The Grand Duke's Son Is A Heretic-Chapter 478
Kael's voice rang out as he walked in.
He had barely taken a step when Ariana rushed toward him. "Where have you gone, my Lord?"
"The Duke almost went crazy and cursed all the Veydrin ancestors."
Kael replied casually."Kekeke… he won't be angry after seeing what I brought back."
"What?" Ariana asked.
"…What?" the others echoed.
…..
Duke Serpentine and Melvin appeared.
Duke Serpentine's first reaction was to curse but he quietened down as
Kael spread a large map on the table and began marking points on it.
Kael picked up a piece of chalk and drew several circles and lines.
"Listen carefully," he said, his tone shifting completely. "This is not guesswork. This is what the enemy is doing."
He tapped the eastern section of the map.
"First, their structure. The Nightstar forces here look strong, but it is just a shell. Their command is centralized, and most decisions come from only a few core leaders. If those heads fall, the rest will collapse."
He moved his finger along the border.
"These are their blind spots. Supply routes that are poorly guarded because they believe no one knows about them. They rely heavily on speed and intimidation, not stability."
Kael marked another section.
"Here are their strengths. Heavy infantry, dark-aligned mages, and sacrificial units. Their weapons are crude but enchanted. High damage, but they have low durability. They burn through resources fast."
He circled a cluster of symbols.
"These are the mages. They are powerful, but they need preparation time. Long chants, fixed positions, and protection. If you disrupt them early, they are useless."
He paused and then drew a bold red mark.
"And this," he said, pressing the chalk harder, "is their biggest weakness."
Everyone leaned in.
"Most of their attention is on the ritual."
"What ritual?"Melvin asked, to which Kael explained.
Hearing this, a look of horror flashed on everyone's face.
"Those sinful guys….I can't tell people they are willing to fall this low."Seraphina squeezed her fist reacting angrily but others ignored. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Kael straightened and pointed to the center of the map.
"Here it is…. Creole City."
The name echoed heavily in the tent.
"They will perform the ritual there on the full moon night," Kael continued. "Everything leads to this point. Troop movement, supply chains, even sacrifices. If we break this node, the entire plan collapses."
"So we can take it a bit slow—"Kael stopped mid-sentence.
He frowned and looked up.
The atmosphere felt wrong.
"…Why do you all look so pale?" Kael asked, looking around in confusion. "What happened?"
No one spoke for a moment.
Duke Serpentine suddenly slammed his fist onto the table.
"It's because of the full moon."
"Do you know when the full moon is?"
Kael shook his head.
"Day after tomorrow
"…Day after tomorrow?" Kael repeated.
"Yes," Duke Serpentine said grimly. "We have just two days before the full moon."
The words hit Kael like a hammer.
His eyes widened, and he jumped back a step.
"What the fuckkkk!"
The tent fell silent.
Kael ran a hand through his hair, his mind racing.
"Those bastards…" he muttered. "They didn't give us any breathing room."
He took a deep breath and looked at everyone.
"Alright," Kael said, his voice steady again. "No need to panic. "
He slammed his palm onto the map.
His eyes burned with resolve."Prepare everything. We are moving now."
...…..
The night before the war was heavy and restless.
All across the camp, soldiers moved with tense faces and sharp eyes. Armor was checked again and again. Swords were sharpened until they gleamed under torchlight. Horses stamped the ground, sensing the killing intent that hung thick in the air. Commanders walked between lines, shouting orders, correcting formations, and reminding everyone of their roles.
Duke Serpentine stood before the soldiers.
His eyes were calm, but his jaw was clenched. This was not a defensive war. This was an invasion meant to cut the enemy apart before they could react.
"We strike at their weak points," the Duke said firmly. "We break their outer rings and collapse inward. Our final meeting point is Creole City."
He pointed at the map, where five red marks were drawn like wounds.
Kael took one side. Melvin took another. Sol was placed in command of the Iron Knights, the heaviest force. Ariana took a separate route to deal with mages and ritual guards. Gare, Vic, Handle, and Chris were assigned to the last point, tasked with disruption and chaos.
Five directional attack.
The Duke stayed back, watching the narrow gorge before Creole City. That was the throat.
Once it opened, he would push everything through.
"When the gorge opens," he said quietly, "we end this."
No one spoke after that.
...…
The war began before dawn.
The standing Nightstar army barely had time to react when horns roared from every direction. From hills, forests, and open plains, massive forces surged forward like a tidal wave of steel and flesh.
The clash was instant and brutal.
Shields shattered. Spears pierced armor. Bodies slammed into the ground and were trampled without mercy. Blood sprayed across the dirt, turning it slick and dark. Screams of pain and fury mixed with the thunder of marching feet.
This was not a clean battle.
This was a slaughter.
At the first marked point, Melvin's force crashed into the enemy flank. His soldiers moved fast and ruthless, cutting down confused defenders who were still trying to form lines. Blades rose and fell without pause. The ground was soon littered with corpses, faces frozen in shock.
At another point, Ariana led her unit straight into the mage formation. Spells flared and collided, lighting the battlefield in violent colors.
Ariana raised her sword and tore through enemy casting lines, her soldiers following closely as they butchered panicked mages who failed to retreat in time.
Sol advanced with the Iron Knights like a living wall. Heavy armor slammed forward, shields locked, swords thrusting with mechanical precision. Every step crushed resistance. Enemy soldiers were thrown back like broken dolls, their ranks collapsing under sheer force.
On the fourth front, Gare and the others struck fast and hard. They did not hold ground. They burned supply wagons, slaughtered commanders, and vanished before reinforcements could arrive. Confusion spread faster than fire.
Five points were hit at once.
...…
Kael's march was the most brutal.
His unit moved straight toward a fortified city on the outer ring. The gates barely had time to close before the assault hit. Kael did not wait for siege weapons.
"FORWARD!" he roared.
His soldiers answered with a deafening scream.
They crashed into the defenders like mad beasts. Kael was at the front with his sword flashing as he cut down anyone in his path.
BANGGGG!
With a strong strike,he cut down the huge door, slashing it open.He then moved without hesitation, without mercy. Every swing ended a life.
The streets turned into killing grounds.
Enemy soldiers tried to regroup, but Kael tore through them, carving a path deeper into the city. His men followed, screaming, hacking, and trampling over the fallen.
Houses burned. The walls collapsed. The smell of blood and smoke filled the air until breathing became painful.
"DON'T STOP!"
"PUSH IN!"
