Li Shiyun nodded upon hearing this and said, "Alright, then go inside and fill out the necessary sections, write the contract duration as ten years, sign your name at the end, and press your thumbprint. That’ll be enough."

Ling Feng nodded, grabbed the contract, and was about to head back to the room. He hesitated, then turned back, "Aren’t you coming in to sit for a bit?"

"No need, I’ll wait for you at the door!" Li Shiyun said, expressionless.

Seeing her attitude, Ling Feng was at a loss for words. How deep was her grudge?

However, he didn’t take it to heart and chuckled, "Am I that scary?"

Li Shiyun didn’t respond but shot him a glare.

After Ling Feng entered, she had thought he would finish filling out the contract quickly. Yet, it took him ten minutes before she heard him asking from inside, "Village Chief, there’s a character I don’t recognize!"

"You don’t need to recognize it, just skip it!" Li Shiyun barked.

A moment later, Ling Feng shouted again, "Village Chief, should the thumbprint go right above the name?"

"Yes!" Li Shiyun was even more annoyed now.

A few minutes passed, and Ling Feng called out, "Village Chief, what does this ’final interpretation right’ mean?"

Li Shiyun couldn’t hold back anymore. She stormed into the room with heavy steps, yelling at him, "Are you doing this on purpose? This contract is a standard template that’s been printed out. What, you think I’m going to cheat you or something?"

Ling Feng grinned mischievously; he was doing it on purpose!

This girl stood at the door giving him the cold shoulder—did she really think he couldn’t handle her? Now what? She still came into the room, right?

After snickering to himself, he scratched his head and said with an innocent face, "It’s my first time signing a contract, you know. The main issue is that I lack experience!"

"Here, let me tell you, you fill in the date here, write your name here, and press your thumbprint!" Li Shiyun was nearly hysterical as she yelled.

It wasn’t until Ling Feng finished filling everything out and she double-checked everything that she finally relaxed, "Give me the rent within these few days, and then you can start dabbling in your breeding business!"

As she turned to leave after speaking, Ling Feng called her back and handed over three bundles of cash, "No need, I have the money right now!"

"You’ve got it all ready?" Li Shiyun asked in surprise.

"Of course, take it," Ling Feng said with a smile.

Li Shiyun was somewhat caught off guard, but she accepted the money. Then she said, "I’ll give you a receipt tomorrow, and that’s it."

After speaking, she took the money and the contract and left.

When she first arrived in Shiliu Village, she found that the village was completely different from what she had imagined. There was almost no able-bodied labor, only the elderly, the sick, orphans, and widows!

And in the village accounts, there was less than a thousand yuan, the poverty was simply astonishing!

Now, with these thirty thousand yuan, there was finally some money in the accounts, and she could get to work!

It wasn’t long after Li Shiyun left that nightfall enveloped Shiliu Village. Ling Feng closed the door and went back to the inner room, flopped onto the bed, and rested his head on his arms, pondering his next move.

The pheasants in the mountain were very wild. The villagers had tried artificial breeding before, but adult pheasants were tough to manage. They could escape through the gaps even when penned in with nets, and they wouldn’t eat anything but the correct feed. In the end, out of a brood of more than a dozen pheasants, only two were successfully raised.

It wasn’t just their wild nature that was an issue, but also their diet. He couldn’t possibly spend all day catching bugs for the pheasants, could he?

The current number was manageable, but if there were more, it would be overwhelming.

After ruminating for a while, Ling Feng suddenly sat up from his bed, thinking with determination that he had the Classic of the Divine Farmer—surely he should be able to solve such a minor problem.

So, he immediately focused his mind, opened the inheritance he had received, and started searching carefully.

And sure enough, he found something useful!

Behind the introduction about herbs and elixirs, there was a Taming Technique, and Ling Feng’s eyes lit up the moment he saw it!

He was right to think so, as mankind had moved from primitive society to the agricultural era, mastering the various plants in the world while also attempting to tame all sorts of wild beasts. How could the Classic of the Divine Farmer include only the method for plants?

Without any hesitation, Ling Feng opened the Taming Technique, and suddenly everything went black before his eyes. When he came to, he felt as if a mysterious power had been added to his body.

Even though it was already night, he could hardly contain himself. He immediately got up, rushed out of the house, and went to the cage where a dozen or so small mountain chickens were kept in the backyard!

Startled by the noise, the mountain chickens, which had been huddled together with their eyes closed, all opened their eyes vigilantly to survey their surroundings. Upon seeing Ling Feng, however, they didn’t scatter and run frantically within the cage like before!

Being watched by a dozen pairs of eyes that looked like black beans, Ling Feng smiled and said, "Listen up, all of you. Behave and obey from now on, or else I’ll deal with you!"

He had only wanted to try it out, but to his surprise, after he spoke, those small mountain chickens seemed to really understand him and even nodded their heads slightly!

"Holy shit! Is it really this magical?"

Ling Feng was stunned and then immediately overwhelmed with ecstasy!

If he could make the mountain chickens obey, then he could do the same with other wild animals in the mountains. Wouldn’t catching game become incredibly easy?

At that thought, his mind’s eye envisioned a gold mine. If it weren’t already late, he would have wanted to rush into the mountains to try it right away!

Trying to be patient until dawn, Ling Feng gave the small mountain chickens some millet in their cage, and then instructed them, "Eat this properly, and I’ll feed you again when I come back at noon."

Although the small mountain chickens didn’t nod this time, they all ran over and began pecking at the millet.

Keep in mind that they had never eaten grain before and only ate live insects!

Ling Feng had tried several times unsuccessfully, and if he hadn’t felt it would be a pity to let them starve to death, he would have given up on them.

Now that a single sentence had an effect, how could he not be happy with such a result?

Thus, Ling Feng turned and left his home, mounted his tricycle, and entered the mountains once more.

He had two goals for going into the mountains today: one was to continue looking for small mountain chickens to bring back for breeding, and the other was to test his Taming Technique to see how effective it was and whether he could control all animals.

When he reached the end of the mountain path, Ling Feng parked his tricycle and started walking into the mountains.

Reaching the spot where he had found the Lingzhi mushroom and recalling how he had made a tidy sum from it, Ling Feng still felt somewhat fortunate. Had it not appeared by chance, he would certainly still be searching for a glimpse of mountain chickens now.

Just as he was about to move on, there was a rustling in the bushes, and a wild hare dashed out at great speed.

Upon seeing this, Ling Feng immediately shouted, "You, hare, stop right there!"

No sooner had his words fallen than the hare’s body shuddered, and then it stopped, turned its head back, and looked at Ling Feng with eyes that seemed full of confusion.

"I’m talking to you, come here quickly, no dawdling!"

Ling Feng was unsure himself, seeing the hare’s hesitant behavior, he felt as if his Taming Technique wasn’t very advanced. Could he not even control a hare?

But at that moment, the hare actually turned back and hopped over to Ling Feng’s feet!

Overjoyed by this development, Ling Feng immediately grabbed the hare by the ears and said, "Let’s see if you can run away this time, you little rascal!"
