himself, "Does the Four Directions Sect have a computer system that they use to log the details of their members? How are they keeping track of all of these data?"

He was told that the Metac he bound with his blood could be used to access information about himself that the sect knew and was willing to let him see. So there was information about him that the sect knew that he couldn’t see yet.

This reminded him of trying to get a high-security job back in his past life. Everything was serious and done according to an established set of protocols.

This made him click his tongue and say, "Anyway, the Four Directions Sect seems to be taking this registration process really seriously."

His caretaker, a rank 2 cultivator who was assigned to him by the society to help him settle down, shook his head and said, "You don’t know just how much the sect takes the registration process seriously. Once you become a disciple of the sect, the sect will mark you with a unique symbol that will remain with you through several lifetimes and can be used to find you."

"If you die and find your way back to the sect in your next life, even if you don’t remember that you used to be a member of the sect, the sect will remember you through your mark, and your contribution points and merit points from your last life will be credited back to you."

"This is why many people say that the bank of the sect is the most secure way to store your money. After all, as long as you convert all your wealth to contribution points, not even death will make you lose it."

This made Loki’s eyes light up and say, "How impressive. Maybe I should convert all of my money to contribution points then."

The 5,000 contribution points in his account were the reward for taking first place in the competition. If not for that reward, his contribution points will be zero, just like his merit points.

He didn’t think there was anything great about the contribution points when he first heard about their uses. But now that he knew that contribution points couldn’t be lost upon death, their value has skyrocketed beyond the value of energy stones.

But just as he said that he wanted to convert all of his wealth into contribution points, the Caretaker, Jim, said, "Don’t rush to do that just yet."

Loki asked in confusion, "Why not?"

Jim shrugged and said, "Just know all the information first. For example, if someone higher up in the sect freezes your account, you will lose access to all of your money. There is also the fact that any debt you incur to the sect will be withdrawn directly from your account."

"Actually, I’m not so sure that last one is bad because if you owe the sect money, not even death will be able to help you avoid it. Once you reincarnate, the sect will find your new reincarnation and put it to work paying back your debt."

"And if your debt is particularly heinous, the sect will take charge of your reincarnation process, select a new body for you to reincarnate in, and make you work for several lifetimes until your debt is paid off completely."

"So maybe it is not a bad thing that all of your wealth will be in your account, and the sect can withdraw their payment directly. Because if you owe the sect money and die with your wealth in the form of energy stones, the sect won’t be able to take their payment from your energy stones and will have to track you down after death."
