The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 299 She’ll be back
Megan heard Samantha’s words, but there was no way she could feel at ease.
Yeah, she had given birth before, but that didn’t mean much—the delivery wasn’t even complete. And Samantha’s so-called delivery experience? Only animals. How was that supposed to be reassuring?
Her stomach kept tightening and hurting in waves, the contractions now coming in a solid rhythm. She remembered reading somewhere that when they became this regular, it meant the baby was close.
She had a bad feeling—it was almost time.
Lily and Ivy looked worried sick.
"What do we do now? Should we just carry her down the mountain to a hospital?" Lily panicked.
"Literally! Samantha, you’ve got zero hands-on baby delivery experience—what if something goes wrong? No one would want to come light incense here ever again!"
Samantha stayed calm, her tone confident. "Relax, I got this. Just trust me."
She gave Megan a reassuring look. "Don’t worry, I’m not gonna pull the baby’s head off like my mom did."
Lily’s face twitched. "Okay, that’s... not helping!"
"Once you’re fully dilated, I’ll reach in and turn the baby. Just a push from you and it’ll be out," Samantha explained casually, like it was no big deal. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Megan felt like giving up right then and there.
A jolt of pain hit hard, sending shockwaves through her body. Every inch ached. It felt like every single rib was snapping at once.
Lily checked her watch. "It’s been an hour already. How’s she doing?"
Samantha did a quick check. "Four centimeters. Once you get past three, dilation starts speeding up."
Ivy stood off to the side, staring at Megan’s belly with wide eyes at each wave of contraction. Her scalp tingled in horror. "Oh my god... childbirth is brutal. Thank God I’m a nun, I don’t have to go through this hell!"
Lily nodded in agreement. "I swear, I’m never returning to secular life. What if I fall for some guy and actually wanna have a baby? Nightmare fuel."
Samantha watched Megan’s pained face and sighed. "Poor Megan. Her husband just up and ditched her..."
Lily and Ivy were instantly cursing the heartless guy who abandoned her.
Megan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She wondered what Tristan would think if he heard them say that.
Tears slid down silently from her eyes. She couldn’t stop thinking about him. Was he okay?
Meanwhile, Tristan stood by the window, staring out at a lightning-split tree. Where was Megan? Was she safe?
He felt off. Restless. Like something bad was coming.
A knock interrupted his train of thought. He turned and opened the door.
Karl stood there with a pack of beer. "Fancy a drink?"
Tristan gave a quiet nod and stepped aside to let him in.
Just as he was about to close the door, a foot wedged in.
Luna poked her head in with a goofy smile. "Hey! Your lifesaver wants in on the fun. Is that cool?"
Tristan gave a small hum of acknowledgment and stepped back.
Karl threw Luna a glare as she came in. "You seriously follow us everywhere like some lost puppy."
Luna pouted. "Didn’t you say you’d take me to see every corner of the world?"
She grabbed a can of beer and popped the tab.White foam bubbled up as she eagerly sipped from the bottle. "Whoa, this is amazing! What is it?"
"Beer," Tristan replied, glancing at her. "Why are you dressed like it’s winter? You’ve got a whole cashmere coat on—in the middle of summer?"
"I’ve always been like this, can’t take it off. I get cold super easily, ever since I was little," Luna said while chugging some more.
Tristan cracked open a bottle for himself and sat down. "My heart’s pounding like crazy... Do you think it’s some kind of side effect?"
Luna gently pressed her fingertips to his wrist. "You’re fine. Probably just way too stressed. You really need to rest more—your body’s just barely recovered."
Karl nodded in agreement, "Tristan, since Megan promised to return in five years, she’ll keep that promise. She’ll be back."
Tristan exhaled slowly. He really had no other choice right now but to wait. Knowing Megan, if she wanted to lay low, there’d be no finding her.
Luna gulped down the rest of her drink in one go and reached for another, but a large hand stopped her.
Karl said, "Easy there, too much of this stuff and you’ll be drunk. Who knows how you’ll act if that kicks in?"
"Drunk? I’m not crazy, come on," Luna pouted. "I’ve never tried it before, I just wanna have a little fun! Please, Karl?"
Seeing how sweet she looked, Karl gave in with a sigh. "Alright, one last one. And I mean it—last."
Luna held the bottle like a bunny munching on a carrot, totally enjoying herself.
She finished that one faster than the first. Her cheeks were flushed bright red, and she let out a hiccup. "O-one more! This water’s the best thing I’ve ever had!"
Karl sighed again, bent down, and scooped her up in his arms. "I’m taking her back to her room. Don’t overthink, Megan’s gonna be alright."
Tristan nodded, got up, and opened the door. Watching Karl carry Luna up to the third floor, he finally shut the door.
He walked over to the tall window and stared at the glowing moon, murmuring, "Megan, where are you now?"
Somewhere far away, the woman he loved was enduring intense contractions.
Three hours had passed. After countless checks, she was finally fully dilated.
Samantha stood over Megan. "Hang in there, Megan. I’m going to reach in and rotate the baby manually, okay?"
Megan’s face was ghost white, lips pale as snow.
She gave a soft nod. "If anything happens to me... Just save the baby. Don’t force it—just do a C-section."
Lily and Ivy huddled in the corner, quietly crying. They were barely in their twenties and had never witnessed anything this intense.
Samantha gave a calm, warm smile. "You’re someone who’s meant to be blessed. Both you and the baby will be fine."
Megan forced a weak smile. "Battle-axe, you... should smile more. Otherwise... I might think a guy’s delivering my baby."
Samantha laughed out loud. "When your husband comes hunting you down, I’m totally telling him a dude took over. Let’s freak him out a little!"
As she joked, Samantha slid her hand into the womb.
Megan gasped sharply. Her whole body felt like it had disconnected from her.
