Li Shiyun shook her head, "Forget it, I am the Village Chief after all. How would it look for me to get into a physical fight with a man in front of everyone?"

Ling Feng was taken aback, "That doesn’t sound like you?"

After a moment of surprise, he suddenly realized something and asked, "You’re not afraid of hitting too hard and accidentally killing someone, are you?"

"Uh, that’s part of it!" Li Shiyun nodded slightly.

Ever since her physique changed, she had grown much stronger, but the stronger she became, the more careful and cautious she was about using her strength.

Yang Ling let out a sly smile, "I get it, come with me. Let’s see how that vendor is bullying people!"

With that, he took Li Shiyun by the hand and walked outside.

Her hand was being held by someone else, so she had no choice but to follow him out of the room and walk towards the entrance of the village.

Although he was somewhat reluctant to let go, once they were out the door, Ling Feng released Li Shiyun’s hand and the two walked quickly towards the entrance of the village, where they immediately heard a burst of argumentative voices!

A few women were surrounding a dark and portly man, taking turns speaking, while the man had a cunning smile on his face, looking them up and down with his eyes.

"Is that the guy?" Ling Feng pointed at him and asked Li Shiyun.

"That’s him. This guy says our mushrooms are no good and is deliberately lowering the price," Li Shiyun said indignantly.

Ling Feng nodded and strode over, then lazily asked, "Heizi, here to buy mushrooms again?"

"Ling Feng, what about you? You selling mushrooms too?" Heizi looked up and asked.

"I’m not selling, just having a look," Ling Feng replied indifferently, squeezing into the crowd.

Wang Yan was also there, and upon seeing him arrive, she immediately said, "Ling Feng, give us some justice. Everyone’s been running around in the mountains all morning and finally found some mushrooms. Now we bring them here and he lowers the price!"

"Auntie, don’t worry." Ling Feng squatted down to inspect the mushrooms in everyone’s baskets, then looked up at Heizi, "What’s the deal? You weren’t like this before, were you?"

"What do you mean ’deal’? My business has always been fair. The problem is their mushrooms are bad. Even if I take them at the original price, I can’t sell them. Wouldn’t I then lose money?" Heizi asked with a sidelong glance.

"What’s wrong with them?" Ling Feng frowned and asked.

"They’ve all got curled edges, worms, some are even rotten. How do you expect me to take them?" Heizi flipped out a few mushrooms and held them up to Ling Feng to see.

Ling Feng didn’t look; he knew Heizi was just being picky on purpose. When they used to pick skinny mushrooms, this was common, but it was never a big deal since it didn’t happen often and no one ever made a fuss about it.

After a quick glance, Ling Feng stood up with a smile, "It hasn’t rained much recently, and there aren’t many mushrooms in the mountains. Hardly any buyers are coming anymore. You must think that if they don’t sell to you, they’ve got no one else to sell to, right?"

His words struck at Heizi’s true intentions, and he immediately defended, "Of course not!"

"Enough with the nonsense, either you buy them at the original price today, or you never come to Shiliu Village again!" Ling Feng said loudly.

Heizi paused, then sized up Ling Feng, "Kid, when did you get so tough? Are you forcing a sale? Threatening me?"

"What about it? Shiliu Village isn’t big, but it’s not a place for you to act recklessly, got it?" Ling Feng said coldly.

Everyone present was stunned!

Ling Feng had always been low-key in the village, remembered by others only when they were sick or wanted to buy medicine. They never expected him to be so manly today, standing up and speaking out for the village women!

More so, he was confronting Heizi, a guy who made his living going from village to village buying up rural produce—someone the villagers usually didn’t want to offend.

"Ling Feng, you’ve grown bolder, haven’t you? Daring to speak big words. If I stop coming to Shiliu Village, their goods won’t sell. Can you decide on that?" Heizi asked with a sneer.

He knew it by the looks on the women’s faces—they were arguing with him because they couldn’t swallow their pride, but in the end, they would obediently submit since they didn’t dare truly offend him.

And this Ling Feng, suddenly popping up to speak up for them, was simply a joke!

Just when Heizi thought he was sure to win, Ling Feng suddenly nodded, "Exactly, I am the one in charge of this matter. Everyone, bring your mushrooms to my house. Starting today, I will buy them!"

"What?"

All the women were taken aback, and Wang Yan incredulously asked, "Ling Feng, don’t get into a fight with him. What do you want with these mushrooms?"

"You don’t need to worry about that. The price I’ll offer is definitely not going to be low, it could even be higher. As long as everyone agrees never to sell any mountain goods to Heizi!" Ling Feng said with a smile.

With that, Heizi, instead of getting angry, laughed with his hands on his hips, "Ling Feng, I don’t know where you’re getting your confidence from. Competing with me for business, do you believe I can make it so you can’t sell a single pound of mushrooms in the county town?"

Ling Feng glanced back at him, "If you had that much capability, you wouldn’t need to be running around the countryside, knocking on doors from house to house!"

Having said that, he turned and walked away, taking Wang Yan’s basket with him as well.

The other women looked at one another and saw Heizi’s face, deflated with embarrassment, his dark complexion becoming even darker and more flushed, which made them all snicker secretly.

Since Ling Feng had said so, they didn’t hesitate. They picked up their baskets and followed him towards the clinic.

As they walked, the women chattered, "Ling Feng, you’re really manly today!"

"Exactly, so commanding. That Heizi was almost about to explode!"

"You have to think this through, Ling Feng. From now on, we’ll all be selling our mountain goods to you!"

As he walked, Ling Feng looked back at them, "Don’t worry, I always keep my word. What I promised, I definitely won’t go back on it!" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Li Shiyun walked back with the others but felt a strange sensation in her heart.

Although Ling Feng’s actions were gratifying, they also added a burden on himself, and for some reason, she felt it somewhat unworthy on his behalf.

After everyone had walked away, Heizi stood there, dumbfounded and furious, muttering hatefully, "Kid, you’ve messed up my plans, but don’t be smug, this is not over yet!"

After saying that, he stamped his foot, packed up his things, and rode his motorcycle away from Shiliu Village.

When Ling Feng and the others arrived at his house, they took out a scale, weighed everyone’s mushrooms, and paid them a fair price.

The women were overjoyed to receive the money, and they all said they would bring him more mushrooms the next day if they picked any.

Ling Feng just smiled slightly in response, "Rest assured, I’ll buy whatever amount you have, and I definitely won’t rip anyone off!"

"I knew you were a stand-up guy!" Wang Yan said flirtatiously, giving him a look and even winking.

Since Li Shiyun was right there, even if Ling Feng was secretly thrilled, he dared not make it too obvious, just giving a slight smile.

After the people had dispersed, Li Shiyun finally spoke up, "Is this okay? What will you do with all the mushrooms after buying them?"

"What? Worried about me?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.

Li Shiyun’s face turned red, "What are you talking about? I have nothing to do with you. Why should I worry? You took on the business yourself; don’t you have a plan to solve it?"
