The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 209 A Night of Secrets
Oliver placed both hands gently on her shoulders, nodding at her words. "Megan, you and Tristan will be fine. We’re already on this—Brandon’s digging into that weird parasite thing, trying to see if there’s another way around it."
"Don’t worry, Ollie. Between me and Tristan, we’re stuck with each other anyway."
He smirked and tapped her nose. "You dummy. You’re about to be a mom now. Gotta start acting responsible for that little one."
Not ready to drop it, Megan grinned slyly and changed the subject. "So... you guys got something going on tonight?"
Oliver cleared his throat and avoided her eyes. "Nope. Nothing."
Megan pouted. Fine. Even if he didn’t say, she could figure it out.
After checking in on Emily, they all left together.
Oliver and the others dropped Megan and Stella off at Dreamscape Manor before heading off.
Worried that Megan might get bored, Samuel thoughtfully brought the parrot over too.
That night, Megan gave the parrot a rather unexpected gift—baby diapers.
Stella stared at the ridiculous little outfit for a while before bursting out laughing. "You’ve got to be kidding me. That’s... adorable."
Megan poured bird food into a tray and shrugged. "Just in case the bird freaks out in the new place and poops everywhere. Better to be safe."
After feeding the parrot, Megan grabbed Stella’s arm. "Last time you came we were in such a rush. Come on, I’ll show you something cool."
Bundled up like two walking blankets, they stepped out of the villa and headed toward the sunken garden.
Since it was winter, a glass dome covered the top to keep the temperature cozy inside.
Megan pressed a red button on the side—the dome retracted and soft lights lit up the space.
Stella held Megan’s arm as they stepped down the stairs. What greeted them was a sea of vibrant roses.
Stella gasped, a smile lighting up her face. "Oh wow... this is gorgeous. Megan, this was Tristan’s idea, wasn’t it? I had no idea he could be this romantic."
"Right? I totally didn’t think he had it in him either. It was my birthday present."
Stella playfully pouted. "And here I thought your dad was the king of romance. Looks like Tristan just snatched the crown. Your brothers? Ugh, total duds in that department."
Laughing, Megan held Stella’s hand as she snipped roses from different colors with garden shears.
She carefully trimmed the thorns off and handed the bouquet to Stella. "I’ve missed so many Mother’s Days with you... Think of this as making up for it."
Stella looked at the bunch in her hands, grinning so wide her eyes almost disappeared. "It’s okay. From now on, you’ll celebrate Mother’s Day for me. And one day, your baby will do the same for you."
Megan gently touched her belly. "Yeah... It’s been almost three months already."
This was something she never got to live in her past life. Sometimes, the thought made her incredibly grateful to Karl. Without him, she wouldn’t be here now.
Thinking of Karl made something click in her mind—tonight had felt off.
"Mom, why don’t you head up to bed first? I’m going to see Tristan at Reid Corp."
Stella was still lost in the scent of flowers and perked up. "It’s late. Isn’t it dangerous to be out now?"
"I’ll be fine. Mr. Ford’s taking me."
Stella gently helped her back up the steps and closed the dome, then walked her toward the villa.
When Mr. Ford heard they were going to Reid Corp, he asked, "Should I let the young master know you’re coming?"
"No need. He’ll know."
Mr. Ford simply nodded and drove off from Dreamscape Manor.
Half an hour later, the car pulled up in front of Reid Corp HQ.
Just before getting out, Megan smiled and said, "Thanks, Mr. Ford. You don’t need to wait. You can head back."Watching Megan walk away, Mr. Ford couldn’t help noticing—this little drama queen really wasn’t the same person she used to be.
There were night guards on duty at Reid Group. The moment they saw it was the president’s wife, they scrambled to unlock the executive elevator.
"Ma’am, this way please."
Megan gave a slight nod and stepped inside, pressing the button for the 88th floor.
Soon, the elevator stopped. The doors opened to a dimly lit lobby, with only a few lights left on.
She headed straight for the CEO’s office and knocked a few times.
"Come in."
The moment she entered, she saw Tristan seated at his desk, eyes on the laptop. Cameron was standing beside him.
Tristan was visibly surprised. "Megan? What are you doing here?"
"I’m here to inspect the post! Checking if you’re working late or being lured away by some little vixen." Circling around the desk, she settled onto his lap.
Tristan reflexively shut the laptop, wrapping an arm around her waist. "So... was there a vixen?"
Megan turned to glance at Cameron. "No vixen. Just someone who’s hogging the spotlight like a pig."
Cameron, aka said pig, silently left the office—no way was he staying to watch this couple’s lovey-dovey routine.
Tristan chuckled. "Did Mr. Ford bring you here?"
"You guessed it! So boring. I just wanted to see you."
He looked at her mischievous grin. "You mean you came to spy on me, not because you missed me."
"Fine, then what are you up to?" she asked, reaching for the laptop. "Hiding something? Are you in some freaky online chat?"
Tristan let out a long breath. "Knew I couldn’t keep it from you."
Megan’s heart skipped a beat. "Wait, are you serious?"
Tristan rubbed his temples, then flipped the laptop open. "See for yourself."
"Drone footage?" Megan leaned in. "Where is this?"
"Lorchester," Tristan said, giving up on hiding. "Karl’s there. That place has one of the parasite bases. It’s run by our enemies. If an outbreak hits, the whole country could fall into chaos. With the election coming, we can’t risk lives like that."
"So he went there alone to deal with it? That’s crazy! He’s diving into the ocean hoping to fill it with his own body or what?"
Tristan gently patted her back. "I’ve arranged with Charles. The base will be blown up tonight. Karl will take care of the escaping parasites. Remember I told you about that birthmark on his wrist?"
"The red one, yeah."
"There’s a parasite king inside. He can use it to attract them all before destroying them."
Megan frowned. "Isn’t that super dangerous?"
Tristan reached out to smooth her furrowed brows. "I’ve sent people to watch over him. Don’t worry. But Megan, I gotta say... watching you worry about him kinda makes me jealous." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Jealous? Of what? I’m grateful, not in love."
"Even gratitude’s pushing it." He kissed her lips gently, biting them lightly. "Before he left, Karl asked me to promise him one thing."
"What was it?" Megan blinked, full of curiosity.
Tristan smirked. "He wants to be our baby’s godmother."
Megan burst out laughing. "Godmother? You serious?"
Tristan nodded. "Dead serious."
Somewhere in Lorchester, that future "godmother" sneezed hard.
Keith glanced at him. "Boss, you okay?"
Karl rubbed his nose. "Someone out there’s clearly roasting me behind my back!"
