The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 62 The Embarrassment in the Car
Chen Yuhe had no idea how long it had been as she stared at the rain, lost in thought, but when she turned her head back, she saw Ling Feng looking at her and asked in surprise, "What are you doing?"
"Nothing, just thinking that your profile is so beautiful!" Ling Feng’s face turned red, rarely showing embarrassment as he realized he had been somewhat lost in his own behavior!
Chen Yuhe’s cheeks also turned red, and she gave him a look, "What a thing to say, is my face not pretty from the front?"
"It is pretty, hehe," Ling Feng said with a sheepish laugh.
The downpour lightened for a moment but showed no signs of stopping completely, though the thunder had ceased.
Chen Yuhe took out her phone and glanced at it, "It’s five o’clock now; what if the rain doesn’t stop at all?"
"There’s no other way; we’ll just have to make do in the cave for the night," Ling Feng shrugged his shoulders.
Chen Yuhe was startled and glanced back at the floor of the cave, which was a flat piece of rock. It wasn’t dirty, but for a city-raised child, such accommodation was too crude.
But Ling Feng was right; with the rain this heavy, going out would be dangerous, and the two had no choice.
"I hope the rain stops soon; I don’t want to sleep on top of rocks!" she pouted.
As time ticked by, the rain showed no signs of stopping, incessantly pouring down. Ling Feng and Chen Yuhe, hugging their knees, seemed to be getting cold, so he got up and lit a fire inside the cave.
With the fire rising, feeling the warmth on her back, Chen Yuhe immediately ran to sit next to the fire.
While warming herself by the fire, she asked Ling Feng, "If we can’t leave all night, are we just going to starve?"
"That won’t happen," Ling Feng smiled and turned to Wang Cai, "How about some roast wild rabbit?"
Wang Cai didn’t move, just barked once.
Although he couldn’t speak, the meaning was clear: it’s raining outside, where am I supposed to catch a rabbit?
"Think of something, will you? Give me some face, okay?" Ling Feng, seeing it not moving, negotiated.
Chen Yuhe watched this with a stunned expression. Negotiating, really?
However, to her surprise, after hearing Ling Feng’s words, Wang Cai reluctantly got up and then dashed out of the cave, disappearing into the underbrush in an instant.
"Your wolf is really, really amazing!" Chen Yuhe said, staring in astonishment.
Ling Feng was quite proud, "Piece of cake."
He had forgotten it was he who had just spoken nicely, asking for a favor.
About half an hour later, a dark figure burst into the cave. Wang Cai returned with two plump wild rabbits in its mouth.
Being a hunter of the jungle, Wang Cai knew that rabbits would seek shelter from the rain, and in such a short time, it had caught two.
Ling Feng was delighted and began to clean up the rabbits. After washing them with rainwater outside, he soon brought them back to roast over the fire.
The two of them and the wolf sat around the fire, all eyes on the rabbit meat. When a fragrant scent began to spread, Chen Yuhe couldn’t help but take a deep breath, "It smells so good!"
"Wild game from the mountains; it’s a bit rustic, but I hope you don’t mind!" Ling Feng chuckled.
Chen Yuhe glanced at him, "I’ve already told you I’m not that delicate; you don’t need to keep saying that! When can we eat?"
"We need to wait a bit more; the outside is cooked, but the inside isn’t yet."
Ling Feng turned the rabbit over and remembered he had some porcinis in his basket. He took them out, cleaned them, and then sliced them to place on top of the rabbit meat.
Moments later, the aroma of the mushrooms came through, causing Chen Yuhe to be taken aback before exclaiming in surprise, "The mushrooms you’re planning to grow are these?"
"Yep, they’re delicious and valuable, so why not grow them?" Ling Feng replied with a smile.
After a while, the cave was filled with the savory aroma of meat and mushrooms. He first tossed one rabbit to Wang Cai, then handed the other to Chen Yuhe.
"For me to eat? What about you?" Chen Yuhe asked.
Ling Feng smiled, "I’m not hungry yet; I’ll eat whatever you have left."
Chen Yuhe paused for a moment, feeling a warm sensation in her heart, then said, "Why don’t we split it in half?"
"No need, you eat first," Ling Feng shook his head.
Feeling that it wasn’t appropriate, Chen Yuhe continued, "That won’t do, me eating while you watch—that’s just not right!"
After some back and forth, Ling Feng had no choice but to say, "Well then, how about this: I’ll break off a hind leg to start eating!"
"No problem!" Chen Yuhe nodded immediately.
After they finished eating the roasted rabbit meat and mushrooms, with food in their stomachs, they felt more at ease. Chen Yuhe looked outside at the sky, "It looks like we really have to stay overnight."
"If we can move, we should go. Let’s see how it goes." Ling Feng said, sticking his head out to inspect the sky, noticing that the clouds seemed to be dispersing.
He was worried about the Yuan Ling Grass at home that he hadn’t processed yet, and the vaccinations scheduled for tomorrow. If he got home late, he would miss out on a lot of things.
When it was seven o’clock, the clouds cleared, and the sky soon brightened.
But at this point, there wasn’t much time left until sunset, at most half an hour before it would get dark.
Ling Feng hesitated for a moment but then said to Chen Yuhe, "Let’s go, we should be able to reach the car in about half an hour."
"Alright." Chen Yuhe seemed somewhat reluctant to leave, but she nodded in agreement.
The two walked out of the cave, and because the ground was wet and slippery, Ling Feng once again took hold of her hand.
However, after only a few dozen meters into the woods, they encountered a very awkward situation.
The rain had just stopped, and the droplets in the underbrush hadn’t fallen yet, so their pants and shoes quickly got soaked through!
Although the rain wasn’t cold, the sensation of wet clothing clinging to the body was very uncomfortable.
Especially when walking, their shoes would make squelching sounds, and their toes didn’t feel right.
But since they were already out, they couldn’t go back, so they gritted their teeth and walked on towards the outside of the mountain.
After it got dark, they finally reached the parking spot. Chen Yuhe opened the car door and got in, finally breathing a sigh of relief.
Turning her head and not seeing Ling Feng come in, she asked puzzled, "What are you doing?"
"Just a moment!"
Ling Feng said and took a while before he finally opened the passenger door.
When Chen Yuhe saw him, she stared with wide eyes—this guy had actually taken off his pants!
"You, what are you doing?" she immediately asked.
"It’s uncomfortable sticking to the body, and since Wang Cai is all wet, I used my pants to wipe him down, so I wouldn’t dirty your car," Ling Feng explained.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yuhe finally understood and nodded, "That’s very thoughtful of you."
"Yeah, you should take your pants off too. They’re soaked through, and it’s not only uncomfortable, but you also risk getting sick," Ling Feng said.
"What?"
Chen Yuhe was stunned when she heard his suggestion. She looked down at her own sweatpants, which were indeed sopping wet, but if she took them off, she would be left in just her underwear!
How could she do that?
So she immediately shook her head, her face flushed, "No need, it’s just over half an hour’s drive home, I can bear it."
"Are you sure? I’m thinking of your best interest!" Ling Feng said earnestly.
Chen Yuhe squinted at him, "Are you sure? It isn’t because you want to sneak a peek?"
"How could that be? When you were wearing shorts during the day, I’ve already looked plenty of times, could I possibly not have had enough?" Ling Feng said righteously.
"Hmph! Pervert!"
Chen Yuhe gave him a look and struggled internally.
Not taking them off was truly uncomfortable, but doing so would be too embarrassing—what was she supposed to do?
