Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Smoky Eye Makeup That Even Beauty Influencers Can’t Recreate

I arrived before Qinghan, so the moment I stepped in, I slipped and fell flat on my butt.

The floor was tiled, and Bi Shi had poured oil on it. She laughed gleefully as she saw me fall.

I was much more considerate than her, quickly warning Qinghan to be careful of the oil on the floor as she came in.

Bi Shi had only poured oil at the entrance. Once it was ignited, the sea spiders wouldn’t approach the doorway. Qinghan jumped over the oily area, and the three of us took different positions, each fighting on our own, waiting for the sea spiders to come in, and then we’d retreat one by one.

But these sea spiders acted crazily; Qinghan and Bi Shi had already retreated, yet they surrounded me tightly, not leaving me any exit.

Alright then, they know to shear a sheep!

I chuckled inwardly, threw a spatula to slam the door shut, which originally had a gap but was now fully closed. I shouted, "I’m lighting the fire," and before anyone outside could respond, I immediately struck the lighter and threw it to the ground.

Then I jumped up, stepping on the sea spiders lunging towards me, using their legs and heads to leap into the ventilation duct above.

The doctor, who was parasitized by the jellyfish, had attacked me by jumping from this vent, so the vent cover was already off.

Flames roared up from the ground, and the sea spiders, unable to reach me, spat several mucus webs that happened to block the vent.

If they had any intelligence, they’d be crying at their own stupidity. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

With the fire burning below them and the webs taking time to clear above, I was safer in the vent. They ran around in panic, climbing the walls, which also had oil and alcohol.

Their claws stepped on oil as they came in, and I felt a sense of triumph, clapping my hands and taunting the sea spiders below, "Serves you right for not wearing shoes!"

The sea spiders’ wails were faint, not even louder than a baby’s cry. Their voices were especially hoarse, and I wondered if the sea intestines could hear their dying cries.

I was pleased for a moment until I realized I couldn’t stay in the vent any longer—the black smoke from the burning sea spiders was drifting upwards, filling the vent.

I turned and crawled deeper, making my way to the food storeroom. Coming out of the storeroom across from the kitchen, I opened the door to see Qinghan about to push open the kitchen door, with Bi Shi blocking it.

"See, I told you she’d be fine, but you didn’t believe me," Bi Shi said smugly, raising her eyebrows when she saw me.

"What happened to your face?" Qinghan turned around, seeing me emerge from the storeroom. His expression barely had time to relax before he stared at my face and asked anxiously.

"What’s wrong?" I reached up to touch my face and felt a layer of black oil. "Oh, it’s from the smoke."

"Tsk-tsk, this smoky make-up is amazing; you could switch careers to become a beauty blogger," Bi Shi said teasingly.

"You should look in the mirror first." I looked at Bi Shi, her hair disheveled, clothes askew, buttons mismatched, and barefoot, resembling a cheating wife caught in the act and rushing to escape.

But the thing beneath the ship didn’t give her time to look in the mirror. The ship swayed again; Qinghan, seeing I was okay, grabbed his sword and rushed to the lower level again.

The sea spiders had come up from the lower level; Bi Shi also mentioned that she encountered them at the bottom of the Ghost Ship, so there might be holes in the lower level of the cruise ship as well.

Qinghan raced against time to go down, presumably to breach the tank before the second wave of attacks began.

I remembered a saying from somewhere: don’t put all your eggs in one basket. What if fire doesn’t work on it?

I paused for a moment, not following Qinghan, and instead walked towards the outside of the cabin. The sea intestines reacted to the explosion below, and they also reacted to the sea spiders burning, indicating they had a special connection.

It wouldn’t give up on revenge against us easily. Maybe it couldn’t kill me, but I hated losing.

Winning and losing is sometimes not just about oneself. If only I survive and Qinghan and Bi Shi die, it would still count as my failure.

This competitive spirit felt familiar, yet somewhat strange. I suppressed the emotion rising in my heart and rushed to the deck at the fastest speed.

The ship continued to lean; the furniture on the cruise was fixed to the ground, but other things weren’t, so as I ran, I could hear various items falling to the ground.

If this continues, the ship really will capsize. I ran out of the cabin, onto the deck, surrounded by a thick fog, unable to see the shadows of other things.

Amid Bi Shi’s shouting, I decisively jumped over the railing and plunged into the icy sea.

In fact, to drive this thing away, it doesn’t need to completely disappear; if we can find its weak point, like an organ like the heart, and make it disappear, that’s enough.

I balanced myself in the water, biting a dagger; when the spray cleared, I opened my eyes.

Afraid I wouldn’t see clearly, I brought a waterproof flashlight with me. When the beam of the flashlight shone, I was a bit surprised because the thing beneath the ship wasn’t as large as I imagined; it was the same size as the bottom of the tanker, like many intestines plastered to the underside of the ship.

I felt puzzled, thinking its size shouldn’t be so small. I swam to the bottom of the ship, getting close to look at those tangled sea intestines.

They all looked the same, like human hair, pulling any strand wouldn’t hurt the root.

But why were they stuck to the bottom of the ship? Just sticking like this, could they capsize the ship?

A thought occurred to me, and I reached out to create a hole among them. The hole made by Karmic Fire burned straight through the ship’s bottom, revealing something similar to intestines inside.

So, the space beneath the ship had already been infiltrated by the sea intestines.

I crawled through the hole in the ship’s bottom, into the pile of sea intestines. In this lowermost place, the sea intestines occupied only a small portion of the space; the rest was taken up by something larger.

That thing looked like a large tumor, filling the entire lower deck cabin, with a fissure at the top from which sea spiders were jumping out, crawling toward the stairs leading to the upper deck.

No wonder the sea spiders were running up from below; they had broken through the bottom of the ship, launching a sneak attack from within.

The sea spiders were hidden within this large tumor. I arrived a bit late; the sea spiders had already all escaped, making Qinghan and them very dangerous now.

I quickly climbed onto the tumor, arriving at the rift. This thing was akin to a troop carrier or like a kangaroo’s pouch.

I extended my hand, palm aimed at the rift, and with a forceful slap to the back of the head, a red light burst forth, turning the rift into a large hole. The tumor trembled suddenly, and the sea intestines on the floor immediately reared up like snakes.

The good news was that this tumor had no regenerative ability; the large hole I burned kept bleeding continuously. Karmic Fire, unlike ordinary fire, wouldn’t scorch things; it only decomposed, and decomposing a part would form a huge wound.

It was now seriously injured; its fury was normal.
