The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 243 The Kitchen Incident
In the kitchen, Mrs. Hall was sorting, washing, and chopping vegetables while Michelle focused on stir-frying.
Zeta Prime let out a weird little snicker. "Miss Michelle, your skills in the kitchen are right up there with our fairy girl. But really, you should let Zeta Prime take over this tough job."
Michelle smiled softly, "Thanks, Zeta Prime, but I’ve got it."
Zeta Prime ignored her and snatched the spatula from her hand. "Let me do it."
The two started tugging at the spatula. Then came a sudden yelp.
Zeta Prime froze. A ladle of hot shredded pork in garlic sauce had splashed right onto Michelle’s chest.
Tears welled up in Michelle’s eyes instantly. Zeta lifted his mechanical hand, trying to flick off the food, but Michelle shrieked, "What are you doing?!"
Right then, Jason rushed in. "What happened?"
Michelle clutched her stained shirt, nose a little red. "It wasn’t Zeta Prime’s fault."
Seeing her trying to hold in the pain made Jason’s chest tighten. He turned to Zeta with a frown. "What exactly did you do?"
Zeta scratched his metallic head. "Zeta Prime did nothing wrong! Just wanted to help Miss Michelle cook, but she didn’t agree. We struggled a bit, then the food splashed onto her. I was just about to help clean it up."
Stella walked in and saw the tears sliding down Michelle’s pale cheeks. "Whoa, what happened? Why’s there crying going on?"
Jason explained what had happened. Stella shot Zeta Prime a sharp look. "Zeta, don’t come into the kitchen again. You burned Michelle."
Jason gently held Michelle close. "Let’s go. I’ll put some ointment on that burn."
He got some burn cream from Brandon Lewis and took Michelle back to her room on the third floor.
Jason sat her down on the bed. "Take off your shirt."
Michelle shook her head. "I can do it myself."
"You can, but I need to see how bad it is." Jason’s tone left no room to argue.
Blushing, Michelle glanced at him, hesitated, then slowly unbuttoned her shirt.
A red burn mark the size of an egg showed starkly against her fair skin.
Jason’s brows drew together. "That bad?" He squeezed out some ointment onto his fingertip and gently dabbed it on her skin.
It stung at first, but the cream brought a hint of relief.
Michelle let out a soft whimper, and Jason’s hand paused.
His Adam’s apple bobbed. Looking at her delicate expression, his heart skipped. He leaned in and kissed her.
Michelle wrapped her arms around his waist, slipping her hands under his pajama shirt.
Jason had never felt this way about any girl before. He adored her—her laugh, her bare face, her whole being. Seeing her hurt made his heart ache.
The moment drew out between them, and then Jason whispered by her ear, his voice low and husky, "Move in with me. Let’s go back to the apartment."
Michelle’s cheeks flushed even deeper. She knew what he meant.
She nodded. "Okay."
At lunch, Jason told the family he’d take Michelle home that evening.
Megan immediately perked up. A single guy and girl alone all night? That couldn’t end well.
Jason had been living clean for thirty—no, thirty-one—years. If Michelle wasn’t who she seemed to be, and something happened... he’d seriously regret it.It’s not that bad people don’t deserve love. It’s just... someone who deliberately gets close to others with bad intentions doesn’t deserve the good and pure feelings this world has to offer. That kind of love would just be tainted.
Megan blinked and smiled, "Jason, you’re already sending Michelle back? We barely spent any time with her. She promised to teach me prenatal yoga yesterday—can’t she stay a little longer? Both Stella and I really enjoy having her around."
Stella chimed in, nodding, "Yeah, I totally feel a connection with Michelle. She’s so easy to get along with. Let her stay a while. Your mom’s gone back to her hometown, it must be lonely living by yourself."
Emily joined in too, "Seriously, both Megan and I love having you around. Don’t go. Jason, don’t send her away just yet."
With everyone trying to convince him, Jason had no choice. He exhaled softly and gave in. "Alright, guess you’ll stay a bit longer then."
Michelle smiled faintly, watching Jason, but her expression wasn’t easy to read.
Over the next three days, Michelle stayed completely away from the kitchen, and she didn’t make any noise at night either.
Staring at the laptop on her lap, Megan looked a little uneasy. "You think she’s starting to get suspicious?"
Tristan rubbed his chin, "Doubt it. No matter how slick someone is, they always slip up sooner or later."
Megan thought for a moment, glancing sideways at Tristan. "Do you think... maybe she’s planning to make her move after marrying Jason?"
"Hard to say." Tristan gently stroked Megan’s slender hand. "Either way, we should probably have a chat with him."
"Men in love always seem to lose their minds, you noticed that?"
"Is that so?" Tristan raised an eyebrow. "I’m pretty sure I’ve been thinking clearly this whole time."
Megan let out a small laugh. "Did we ever date? Seems like you just tricked me into marrying you."
"Well... now that you bring it up, yeah, sounds about right. Regretting it?"
Megan sighed dramatically, "Too late now, I’ve already got your kid on the way."
He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pinched her cheek, and pecked her on the lips. "No refunds!"
Then he went in for a deeper kiss.
Just then, Megan’s eyes flicked to the laptop screen. She instantly shoved Tristan’s head aside. "Look!"
On the screen was a slender figure, sneaking along the wall. She glanced around before quietly heading downstairs.
She knocked softly on the door to the prayer room. Not long after, Mrs. Lewis opened the door. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
The next moment, Michelle pushed her inside the room.
"Pull up the prayer room feed," Megan said, already bringing it up. The screen showed Michelle sitting smugly on a chair, legs crossed, oozing confidence. She looked nothing like the shy, sweet girl from earlier that day.
Megan’s eyes widened. She turned up the volume.
Mrs. Lewis stood there in her pajamas, clearly annoyed, "What are you doing? Why aren’t you asleep?"
Michelle let out a cold little laugh, seductive and sharp. "Oh, what could I possibly be doing? Just... checking in on you. For someone else."
Mrs. Lewis frowned, "For who?"
Michelle chuckled, even more pleased with herself. "Take a wild guess."
"Amelia? Is it Amelia?"
Michelle raised a finger to her lips and shushed her. "Keep your voice down, will you? You want to blow my cover? Do you have any idea how hard it was to get into this house?"
Mrs. Lewis stepped forward, grabbing Michelle’s hand, her voice trembling, "Tell me, where is Amelia? Is she okay?"
