Chapter 38: Chapter 38: Kyle Appears – The Blood Sacrifice Array

"Is that... a real vampire?!"

A collective gasp erupted from the crowd, drowning out the chaos.

On the platform, the man in the black robes froze. He stared blankly at the figure hovering in the air, completely bewildered.

"How is this possible?"

He rubbed his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing.

The one who had transformed into a vampire was not Lilia, but a priest from the Church of Light.

Not just him—everyone stood frozen, refusing to believe what they were seeing, except for Allen and his group, who knew the truth.

The priest looked down at his own transformed body, first with confusion, then with sheer terror.

Suddenly, it clicked. He glared furiously at Lucas."It was you!"

Two days ago, when the Elf Saintess appeared outside the city, that was when Lucas had set the trap, infecting him with the vampiric curse!

"Lucas, you cut off Lilia’s devil wings. You are ruthless!" the black-robed man shouted, finally snapping out of his stupor as he looked down at the pale Lilia on the stage.

But it didn’t matter. He was here to stir up chaos. It didn’t matter who became a vampire—it all served his purpose.

In fact, a priest becoming a vampire would only help his plan.

"I am a victim! The City Lord’s daughter is the true vampire!"

The priest stammered, his face pale with panic, frantically trying to deny the accusation.

The Church of Light and the vampire race were bitter enemies. If anyone found out he had become a vampire, his life would be over.

"Hmph! Even now you dare to slander and frame me," Lucas replied with feigned outrage, his eyes cold as they locked onto the man in black. "Kyle, are you going to keep hiding?"

"Kyle? Didn’t he die?"

"Yeah, I heard Kyle betrayed them, and the entire family’s power was crushed by the City Lord’s Mansion."

The crowd was suspicious, staring curiously at the man in the black robes.

Allen and Lilia looked just as confused. They had heard that Kyle died horribly—his body torn open and left as a shriveled corpse.

Such a gruesome death meant there was no chance he was still alive.

"Hmph, Lucas, you played a clever game. Fine, I am Kyle!" the man in black shouted, then ripped off his robe. Underneath, he revealed a pale, handsome face.

He bears a resemblance to the previous Kyle, but appears younger.

"As I suspected," Lucas said, showing little surprise. His voice turned icy. "Church of Light, listen up! This priest has colluded with vampires and demons. He has betrayed humanity. Kill them both!"

At his command, a large group of City Guards surged forward.

But the Church’s knightly orders and believers exchanged bewildered looks. They still couldn’t believe the priest was a vampire.

"Lies! The priest was framed by you!" William stepped forward, glaring at Lucas. He knew the truth: Lilia was the real vampire.

"Do you intend to disobey orders?" Lucas asked, pulling out a token. A golden Divine Light instantly enveloped his body.

"It’s the Red Bishop’s Seal!" someone in the crowd gasped.

The knights and believers immediately fell to their knees in respect.

Only then did the priest and William realize that Lucas held the Red Bishop’s Seal.

But what was the Divine Light around him?

"Y-you... how can you control Divine Light?" the priest asked, his voice trembling with doubt.

Only clergy from the Church of Light could wield Divine Light. Lucas didn’t look like a Church member, and he had been secretly targeting the Church all along.

"Hmph, I was the former commander of the Church of Light’s Knights!" Lucas stated coldly, issuing his next order immediately. "Kill the vampire now, or you will all be treated as traitors!"

After hesitating for a moment, the Bright Knights and the believers finally chose to attack the priest.

"Idiot! Lucas is the traitor! Attack, and kill him with me!" William roared angrily, charging straight at Lucas first.

"Unbelievable arrogance!" Lucas sneered.

Lucas scoffed. A spear materialized in his hand, glowing with holy light. With a single strike, he forced William back, nearly killing him.

"Strong!" William exclaimed in shock. Lucas had been hiding his power. His cultivation level must have reached Stage 6.

"Attack!" Kyle commanded coldly. Suddenly, people from the crowd moved, brutally slaughtering the adventurers nearby.

They were the remaining loyalists of the Kyle family.

"Ah!"

"You monster! This Kyle is definitely evil!"

Shouts and screams filled the air. Everyone drew their weapons and started attacking without discrimination. Chaos erupted.

The City Lord’s Mansion guards clashed with the Church of Light’s knights and believers.

The adventurers fought against the Kyle family remnants.

Flynn saw the scene and quietly slipped away.

The other Academy heads were surprised that things had turned into this mess.

An old man looked at the chaotic battlefield and frowned. "Which side should we support?"

"This is Blackspire’s dispute, not ours. Let’s just watch," the Astravale Academy head sneered. He focused on protecting his own students, waiting to see who would win.

Down below, many Quinn Academy students were suffering. If they took heavy casualties, the Astravale Academy might win this Academy tournament.

In the crowd, Allen protected Lilia. Watching the fighting around them, he asked in surprise, "Lilia, is your father the leader of The Knights of Light?"

"I don’t know what’s going on either."

Lilia looked confused. She had never felt any light power from Lucas.

"There’s Lilia! Attack her!" Several Kyle family remnants spotted the two and roared as they charged.

"Want to die!" Allen’s face turned cold. He raised his hand, and a huge fireball flew forward.

Boom!

The fireball exploded. Bodies were thrown around, and the area was engulfed in flames. Screams echoed everywhere.

These men were only at Stage 2 or Stage 3. They couldn’t possibly block Allen’s attack.

"Kill him! Attack!" The roar rang out again. These men fought with reckless bravery, charging out of the fire to attack once more.

Allen’s heart beat faster. He pulled out his Saber. Wind blades whistled around him, and fireballs surged. He began a ruthless slaughter.

Lilia was still recovering from her wounds, so she quietly hid behind him.

The massive square echoed with the sounds of fighting and screaming. Many innocent adventurers had lost their minds, attacking everyone indiscriminately. Bodies piled up, and blood formed rivers.

"Allen, something is wrong!"

Lilia sensed an anomaly and warned, "Look at the blood on the ground!"

"What?" Allen swung his Saber, killing two attackers charging at him, then looked in the direction Lilia pointed.

The blood on the ground seemed alive, flowing slowly and gathering together toward a central point.

Allen’s face changed color. A sense of unease washed over him. "Lilia, can you fly?"

"You tell me?" Lilia replied weakly, her face pale.

"Get to the high platform!" Allen hesitated for a moment, then scooped her up onto his back and charged toward the stage.

"Allen, I’m finally riding on your back!" Lilia cheered, wrapping her arms around his neck.

Allen ignored her. Using Wind Blade to clear a path and swinging his Saber, he cut down everyone in his way. Cold flashes lit up the air as he rushed up the high platform.

Enemies continued to pour in from all sides, but he paid them no mind, gazing down at the ground stained red with blood.

Streams of blood converged, flowing slowly to form a strange, eerie pattern.

Allen and Lilia’s faces paled at the same time. "Hell’s Gate!" they shouted in alarm.

The pattern made of blood looked exactly like the one the goblins had set up in the beginner’s secret realm at the Academy.

"Stop!" Allen roared angrily. He flipped his Saber and used the back of the blade to knock two enemies back.

The array was activated by fresh blood, and he dared not cause any more slaughter.

"Allen, Lilia, you are doomed!" The remaining Kyle family loyalists went crazy. Refusing to yield until death, they charged fiercely up the high platform.

"Stupid idiots!" Allen was furious. He wanted to kill them, but he dared not.

"What’s happening?" Just then, Lucas appeared in front of them, covered in blood, looking confused.

"Dad, the array!" Lilia pointed at the pattern formed by the blood below and shouted urgently, "This is the array to open Hell’s Gate!"

"What?" Lucas gasped, his face turning grim. This was Blackspire Square. If Hell’s Gate opened here, the consequences would be unthinkable.

"Everyone, stop right now!"

Lucas roared, his voice booming across the square. The fighting crowd paused, startled by his command.

"Haha, Lucas! You finally realized it? Too bad, it’s too late!" Kyle sneered from the crowd, his face twisted in mockery. "This competition is finally mine. Blood Sacrifice Array!"

Hummm...

Several beams of bloody light shot straight up into the sky, terrifyingly bright and eerie.

Everyone finally realized something was wrong and grew fearful.

"You want to die!" Lucas shouted. He leaped into the air, charging straight at Kyle.

"Stop him!"

Kyle ordered coldly.

The Kyle family loyalists in the crowd didn’t hesitate. They threw their lives away just to block Lucas.

"Quick! Kill Kyle!" Others finally snapped out of it, roaring as they charged at Kyle.

Chaos erupted again. People kept dying, and the red blood on the square looked even more bloody and sinister.

"Idiots!" Allen growled in anger. "Doesn’t that just speed up the array’s formation?"

His eyes scanned the area and locked onto the priest floating in the air, who was completely defenseless.

"Raven, protect the young lady," Allen warned. He knew the shadow guards were already hiding nearby to keep Lilia safe.

Then, Allen leaped up. He grabbed the bare feet of the priest floating in mid-air, flipped, and landed on his back.

"Kid, get off me!" the priest roared, struggling wildly.

Bang!

Allen didn’t waste words. He punched the priest right in the forehead and said coldly, "Behave. If you want to live, fly me over there so I can kill Kyle."

"Hmph, do you think I’ll listen to you?" the priest scoffed, stubborn to the point of death.

"Think carefully. If Hell’s Gate opens, Blackspire will be devastated. Right now, everyone thinks you’re Kyle’s partner. Once this is done, you’ll be remembered as a traitor for eternity." Allen threatened, drawing his Saber and pressing it against the priest’s neck.

The priest’s face paled. He cared deeply about his reputation. Gritting his teeth, he snarled, "Kid, don’t think I don’t know your secrets. After this, I will kill you."

Unwillingly, the priest took off, flying Allen toward Kyle.
