The house was quiet, with only the faint breathing of two people.

It was a while longer before Ling Feng reluctantly withdrew his hand, "How do you feel now?"

"It’s not bloated anymore, and my stomach doesn’t hurt either," Huaihua said, opening her eyes.

Ling Feng smiled, "As long as you’re better, that’s good. My medical skills are decent, aren’t they?"

"Mhm, amazing!" Huaihua nodded, her face flushed with embarrassment.

As she stood up, Ling Feng thought for a moment and said, "Don’t be so childish in the future. You’re a grown-up now, it’s time to learn some knowledge!"

"Mhm."

Huaihua’s face turned even redder, realizing how childish and embarrassing it was to suspect that she might have been pregnant.

But she trusted him deeply, so with a blushing face she nodded, "Then I’ll head home first."

"Go ahead, I’ll walk you out!"

Ling Feng saw that it was getting late and it was pitch black outside. He didn’t feel comfortable with her walking home alone, so he followed her out the door.

They had just reached the entrance when a black shadow dashed by with a whoosh, startling Huaihua into a scream as she turned and buried herself in his embrace!

Ling Feng was taken aback but recognized the shadow as Wang Cai, so he called out to it!

Sure enough, from the shadows by the wall, Wang Cai’s grunting could be heard. The rascal was obviously too hungry to wait and had snuck out to find something to eat!

"You scoundrel. Scaring people out of their wits in the middle of the night, I’ll see to you later!" Ling Feng cursed, holding Huaihua’s shoulder, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here."

Feeling his robust masculine aroma, Huaihua’s heart thudded wildly. It was her first time knowing what it felt like to be held in a man’s arms.

For a brief moment, she spaced out, actually not wanting to leave his embrace.

Ling Feng did not move either, simply holding her, feeling her soft body and the fragrance of the girl, also somewhat reluctant to let go.

Thus, several minutes passed until Huaihua’s phone started ringing urgently, snapping both of them back to reality as they simultaneously let go!

"Brother, it’s my mom checking in on me on the phone. I really have to hurry home," Huaihua said.

"Alright, I’ll walk you to your doorstep."

Ling Feng nodded, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and walking out.

After seeing Huaihua home and returning, he didn’t bother with Wang Cai and went straight to bed.

The next morning, he was woken by the familiar sound of scratching at the door. Opening his eyes, Ling Feng cursed, "You’ve got the nerve to come back!"

He knew it was that shameless Wang Cai, probably feeling hungry and starting to pester him again!

After being cursed at, Wang Cai did not retract but scratched at the door even more vigorously, whining plaintively as if pleading for forgiveness.

Ling Feng could only helplessly get out of bed, wearing only his boxer shorts, he went to the door and opened it.

Wang Cai crouched on the ground, looking pitiful with his red tongue lolling out, drooling.

That appearance would not convince anyone he was a wolf; he resembled a domesticated Earth Dog more than anything.

Ling Feng glared at him reproachfully, "So now you remember me because you’re hungry? Do you want grilled rabbit?"

Wang Cai nodded his head, eyes filled with hope despite the scolding.

Ling Feng didn’t want to argue with it; what would people think if they saw him? So he shook his head helplessly, "There are no more rabbits at home. If you want to eat, go catch one on the mountain, and I’ll grill it for you!"

"Aoow!"

Wang Cai howled at the sky and then dashed towards the village entrance before quickly vanishing into the woods.

Ling Feng chuckled to himself and without another word, turned and headed straight for the breeding farm!

After all, animals will be animals; no match for humans when it comes to scheming. Ling Feng had easily sent Wang Cai away and ran to Wang Cai’s den. Sure enough, there was a dark round object inside which he promptly grabbed and ran back to the house with.

But before he could examine it, he heard Li Shiyun’s voice outside, "Ling Feng, are you up?"

"I’m up. What is it?"

Ling Feng went to the door and saw Li Shiyun had changed her clothes, wearing a knee-length white gauze skirt that made her look like a fairy.

Li Shiyun also paused when she saw Ling Feng. The man was wearing only pair of shorts, his bronze skin exposed, his muscle definition clear, like a fitness instructor!

Her heart skipped a beat right away. A man’s robust physique has always been something women admire. Even if they don’t say it out loud, they do like it internally.

All the more so since it was Ling Feng, to whom she had already taken a liking.

But Ling Feng was unaware. Seeing Li Shiyun staring at him, he asked curiously, "What is it, Village Chief?"

"Oh, nothing, just wondering if you’d like to come with me to see something at the village entrance?" Li Shiyun’s face flushed, realizing she had lost her composure, and quickly asked.

Ling Feng hesitated but eventually nodded, "Sure, let’s go."

After saying that, he noticed he wasn’t wearing a shirt and quickly ran back inside to grab one, then hid away the dark object.

While doing this, he snickered to himself, curious whether Wang Cai would go crazy when it returned and found its treasure gone.

Once outside, Ling Feng and Li Shiyun walked side by side to the village entrance. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Smoke was still rising from the boiler; the steaming work wasn’t done yet.

"Did you calculate how much mushroom can come out of these two thousand bags?" Li Shiyun asked, turning to him.

Ling Feng shook his head, "I haven’t calculated it. I don’t know how much we’ll get, but yesterday, Old Du took eight thousand including the materials, equipment, and rental fee. I think even eighty pounds of mushrooms would be enough to break even!"

"Your expectations aren’t too high," Li Shiyun laughed, giving him a sidelong glance, "If that’s all we get, it wouldn’t be worth the effort. Let’s be conservative and suppose that each bag yields only two ounces; that’s still four hundred pounds from two thousand bags!"

Counting on her fingers, she continued, "Four hundred pounds, at a market price of one hundred and ten per pound, wow, that’s at least forty thousand!"

Ling Feng watched her mimic a landlady and felt amused yet touched. He replied with a smile, "Hopefully."

He said that, but what he really thought was, only two ounces per bag? That wouldn’t do. It should be at least one pound each!
