Chapter 284: Chapter 284 Your Majesty—whatever you say.

Megan shook her head as she stood up with Tristan’s help. "He’s adorable, not bothering us at all."

The elderly woman set Liam down. "Go build your sandcastle."

As Liam played nearby, the old lady spoke, eyes clouded with memories. Her daughter and son-in-law had died in a sea rescue mission. Some folks blamed Liam’s birth date for bringing misfortune, and that thought had weighed heavily on him.

She then glanced at Megan’s belly and said, "Looks like a little rascal in there, probably a boy—naughty enough to drive you crazy, but when he grows up, he’ll look out for you."

The woman tugged gently on Liam’s hair. "Liam, the sun’s going down. Time to head back."

Liam stood up, waving his tiny shovel. "Bye, Auntie Megan! Your wish will totally come true!"

Megan instinctively looked at her stomach. Tristan clasped her hand tightly. "Don’t overthink it. We’re gonna be fine. We won’t ever leave our kid alone in this world."

The two leaned into each other, watching the sun sink below the ocean, its golden light painting their faces.

As night fell, stars lit up the sky like scattered diamonds.

Tristan held Megan’s hand as they returned to their private villa. A seafood feast was already laid out on the table.

Taking a seat next to her, he picked up a piece of lobster and held it to her lips. "Try this. Can’t have crab, but you can load up on this one."

She took a bite—sweet and fresh, just right.

She offered him a piece in return. Tristan nodded. "Delicious, but still no match for that plain noodle soup you made me once."

"Flatterer," Megan chuckled. "You’ve got honey on your tongue or what?"

"Dead serious. I’d take your noodles over any fancy dishes out there."

Megan leaned her head on his arm. "What if I make noodles for you every day? Wouldn’t you get bored?"

"Not a chance. Could eat them forever."

That night, with the sound of waves outside their window, they drifted off together on the big cozy bed.

The rest of the week, they spent with Liam.

Even though the kid talked a lot, he didn’t get on anyone’s nerves. His quirky little ideas always got people laughing.

Megan grew really fond of him. When it was time for him and his grandma to go, she gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

In return, he gave her a shell necklace. He’d picked each one himself and had it made by the local craft shop owner.

He leaned in close and whispered to Megan, "I hope it’s a baby sister in there. Bet she’ll be cute and someday... maybe she can marry me!"

Megan burst out laughing, while Tristan wasn’t nearly as amused.

He told Liam that becoming his daughter’s future husband wouldn’t be easy—he’d have to be top-notch.

Liam puffed up his chest. "Then I’ll grow up to be amazing! You two just get that daughter ready!"

Kids say the wildest stuff, but it still got to Tristan.

Just imagining a sweet, fragile daughter of his being taken away someday—it already made his heart ache.

Megan teased him, said he was way too into this whole scenario. "What if it’s a boy? Then you don’t have to worry about all that."

After a week, their trip wrapped up and they caught a flight back to Verduria.Standing in front of a black Maybach with a beige trench coat on, Samuel stepped up as soon as he saw them, grabbing their luggage. "Had fun?"

"It was great. I was gonna bring you back a mermaid, but she heard about your so-called heroics and chose to end it herself," Megan said seriously.

Samuel scoffed, "C’mon, if a mermaid knew it was me, she’d crawl onto land barefoot even if her feet got shredded, just to meet me. Can’t help it—I’m that irresistible."

"You’re full of it," Tristan snorted.

Unbothered, Samuel tossed the luggage in the trunk and got in the driver’s seat once the two were settled in the back.

"Any plans for tomorrow?" he asked.

Both Tristan and Megan shook their heads, saying they were just gonna chill at home.

Samuel nodded, grinning. "Cool. It’s my birthday tomorrow—I’m throwing a party at home."

Megan blinked. "Wait, isn’t your birthday next month?"

Samuel chuckled. "Moved it up. My mom’s lined up some socialites for me to meet. Tomorrow’s the big ’pick a bride’ day."

Tristan rolled his eyes. "You’d almost be believable if you kept your mouth shut. But once you start talking, the illusion’s over."

Samuel kept laughing the whole ride back.

When they got to the Lewis family estate, Stella and Zachary were already waiting at the door. Stella raced over, opened the door, and ushered Megan out of the car.

"You got tanned! Didn’t you use the sunscreen and masks I packed?"

Megan nodded. "I did, but the scenery was too good to stay inside. We were out and about the whole time. Oh, and we met this really sweet little boy..."

"Really? You’ll have to tell me all about him..."

As they walked in, Emily came down the stairs. "Megan, you’re back! I was just upstairs blowing up balloons."

"For the big birthday bash?" Megan asked, flopping down on the couch.

Emily glanced over at Samuel’s exaggerated wink and gave a stiff nod. "Yeah, for the party."

"After dinner I’ll help blow up balloons. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up with a new sister-in-law," Megan said, spreading her arms. "Though I admit that’s a bit of a long shot."

At dinner, the Lewis family sat around the table chatting.

"I’ve invited a few top folks from the business world," said Oliver. "Not a lot, but they’re all close contacts."

Jason gave a slight nod. "Same here. Just some trusted directors and colleagues."

Megan looked up. "Did anyone invite that mega-popular actor James Lee?"

Tristan’s face turned grim.

Megan rolled her eyes. "I’m serious. His sci-fi movie was really good."

Tristan leaned in, voice low. "Please, our real-life version of AI vs. bio-enhanced humans was way cooler."

"Heh, true. It did feel like he was channeling you in that role, though. He nailed it."

"Is he better looking than me?"

Megan grabbed his arm. "Nope, no way. Not even close."

"Then he’s off the guest list."

Megan muttered under her breath, "Alright, Your Majesty—whatever you say."

Brandon adjusted his glasses. "I just invited the lead vaccine researcher. No other big names."

Samuel cleared his throat. "Thanks, everyone. I have a feeling tomorrow’s gonna be pretty epic."

Emily nodded. "I think it’ll be touching, too."
