The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 1973 - 1972: Journey to the Moon
Ling Feng was taken aback: "What does that mean?"
"I mean, the last time Americans landed on the Moon was decades ago, and people still debate its authenticity. This time you’re going to space, landing on the Moon; it’s at least the first for Huaxia!" Han Wancheng said.
"Oh, got it!"
Ling Feng chuckled and then said, "When the time comes, I’ll give a speech that’ll overshadow the Americans!"
Their conversation was through an internal line, so the people watching the live broadcast couldn’t hear it. Otherwise, if the American experts on site heard it, who knows what they’d think.
After exchanging a few words, the conversation ended, leading to a long wait.
There are many pre-launch preparations and fuel injections for the rocket; it’s not like you can just launch it immediately.
Ling Feng and Little Li waited quietly, with reports from the command center coming through their headphones. So far, all data was normal.
As the launch countdown began and there were ten minutes left, everyone on Lingyun Island fell silent, and their hearts started to race.
Ling Feng didn’t feel much; instead of being nervous, he was actually feeling quite excited.
He turned to look at Little Li. Through the two layers of helmet glass, he saw her rolling her eyes in boredom, and couldn’t help but ask: "How do you feel right now?"
"Just bored, why haven’t we launched yet? Hurry up and ignite, let’s get into the air!" Little Li said.
"You’re really calm!"
Ling Feng laughed and continued, "Just thinking that I’m about to enter space and then land on the Moon makes my heart beat a little faster!"
As soon as he finished saying that, before Little Li could reply, Li Tong’s voice came through the headphones: "Your heartbeat isn’t just fast; it’s a bit scary. Calm down quickly!"
"Oh, got it."
Ling Feng nodded, took a deep breath, and steadied his body.
In the command center, the staff responsible for monitoring Ling Feng’s physical data sighed in relief.
Seeing Ling Feng’s heart rate spike to two hundred almost made him contact the chief commander to halt the launch!
With such a heart rate, wouldn’t he burst a blood vessel once the rocket ignites and takes off?
Luckily, Li Tong knew what was happening and quickly reminded Ling Feng; otherwise, the launch would be delayed, if not stopped.
"10, 9, 8..."
The final ten-second countdown began, and white smoke billowed from the bottom of the rocket. As the countdown reached zero, a burst of flames erupted!
In the midst of a huge roar, white smoke and orange flames surged out, and the rocket began to lift off slowly!
Under the intense watch of the people, the rocket with a massive white tail trace ascended and quickly soared into the sky!
In the command center, a series of reports came in rapid succession, and all data were normal.
Meanwhile, inside the spacecraft, Ling Feng finally felt the immense G-force!
As the rocket accelerated, the sense of oppression became stronger!
Moreover, the ascent wasn’t entirely smooth; the spacecraft was shaking violently, making him very uncomfortable!
Grinding his teeth to endure, Little Li casually asked: "Boss, are you alright? Can you handle it?"
Ling Feng was speechless, turned to glance at her, and saw that she showed no sign of discomfort at all, feeling quite helpless!
Fortunately, the rocket quickly broke through the atmosphere into absolute vacuum, and the boosters at the bottom had already separated. The second-stage booster also shut off and then detached.
The speed stabilized instantly, and Ling Feng let out a long breath, looked at Little Li: "This isn’t just because you’re used to it; it’s related to your physique or ability!"
"Anyway, I feel fine!"
Little Li shrugged, then looked at the distant Moon: "How long is it going to take us to get there?"
"It’ll take a long time, it looks close, but you’ll know once we fly there!"
Ling Feng unclasped several safety belts, fully releasing himself, then moved around in the cramped spacecraft space.
Various reports from the ground came through the headphones, but he wasn’t too concerned, just enjoying the feeling of weightlessness.
The rest of the flight would take over ten hours, so after moving around a bit, he returned to his seat.
Little Li ignored him, her gaze fixed on the view outside the window.
Ling Feng sat for a while before asking: "Li Tong, are you there?"
"Yes, what’s up?" Li Tong asked.
"How’s that asteroid doing now? Who will reach Earth first, me or it?" Ling Feng asked.
"According to calculations, it will arrive an hour before you!" Li Tong said.
Ling Feng let out a sound, then asked: "Will it have any impact?"
"It shouldn’t!"
Li Tong pondered for a moment before continuing: "Don’t overthink it. Check the situation when you arrive. Its landing point is on the far side of the Moon, so we won’t be able to see it!"
"Understood!"
Ling Feng nodded and didn’t ask further.
The wait was extremely dull.
Especially when floating in space, without a frame of reference, you can’t feel the spacecraft’s motion at all.
This feeling of time dragging was excruciating.
As time passed minute by minute, inch by inch, the spacecraft finally approached the lunar orbit, soon ready to land.
Then, Little Li suddenly pointed into the distance: "Boss, look!"
Ling Feng turned his head and saw outside the window a massive black object falling toward the lunar surface!
That elongated object was the target of his mission!
Staring dumbfounded for several seconds, Ling Feng immediately asked: "Command center, did you see that?"
After a moment of silence, Li Tong’s voice came through the headphones: "Saw it, it’s a big spaceship!"
"I think it still looks like a meteorite; the surface is too rough!"
Ling Feng chuckled and continued: "But the descent speed is definitely strange; it seems like it’s controlled by someone."
"Whether it’s a person or something else, you’ll find out soon!"
Li Tong said calmly, then reminded: "After landing, don’t rush to leave the capsule. Observe first before making any moves!"
Ling Feng nodded: "Got it!"
The spacecraft was under Earth control, requiring no operation from him. After landing, he would assess the situation. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Before long, the spacecraft separated again, with the landing module carrying Ling Feng and Little Li igniting and heading toward the lunar surface!
This scene was watched by the people on Earth, and their hearts suspended once more!
Launch was critical, and so was landing, everyone was tense, staring at the screens without daring to blink.
As the altitude decreased, the Moon’s gravity became more apparent, and Little Li’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
When the spacecraft was two hundred meters from the surface, it began to decelerate.
Everything was normal, and when the spacecraft gently touched down on the lunar surface, Ling Feng didn’t hear it, but in the command center on Earth, there was an immediate eruption of cheers!
