The hivemind is conquering for me?-Chapter 666: Hunters Vs Prey III
Chapter 666: Hunters Vs Prey III
“What the shit Sapphire? What did you fight here? A meteor?” I asked rhetorically looking at the giant craters in what was once a nice clearing. Sapphire then sat behind me as I began to feel a smugness radiate off her. A smugness well deserved considering she took out an opponent clearly much stronger than herself.
“Remind me not to get into a fight with your current iteration sweetie, I don’t think a proper fight between the two of us would be even right now.” I admitted. Wrestling was one thing, I had the strength to deal with all that chonk, but in her element of ambushing and pure speed, I didn’t stand a chance. “Though that would never happen so- Ah you bitch!”
I declared my disapproval as Sapphire just pulled the spear out of my back with her maw. “I told you it was serrated at the tip, that’s not going to heal as fast as a cut.” I then began to roll my shoulder though. I was able to live with pain trivially now after my decay. This wound wouldn’t hinder my combat prowess for the most part.
“Moo.” Sapphire made a good point as I performed a light stretch.
“The plan? Ok, huddle up team!” I said to everyone present. “The initial ambush was a wild success. They clearly underestimated me, but they will not do so again. Whoever that woman is, her spear is powerful enough to break through my armour, so an open engagement is ill advised. Sapphire, we should split up for a while. Make your tracks obvious, let them chase you for a while. They have more than one tracker that is for certain, but the one that has the ability to perfectly locate me is gone.”
“Moo?” She suggested, tilting her head to the side.
I hesitated to answer for a moment before ultimately agreeing. “Fine, you can sacrifice yourself if you want, but do not do it anywhere near me or I will lose it. Better yet, don’t, but it’s ultimately your call. That being said, if you choose to do so, If you can, try and sacrifice yourself and take out another scout or tracker, the longer I can keep myself hidden, the longer I can avoid an ass whoopin’.”
After I said that, Sapphire then shared some information with me that I found difficult to decipher through our bond, thankfully I had a bio form covering my body that could. “Woah Sapphire… You went through this last night? This is amazing. Can you update it for me one last time before…”
“!!!”
My attention suddenly turned to the sky in the distance, a golden figure was approaching. “What the? She has wings?!? Chonktimous prime, we have to go now!” I mounted Sapphire and she began sprinting away into the jungle, we breached the foliage deep for about half a mile before I jumped off her back and onto a tree branch.
Sapphire, understanding her assignment, sharply turned right and began to make a cacophony of noise and destruction as she ran away. I lamented for a moment, hoping to see Sapphire later than sooner. Just because she couldn’t die, didn’t mean her receiving a mortal injury meant nothing. It still grieved me deeply. She is my little chibi chonk. The one thing in the universe I can truly love unconditionally without the ramifications of potential eternal capture and snu snu.
I didn’t stay long, the woman would be with her whole team, not just on her own. With that knowledge I began tree hopping in the opposite direction. Traversal was slow, but no ground disruption hopefully meant the trackers would have a harder time discerning that I branched off.
…
After an hour of jumping through the jungle with a grace that would make monkeys weep with jealousy, I surmised that I was not being followed anymore. With that in mind I removed my helmet and sat down on a branch and began heaving in the air.
I had superhuman levels of stamina, but even if I could ignore pain, my ribs from Tamara ramming into me were still shattered and the flesh on my back was trying to heal itself, both the serrations and the damaged bones were causing me to sap my nutrients, leaving me exhausted.
I allowed myself five minutes of respite, using that time to meditate to replenish my Psionic reserve. I also decided to destress myself with some casual flirting. ‘You have been quiet my flame, what did you think of my display earlier? Did it heat you up?’
‘Very much indeed, my Kindled. Your ingenuity made my existence quiver. Though a good decision not making it a true star, just a star’s light, you have heat resistance, but there is a limit, for now.’
I frowned upon hearing that, but decided to ask about the paradox later. I couldn’t fall into deep contemplation right now. ‘I’ll take your word on it Sol, but for now why don’t you just be my sexy and fiery cheerleader and keep my morale up?’ I quipped before opening my eyes. Just those five minutes were enough to set me straight.
From the tree I was in, I then dropped to the ground, not needing to cover my tracks anymore and materialised Zircon. I then instructed her to carve a path ahead of me when needed as I followed the map Sapphire had given me.
The map in question was not a visual map, but a scent map that she learnt she could do last night, somehow… However, as good as my sense of smell was, it was still only above good human stock, it was nothing on other species’ However, my suit, being a hive bio-form with no ‘brain’, could translate the scent for me into a visual layup on the lenses. It couldn’t update it, but it had given me an approximate trajectory of where I can find my next location at my request.
The thought tickled me slightly as I ran. Even when I am on my own, my Jewel is still helping me. Such a good buggy wife.’
…
The good bug wife was observing with her individual self through her planet’s crust. Her breaking of real space and pulling the Psionic tendrils towards the black hole her leviathan had fought at had resulted in unforeseen, yet beneficial results. By her calculations, it should have taken much longer before the aftermath of the battle arrived, and yet here it was.
From her understanding of reality, space had collapsed in on itself both from the black hole and her might and as a result, it had paradoxically shortened the tendril travel time. In the words of her favourite existence, she thought. ‘A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.’
As the leviathan began to ascend into the planet’s gravity, chunks of bio-forms that were still alive and capable of flight began to fly off and devour what they could after their Torpor, meanwhile Billions of drones began to emerge from the underground. This required a special touch, The hive needed to evaluate just how much of Prime 4 was gone and what could be salvaged in the new body.
Just as she thought that, the aggravated prime protested once more. “I am not being a ship again! Apollo cannot mate with me like that. I need a small squishy body that he can break in an act of domination. How can he break me when I am so big?”
Jewel ignored her prime, and the agreement of few of the other primes in this regard. They only dared to complain because if they asked Apollo, he would agree in a moment without hesitation, he loved them all after all. But until Apollo was back, Jewel was the continuing leader of the hivemind. And she needed her bio-forms and primes to perform their duties in the way she designed them to function.
However another problem now arose. With the remains here now, she had to work faster to make sure Prime 4’s corpse didn’t go to waste. She had about 262080 minutes before Prime 4’s remaining biomass soured to the point it was only good for consumption and she would have to start over from scratch.
She had already sent her fleets towards her targets, but now she decided to double the numbers. She needed a considerable amount of extra biomass to create the prime. Although she was going against Apollo’s wishes of leaving that galaxy alone until he was done playing, she decided that the original thought of him mating with her head was still a good ‘punishment’ and decided to go through with it.
She needed to collect from all her hunting grounds and on top of the head mating, if Apollo knew she had lost an important part of herself, he would probably be leading the hunts with her…
A collective electric charge of delight spread across all the synapses of each bio-form on the planet at that thought, but Jewel decided against somehow getting that information to Apollo, as the next time she saw him, she wanted to understand more about the gift she was giving him that was still securely protected in the leviathan’s maw…
Jewel is the hunter and everything is her prey!
