Chapter 964: Chapter 76: Was the Medicine too Strong?

Mist Country.

Luo En stood before the sealed spatial rift for a long time, eventually letting out a long, deep sigh.

The Nordic World suffered from severe inherent deficiencies, with various crises and problems emerging incessantly, almost destined for destruction from birth. As one of the three catastrophes that would trigger Ragnarök, Hela had long been ensnared in the web of Fate as time passed, unable to free herself.

Although Luo En was willing to help, repeated attempts made him realize that relying solely on his Authority and Deceit from outside the realm could hardly change the intrinsic course of the Nordic World’s Heavenly Destiny.

The best example was Heluo.

All this time, he had not spared any effort in planning an alternative path for his foster daughter.

For instance, shaping her into Midgard’s Wise Wolf using the divinity of Fertility to suppress the Demon Nature of the demon wolf; leveraging the Authority of Commerce to restrain her inner desires for devouring and killing, keeping her mind sharp and cool; teaching her strategy and magic rather than close combat and killing techniques, to prevent her from awakening the brutal instincts of the beast...

The initial plan was good, but as time passed, the final outcome still led to a future he didn’t wish to see.

In the centuries of his slumber, the Asa Divine Race grew in strength, gradually usurping the Authority of Fertility. Following his advice, Heluo didn’t engage in direct conflict with the Asa Divine Race, instead, she downplayed the attributes of Fertility and focused on Commerce as her main divinity.

Commerce, an Authority with a nature of civilization, although appearing mild, couldn’t wash away its inherent bloody scent and aggressiveness.

For example, the classic slogan "Open the door to free trade!" was a perfect testament to this.

Issues that highly developed future civilizations couldn’t solve were naturally difficult to address in the ancient Divine Era.

When weak, the [Wolf] could lower its stance, peacefully engage in commerce, and advance the civilization of Midgard, like an obedient little lamb.

But as commerce in Midgard flourished and Heluo grew stronger, accumulating enough resources, funds, and intelligence capabilities, the [Wolf] would remember her identity, bare her sharp fangs, and defend her territory.

For this reason, Heluo secretly formed an alliance with several trade partners right under the nose of the Immortal Palace, to counterbalance the hegemony of the Asa Divine Domain, causing Odin to react and inadvertently pushing the process of Ragnarök another step forward.

If it weren’t for her foster father returning to clean up the mess, Heluo would probably be busy dealing with Odin and the Asa Divine Race knocking on her door.

With these experiences as a lesson, Luo En naturally couldn’t meddle with Hela’s predicament lightly without finding the right opportunity.

All he could do now was to wait patiently for the right moment, while taking a closer look at his student.

"Rumble!"

Just as Luo En was deep in thought, intense rumbling noises came from the ice plains ahead.

Roiling Lightning and Flames tore through the dense blizzards and clouds, clearing the skies of the Mist Country for the first time in ages; stirring Divine Power rubbed against the air, creating dazzling auroras and causing a series of Aether Storms stronger than the last, making the World Tree at the epicenter of the explosion groan and tremble continuously.

What’s happening?

Luo En’s eyelids twitched as he quickly used the Authority of the Goat, rushing to the scene at lightning-fast speed.

Hovering above the Hvagmir Spring, the Black Dragon King Nidhogg led a dense army of Black Snakes into fierce battle against three figures in the sky.

Those three figures were naturally familiar to Luo En.

They were none other than Thunder God Thor, Yemengarde the World Snake, and Valkyrie Brynhild, whom he had thrown back into the Dwarf Country previously.

How did they come back...

Luo En helplessly rubbed his forehead, his gaze filled with pity towards Nidhogg.

It had to be said, the life of this Black Dragon King was a bit rough; despite being one of the top bosses in the Mist Country, a Divine King Level pinnacle creature, but to fulfill the destiny of Ragnarök, he had to gnaw at several roots day and night and periodically get beaten up by heroes from various forces taking turns.

First, he disturbed the order of the Netherworld and was beaten into submission by Hela;

Then he ambushed Brynhild and was taken down a notch by Luo En;

Immediately after, in defense of the portal to the Netherworld, he was collectively beaten by the group that came for a second run of the Netherworld dungeon—Thunder God Thor, World Snake Yemengarde, and Valkyrie Freya.

Facing one alone, Nidhogg might have been able to suppress the opponent, but two already made it a bit difficult, and against three, even Nidhogg couldn’t withstand it.

Now, as Thor and the others coordinated with tacit understanding, the Black Dragon King was battered to confusion, crying out in pain, and was ultimately hit on the head by Thor’s hammer, falling to the ground with sparks and lightning, creating a hundred-meter deep crater upon impact.

"Oh spear, oh Rune, grant me strength."

Brynhild murmured as she gently kissed the tip of her spear, and the teal-gold flames rapidly ignited the entire shaft and herself, forming a wildfire-like momentum.

This was not merely the externalization of a weapon forged from Divine Power; it was a strike composed of all her will and longing.

The stronger her emotions, the more powerful her spear could become, surpassing her own limits by several times, or even dozens of times.

Although every use would inevitably leave some risks to her body, if it meant defeating the Black Dragon King Nidhogg swiftly and opening the passage from the Mist Country to the Netherworld, saving that great one from dire straits, she was willing to load her life into the chamber of her spear!
