The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 182: Ethan Grant Confronts Yvette Aston for Her Sake
Ethan Grant subtly withdrew his arm from Paige Fulton’s grasp and moved to stand closer to Yvette Aston. "I brought my sister-in-law over for a meal."
"..." Paige paused, thinking she had misheard. "Who is this?"
"I... I’m Mr. Grant’s assistant," Yvette hurriedly explained, interrupting Ethan’s words.
Did he just say sister-in-law?
Ethan frowned, giving Yvette a meaningful look as if reminding her not to forget her identity.
Yvette then realized that her purpose was to ward off women for Ethan.
But does she also need to fend off this Paige Fulton?
"Assistant?" Paige’s smile was charming, and there was something familiar about her demeanor. "When did Ethan change his assistant to a female one?"
"I... I’m also Ethan’s kept lover!" Yvette blurted out impulsively, stammering in her excitement.
This way, Paige wouldn’t cling to Ethan, right?
Ethan took a deep breath, clearly exasperated with Yvette.
Lover?
To Yvette, is he merely a lover?
"Ethan..." Paige was shocked, then covered her mouth with a laugh. "So Ethan isn’t as aloof as the rumors say, and besides me, there are other girls who can get close to you, huh?"
Paige spoke with ambiguity, crouching in front of Summers, whispering softly. "Hello little one, you’re so cute, do you know me?"
Summers shook her head, hiding behind Yvette.
"I know you, I’ve seen your photo on billboards," Stephen Sinclair said with a hint of pride.
"Wow, this little one knows me. Do you know my relationship with your uncle?" Paige asked with deep implication.
"I don’t know," Stephen shook his head.
"Can I be your aunt?" Paige teased Stephen deliberately, as if saying it for Ethan and Yvette to hear.
Ethan furrowed his brow, just about to speak when Stephen placed his hands on his hips and spoke up for him. "No way, I already have an aunt, and she’s prettier than you, plus she makes delicious braised ribs."
Paige felt briefly awkward, assuming the child was just speaking offhandedly. "Ethan, my brother just returned from M Country to visit me, do you want to join us for a meal?"
By the floor-to-ceiling window, the man who was sitting with Paige stood up and walked over.
The man was quite tall, and even with the light behind him, Yvette could feel his intense presence.
"Harrison Sterling." Ethan held Yvette’s hand and introduced her.
Harrison came over with a serious expression.
His gaze landed on Ethan holding Yvette’s hand, clearly displeased. "Mr. Grant, I haven’t seen you in a while, and you’ve succumbed to worldly desires?"
Harrison’s voice was low, clearly dismissing Yvette.
Is this his way of mocking Ethan, suggesting he’s fallen to the point of keeping a lover?
Yvette looked up at Harrison, then nervously withdrew her wrist, keeping her head down, not daring to look up.
She’s sure to bring Ethan trouble.
Harrison Sterling, is a name that few wouldn’t know.
Ethan Grant from Meridia, and Harrison Sterling from the M Country’s wealthiest Sterling family.
Domestically, Ethan rivals Henry Jennings, but the Sterling family’s century-long enterprise far surpasses the Grant and Jennings families in background and strength.
Moreover, Harrison himself is an exceedingly capable individual.
Fortunately, Ethan’s ability is outstanding; within just a few years, he elevated the Grant Group to the Sterling family’s level, creating a business legend.
Yvette doesn’t understand the relationship between Ethan and Harrison, but... she knows her presence causes others to belittle Ethan.
"I’ve heard the true daughter of the Sterling family hasn’t been found yet, but President Sterling still has the leisure to sit here for a meal." Striking where it hurts, who wouldn’t? Ethan knows Harrison’s weakness and his scars. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Years ago, The Sterling Matriarch, Harrison’s mother, a rare businesswoman, was eight months pregnant and in Meridia for business when her water broke during a meeting. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and gave birth to a daughter.
Mrs. Sterling had three sons, and this last daughter should have been the most precious jewel among them all, treated as an absolute princess by the entire Sterling family.
Unfortunately, similar to the Aston family’s situation, Mrs. Sterling discovered her blood type didn’t match her three years after bringing her daughter home, realizing her daughter was switched at birth.
The daughter she brought home was Paige Fulton, not the real princess of the Sterling family, yet she enjoyed all the Sterling family’s wealth and privileges.
As for the real eldest daughter of the Sterling family, she remains missing.
The nurses at the hospital during that year have been thoroughly investigated by the Sterling family, yet they still haven’t found the true eldest daughter.
As the eldest of the Sterling family, Harrison once vowed that he wouldn’t return to the family without finding his sister. Now, in his thirties, he still hasn’t found her. Yet here he is, meddling in Ethan’s affairs about keeping a lover.
Harrison’s face indeed darkened.
Not only Harrison, but Paige, being the Sterlings’ foster daughter with no blood relation, also awkwardly changed her expression.
"Ethan..." Paige smiled to ease the embarrassment. "You haven’t seen my brother in so long, don’t argue right when you meet, or I’ll misunderstand and think you’re fighting over me."
Paige chuckled softly, displaying a strong sense of speech artistry.
Ethan took Yvette’s hand again. "If you say that, my beloved will misunderstand too."
Yvette kept her head down, too afraid to look up.
"Beloved? Ethan Grant, you better open your eyes, don’t let a lifetime’s reputation be ruined by a woman," Harrison’s voice was deep. "If I’m not mistaken, this should be the fake Yvette Aston, the one who deliberately altered the true Aston daughter’s twenty-year life path and was sentenced to five years for extortion, right?"
Ethan’s eyes instantly turned icy, the tension palpable between the two powerful men.
Harrison sneered. "Indeed, she’s quite beautiful, just an empty shell. It seems you’re a common man too, Mr. Grant."
"President Sterling..." Yvette bit her lip, her voice hoarse, looking at Harrison. "Listening to rumors, judging someone with your ears, and attacking your first-time acquaintance’s female companion like this, you say Ethan’s conventional, so what about you? Vulgar, or just lacking manners?"
Ethan smiled slightly, tightening his grip on Yvette’s hand.
He loves the feeling of being protected by Yvette...
And even feels a bit proud.
Harrison paused, seemingly surprised at Yvette’s courage to retort.
Is this due to Ethan’s spoiling?
He squinted, studying Yvette for some time.
For some reason... looking into Yvette’s eyes gave Harrison a slight pang in his chest.
Ha... she truly is a formidable woman.
Seems like she’s adept at beguiling men.
He almost found himself interested in her too.
With a cold laugh, Harrison spoke. "It’s not scary to know someone by ear, but to know someone by law is more frightening. Would I need to seriously know a fraudster who’s been to prison?"
Yvette bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Harrison Sterling, my woman doesn’t need your lessons," Ethan warned, looking at Harrison before speaking again. "I recall your grandfather was once framed by competitors and imprisoned for economic crimes. What? Your grandfather could be falsely accused, but she must be guilty? Before you understand the situation, keep your mouth shut."
