Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Usually Eating More Pesticides

The elite man didn’t enter the cabin, anxiously waiting outside the cabin door. When Chen Qinghan and I opened the door, he was pacing in place.

Seeing us pushing out four people, he immediately approached, but after realizing Qi Xiuyuan wasn’t among them, he became noticeably more agitated.

"What’s going on with you guys? Is she the only one you haven’t found?"

"She’s more capable than these people, and the ship is so large. We can’t search every room one by one. If you have a special method to find her, go ahead and look." I lazily glanced at him and closed the cabin door again.

The elite man already knew arguing with me was useless. Whatever he said, I had a retort; I didn’t care about his opinion at all.

"I can provide you with direct and indirect evidence of her using witchcraft to harm people over the years. What you photographed last night probably wasn’t clear; I have better ones."

The elite man’s attitude made a complete 180-degree turn. He was indeed anxious, but it seemed my previous guess was wrong. His urgency wasn’t out of concern for Qi Xiuyuan, but because Qi Xiuyuan had another ’meaning’ for him.

"Isn’t it more convenient if she dies in there? Why bother collecting evidence?"

Seeing my unchanged attitude, the elite man added, "She’s using the Black Candle to try to divide your group. I know how to counter it."

I looked at Chen Qinghan, "Our relationship is great; our revolutionary friendship will last forever!"

The elite man first showed a surprised expression, then sighed knowingly, "So you’ve known all along, deliberately exposing weaknesses to her, trying to get evidence of her crime."

I sighed too, "She’s lost in the situation, her feelings blinding her eyes."

When smart people become obsessive, they tend to go down one path blindly, ignoring many details due to impulsiveness.

Since she’s harmed many people, wouldn’t Chen Qinghan, being so smart, become suspicious even if he caught her red-handed?

She thinks of Chen Qinghan too simply, possibly due to preconceived notions, as they grew up together, and in her eyes, Chen Qinghan is still the same as before.

In reality, they’ve often been apart as adults, each with many changes. Chen Qinghan saw it, but she didn’t, or maybe she was deceiving herself, unwilling to accept that Chen Qinghan was drifting further away.

The world never lacks passionate, misguided lovers. Unfortunately, I can’t understand their heart-wrenching, desperate emotions.

"To be honest, she’s been using Gu Worms to threaten people into doing her bidding. I’m just one of them. If you need it, I can help you get a list."

This finally caught Chen Qinghan’s attention. Qi Xiuyuan using witchcraft to drive girls away from Chen Qinghan was something he had long suspected, but using Gu Worms to coerce people was much more serious.

Chen Qinghan asked him what was going on, but the elite man refused to say more unless we first found Qi Xiuyuan, promising to reveal details only then.

I guessed that to remove the Gu poison, we would need Qi Xiuyuan.

So Chen Qinghan and I discussed, deciding that I would continue searching in the cabin while he took the infected for treatment.

The four infected had many wounds on their bodies. It wasn’t just medical staff who had contact with Qi Xiuyuan; the four hypnotized men who rescued her and the elite man had also interacted with her.

They were all fine, so we assumed that the parasitic organism needed wounds on the body’s surface to invade it.

Thus, we only needed to restrict the infected’s movements, avoid getting scratched or bitten by them, or have anyone with existing injuries stay away from them.

This time there were no other infected in the cabin. The elite man followed me inside; he was very eager to see Qi Xiuyuan quickly, probably because the time was almost up.

Gu poison, I heard from an old Tomb Robber, is basically a parasite, in my understanding.

So I thought for a moment and said to the elite man, who was pacing like he needed to pee urgently, "Have you tried taking some deworming medicine?"

The elite man glared at me fiercely. His previously composed elite demeanor was gone, and his forehead was drenched in sweat, indicating that the Gu poison was genuinely about to act up.

"You can glare all you want, but I’m going to say it: you all talk all day about eating green organic food and rejecting pesticide additives, but given the world’s environment, with pollution even in the air, not eating them decreases resistance. If you’d eaten pesticide-tainted vegetables from a young age, maybe that Gu poison in you wouldn’t even survive."

"Can you shut up?" the elite man suddenly roared in a low voice.

His eyes were bloodshot, veins bulged on his forehead, and his body was shaking like a sieve.

"There’s no time left—no—ugh!" he suddenly grabbed his left chest, where the heart is, as if having a heart attack.

"Alright, fine, I’ll go grab her." I shook my head, seeing the elite man collapsing to the ground, curled up and writhing in pain.

Actually, when I passed by a room earlier, I felt a ’sound.’ When I first came in to look for people, I hadn’t ’heard’ it, which means it must’ve moved there while we were out sending the wounded.

What living thing could be on this ship? With no one other than Qi Xiuyuan, it must be her and whatever’s ’inside’ her crawling into that room through the ventilation ducts.

I didn’t rush in to catch her the first moment I discovered her because I was certain she’d try to escape. She must’ve crawled to the outside vent, found it welded shut, and returned, but all the passage safety doors had been locked by us.

So, she randomly hid in a room because she wasn’t feeling great either.

The beings I ’hear’ always have some intelligence, or at least simple ’thoughts.’

The thing with Qi Xiuyuan was clamoring ’hungry hungry hungry,’ like a brat banging a spoon on the table, urging their mom to serve food quickly.

Qi Xiuyuan must be feeling pretty bad right now because even if these creatures have some thoughts, they are fundamentally beast-like and won’t just ’shout’ their hunger.

When I opened that room’s door, it was a small storage space for custodians’ tools and miscellaneous items—a very narrow door. Qi Xiuyuan was curled up in a pile of mops, looking like she’d just been fished out of the water.

But that was all her sweat; she was severely dehydrated, almost turning into a dried fish fillet.

Her mind was clearly unstable, but the most terrifying part was her eyes. Where her eyeballs should’ve been, two snail-like antennae protruded, ’exploring’ around.

They seemed to be trying to find a way out, to escape from this nearly doomed body.

I used a rope to fashion a lasso around her upper body and pulled her out of the storage room.

The thing on her back looked like a big chrysanthemum made of tentacles, curled up there.

With two deadly organisms simultaneously in her body, this is what happened—it must’ve been Godzilla vs. King Kong inside her just moments ago.

I dragged her onto a small cart and pushed it over to the elite man, though I still didn’t know what kind of relationship they had.
