Chapter 1019: Chapter 96 All-female Lineup, Version T0

Giant Country, Etheregar City.

"Bang!"

A beast-horned bone goblet was crushed into powder in Lafei’s hand. Crimson wine dripped from his fingers onto the floor, and his somber face lifted from the shadows, casting an eerie glance at the gilded invitation in his other hand that came from the Immortal Palace.

Two pieces of news were inscribed on it:

One, the legendary Fire and Trickery God Loki had returned to Asgard. The other, Divine King Odin and Goddess Freya had conceived a bloodline of their own.

To celebrate these momentous events, the Immortal Palace had extended invitations to all the strong of the Nine Great Kingdoms to a grand banquet, where the future of the Nine Realms would be discussed.

This was both a gesture of goodwill and a show of power.

Lafei casually tossed the invitation onto the table, his voice low and heavy:

"Summon Saki and tell him I have something important to discuss with him."

The two Frost Giant guards nodded in acknowledgment and turned to leave.

However, just as they were about to cross the palace threshold, a deep, commanding voice stopped them abruptly:

"Wait! I’ll go myself."

Rising from his throne, Lafei’s frost-blue skin revealed countless writhing black worms beneath its surface, exuding an ominous aura that made living beings instinctively shrink away in fear.

As he descended the steps and moved towards the doors, the grotesque beast behind him—an abomination with six heads and twelve arms—let out a guttural growl before dissolving into a pool of dark sludge, slipping silently into his shadow.

——

Meanwhile, in Midgard, Heather Island.

Behind her desk, Helo took a bite of an apple and lazily tossed a gilded invitation downwards, saying:

"Take a look at this."

The invitation passed through the hands of everyone present, stirring up no small amount of commotion.

The Asa Divine Race had always been the dominant power among the Nine Great Kingdoms, capable of easily subduing any single kingdom within them.

Achieving balance would require an alliance of multiple kingdoms to even stand a chance.

However, with the return of the Fire and Trickery God Loki to the Immortal Palace—who was supposed to be Midgard’s protector—the pregnancy of Goddess Freya, and the filling of the twelve Chief God positions in Asgard, the power of the Asa Divine Race was set to rise significantly.

Once the dust settled, Midgard and the other races would likely be unable to resist the Immortal Palace’s dominance, doomed to become its vassals, subject to its whims.

What exactly was that figure planning? Could they really be abandoning Midgard?

The room’s occupants exchanged uneasy glimpses at one another, their eyes rife with worry and confusion.

Among them were the fugitive Dark Elf Queen Rose, the newly appointed Light Elf Queen Celebrian, Queen of Sintra Kalanse—the leader of the Northern Countries Alliance and grandmother of the Demon Hunter Xili—and the representative of the Warlock Brotherhood, the former King of Norway, Gray Gandalf...

Though their identities and statuses varied, they shared one undeniable commonality.

They, and those they represented, were all weaker factions that relied on the protection of the Fire God Loki and the Wise Wolf Helo for survival, and were deeply entwined with the pair.

If that figure were to sever ties and destroy this fragile balance of coexistence, their days of security would come to an abrupt end.

As the group heatedly debated how to respond to the banquet invitation, a maid suddenly rushed in, hurrying to Helo’s side and whispering softly.

Initially dismissive, Helo’s expression darkened after hearing the maid’s account. She immediately bade farewell to the others and stepped out into the rear courtyard, making her way to the front hall.

In the empty guest chamber, an elderly man in a gray robe, wearing a black, pointed hat, sat leisurely sipping nectar from his cup. His single eye gleamed with intrigue as he surveyed the room’s furnishings and decorations.

Helo felt a knot tighten in her chest as she walked in, but she forced a practiced smile onto her face:

"Uncle Odin, what brings you to Heather Island instead of enjoying your blessings at the Immortal Palace?"

Odin set his cup down and returned a warm smile to his visage of weathered age:

"My dear Helo, there’s something I’d like to discuss with you."

"For someone with dominion over the Nine Realms and such a demanding schedule, what could possibly be important enough for you to make the trip personally?"

Helo asked curiously, though a guarded wariness stirred beneath her polite demeanor.

If memory served, the last time this old man came to Heather Island to "negotiate," looming disaster had befallen Hela.

Seemingly aware of his niece’s apprehension towards him, Odin wasted no time on pleasantries. With a smile, he retrieved a golden ring from the Magic Circle Diagram.

"How about we discuss this?"

Under the lamp’s glow, the golden ring shone brilliantly, radiating an eerie pattern of mystical runes from its interior side.

Upon seeing the runes—a line imbued with peculiar magic and unyielding laws—Helo’s pupils shrank, and her breath quickened.

——

Immortal Palace, Eternal Garden.

Luo En had just finished a meeting with the Norn Three Goddesses and hadn’t even stepped out of the World Tree’s barrier when a hand abruptly grabbed his arm:

"Gotcha~ Tee-hee! Lord Loki, I reached you first!"

Pink-haired, high-spirited Valkyrie Hild popped her head out of the flower bushes, cheerfully proclaiming her victory.

"Step back! Such insolence!"

Blond-haired Valkyrie Slude hurried over, sparks of lightning flickering in her palms. With practiced precision, she paralyzed the unruly, energetic Hild and dragged her away, paying her respects as she retreated to one side.

"Lord, we—"

Before she could explain her purpose, a "crack" echoed as a branch above snapped. A black-haired, stoic Valkyrie who had been perched reading atop the tree tumbled directly onto Luo En, inadvertently landing astride him.

"Audlinde!"

Slude was simultaneously exasperated and infuriated. She swiftly pulled the other offending Valkyrie back.

Amid a flurry of crackling electric discipline, the two reckless Valkyries bowed deeply, their ridiculous, frizzled hairstyles struggling to suppress laughter from onlookers, as they earnestly apologized to Luo En.
