Chapter 611: Chapter 559, Feeling Sleepy_1

Daohua prepared the medicine, and Wang Manman couldn’t be of much help. She was sent back to rest early by Daohua last night.

When Wang Manman got up in the morning and had just finished washing up, she saw her young miss rush back inside with a flushed face and was immediately surprised, “Miss, what’s wrong with you?”

Daohua did not respond and ran straight to the bed to lie down. After pounding the bedding for a while, she calmed down some of her embarrassment and propped herself up to say, “Go fetch the wash water for me. After breakfast, we need to return to Ningmen Prefecture.”

Wang Manman looked at Daohua’s still-red cheeks, nodded her head, and quickly turned to get the hot water.

Once she left, Daohua got up and sat in front of the vanity, looking at her own shame-red face, and once again annoyingly covered her face with her hand.

Luckily, Wang Manman came back quickly; otherwise, she would have to scold herself over and over again.

While washing up, Daohua felt that Wang Manman was glancing at her from time to time and felt uneasy about it, so she did not let her serve her any longer, “Go pack our things.”

It was not until breakfast that the flush on Daohua’s face had mostly faded away.

At the dining table, Granny Gu and Gu Jian exchanged amused glances as they looked at an energetic Xiao Yeyang and a listless Daohua.

After eating, Xiao Yeyang said to Granny Gu and Gu Jian, “Grandma, Master Gu, I’m leaving today.”

Daohua added, “I’m also going home to send off my two brothers and will come see you again in a few days.”

Granny Gu was silent and did not speak.

Gu Jian nodded his head, stood up, and headed to the medicine room. He returned quickly with a small red porcelain bottle, “Keep this safe.”

Daohua looked at it curiously, “What kind of medicine is this?”

Gu Jian spoke indifferently, “A poison that kills upon contact.”

Hearing this, Daohua’s extended hand immediately retracted.

Gu Jian looked at Xiao Yeyang, “The sleeping powder that Daohua made is too weak. This poison is stronger, it’s most suitable for dealing with the Tartars.”

Xiao Yeyang took the porcelain bottle, opened it to look, then thanked him, “Thank you, Master Gu.”

Daohua was somewhat worried, “Master, what if it harms our own people? Is there an antidote or something?”

Gu Jian snorted, “Harming our own? Would someone be that foolish?”

Daohua said sheepishly, “I mean, just in case.”

After thinking for a moment, Gu Jian stood up and went back to the medicine room, returning with a small round box about an inch long, pushing it towards Xiao Yeyang, “Inside are three antidotes, use them sparingly. This antidote is difficult to make; many of the ingredients are hard to find.”

Daohua immediately said, “Master, give me the formula, and I’ll collect them.”

Gu Jian glanced at his disciple, “I’ll give it to you later.”

Daohua smiled and also ran to the medicine room. She packed the Ginseng Fortifying Pills she had prepared overnight, and to avoid her third brother, fourth brother, and Xiao Yeyang being apart, she divided them into three portions.

At the fourth quarter of the Chen hour (8:00 AM), Daohua and Xiao Yeyang boarded the boat back to Ningmen Prefecture.

Inside the cabin, Xiao Yeyang held a thumb-sized Ginseng Fortifying Pill with a skeptical look, “Can eating one of these really provide energy for a day or two?”

Having not slept the previous night, Daohua felt drowsy at the moment. She yawned with her hand over her mouth and nodded, “Absolutely, that’s a conservative estimate. If you don’t move around, it might last even longer. Of course, you’ll still feel hungry, but you won’t feel dizzy, weak, or fatigued.”

Xiao Yeyang nodded, carefully put the pill away, and seeing Daohua struggling to stay awake, he said, “Go sleep for a while. I’ll wake you when we arrive at Ningmen Prefecture.”

Daohua shook her head, “No need, I’ll keep you company and talk. I can sleep when I get home.” After saying that, she patted her face and stood up, “Let’s go to the deck. The wind will keep me from feeling drowsy.”

Xiao Yeyang disagreed, “Although it’s spring now, the river breeze is still quite cold. Don’t catch a cold.” He pondered for a moment, “We can go to the stern. It’s sheltered from the wind there.”

Daohua nodded, “Alright.”

At the stern, Daohua, aiming to fight off sleepiness, had Wang Manman brew a pot of tea.

Maybe because she was too tired, even after drinking the tea, Daohua’s eyelids were still heavy.

Seeing her head nodding off bit by bit, Xiao Yeyang stood up, walked over, scooped her up, and then headed to the room in the boat cabin.

Daohua was startled, her sleepiness instantly vanished, “Xiao Yeyang, what are you doing?”

Xiao Yeyang continued walking and replied, “Carrying you to sleep.”
