Chapter 82: The Bandit Raid Part 5

After a long, grueling march through a dense forest, the Adventurers finally saw the Bandit stronghold in the distance. It was a highly fortified base with almost no blind spots.

Archers walked alongside the walls at the top with mages who would support them from behind. Guards covered all entry and exit points, as well as scouts who would go deeper into the forest to see if there was any suspicious activity.

This didn’t even include the many more people who were armed and ready on the inside.

Rick held up his arm and closed his fist, signaling for everyone to stop moving.

"Stacey." He said quietly.

Stacey, the mage S-Rank, nodded and tapped her staff on the ground. A large, invisible barrier surrounded the entire group that prevented noise from leaving the area.

"Listen up, everyone! Right beyond that gate is the bastard we’re looking for. We may have lost some allies along the way, but we are still stronger together! We will take down this stronghold and deliver Carlos’s head to the authorities! Who’s with me!"

"YEAHHHHHH!!!!"

Rick drew his sword and pointed it forward. "To victory!"

"TO VICTORY!"

’Fucking dumbasses. The demon king will repay me with kindness after delivering him so many offerings. The surviving assassins should have already gotten the dead bodies by now as well. While things arent going as planned, it’s still going relatively well.’ Rick smirked, then blew down the wall with a slash from his sword.

"We’re under attack!"

"Fire the arrows!"

"Ready your spells!"

The bandits launched a counterattack as if they were ready for this assault, which they were, of course.

They easily pushed back the adventurers with their overwhelming amount of arrows and spells that were launched at them, but the S-Ranks made things difficult for the bandits since the power gap was massive.

"Sasha, cover me!" Stacey yelled.

"You got it." Sasah ran in front of Stacey and planted her large shield into the ground. At that same moment, a massive yellow projection that looked identical to Sasha’s shield blocked all of the oncoming arrows, spears, and spells.

"Victor! Cover fire!" Rick ordered.

Victor, the elf archer S-Rank, pulled back his bowstring, and a green arrow made out of wind was created. On his shoulder, a small figure that looked as if it was made out of wind itself amplified Victor’s attack, and hundreds of arrows were fired in one go. They even followed the people who managed to dodge the arrow, swinging back around to hit them in the back.

Rick turned to his beastman companion. "Charles. You’re up!"

Unexpectedly, Charles wasn’t a warrior, but a Cleric, or in his tribe, a shaman. He specialized in healing, buffing and debuffing, enchanting, potion making, and finally, defensive spells.

He buffed Sasha’s defense while buffing Stacey’s offense. He then enchanted Victor’s arrows to have them explode upon contact with an enemy.

"I’m ready!" Stacey shouted. A massive blue and yellow magic circle appeared under her feet, and the sky crackled. Then, just as a flash of light sparked the sky, multiple massive bolts of lightning rained down on the wall, destroying not only it, but killing all the bandits in the vicinity.

"EVERYONE! NOW’S OUR CHANCE! ATTACK!" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Everyone rushed in with no interference this time.

"Holy shit! Gwen, Amaya! Did you see that?! Did you see how coordinated they were? That’s so fucking cool! They’re a true party right there! Just seeing them in action is getting my blood pumping! I can’t wait to have a party like that!"

"Really, Kai? Isn’t that guy bad?" Amaya asked, chuckling at Kai geeking out.

"Yeah, sure, but you can’t deny their coordination. It’s amazing!"

Gwen, as well, couldn’t deny it, and it also made her blood start pumping. She now wanted to find party members fast so they could do cool shit like that as well.

"Just imagine how badass we’ll look as the hero’s party!" She said in excitement

"I know, right? I was thinking the same thing!" Kai and Gwen high-fived.

Amaya rolled her eyes. "Can we go fight now?"

"Oh shit, yeah, let’s go."

---

The stronghold turned into a brutal and bloody battlefield. Adventurers and bandits died left and right, many more were injured, and some on both sides even fled out of fear. It was a bloodbath.

Kai, Amaya, and Gwen fought together, killing their enemies and having each other’s backs. Sure, Kai didn’t need their help, but they were a team, and he didn’t discredit them simply because they were weaker.

Amaya blitzed through the chaos, wind magic making her strides longer and faster as she zipped around and sliced at people’s backs and chests.

She was a problem for the bandits until one mage managed to stop her. The bandit made use of telekinesis, but his hands were cut cleanly off by Gwen’s claws, and she burned his face to a crisp.

The two of them then abandoned Kai and slaughtered every mage in their area since they were a nuisance to them.

This didn’t bother Kai as he enjoyed taking on opponents alone. One thing he learned early on was that he needed to train. Even though he was powerful and had knowledge of different types of skills, he still needed to train them and gain experience.

This place was perfect for that.

Taking out his weapons, he wreaked the most chaos on everyone there.

"I’m a fucking god of war!" Kai yelled as he cut down bandits left and right with his chained blades.

Eventually, things got a bit too boring for him since he was only fighting people no stronger than B-rank. So, after Gwen and Amaya that he was going to find stronger people, he took off.

"Jeez. Do you see the mess he made down there?" Amaya asked as she spat out an arm she had bitten off.

"Meh, I’ve seen messier messes."

Behind both girls was a pile of bodies that was racked up from their slaughtering of the mage and archer bandits.
