The Informal Tomb Raiding Diary: She is the occupant of the tomb!-Chapter 283 - 261: I’m the Patient (Part 2)
I was listening and felt touched, but why do I feel like they’re making me out to be someone who can’t take care of themselves, like a vegetative patient?
Baozi was fully on board with their assessment. She took on the task given by Qinghan and was ready to treat me like a big baby. Right now, I’m covered with a colorful little quilt she prepared, saying that a patient shouldn’t be exposed to the air conditioning, and even if they are, they need to be covered.
I didn’t know how to explain to them that I’m not the kind of patient they think I am.
Before Qinghan got on the plane, he sent me a message saying the place we’re going to isn’t desolate. He had someone check it out beforehand, and there’s no real danger. So it’s a good opportunity to help the little girl fulfill her wish.
Wen Jing and Shunfeng originally wanted to join another group’s mission, but Qinghan found it too dangerous and was worried they might get into trouble, so he called them over instead.
Wen Jing and Shunfeng thought Qinghan trusted their abilities and felt a bit flattered, so they agreed right away.
Little did they know Qinghan was actually afraid they’d blindly follow others to their deaths and deliberately called them back to keep them safe.
I figured it out too. Qinghan wanted me to babysit, like taking a group of mischievous kids on a picnic.
To say Zhaosi is hiding here, it’s not exactly a remote place. There are villages, towns, and farmland, even a tourist spot. I’m really curious about how she managed to stay hidden without being discovered all this time.
The elusive Zhaosi also sent me a message with her location, telling us to use GPS while driving, and it would lead us straight to her.
I checked the satellite map and found there are buildings over her coordinates. There are lots of ancient tombs over there, so it’s not surprising to see buildings constructed atop them. But maybe the people up there have no idea there’s something alive in the tomb below.
Baozi finished playing the perfect hostess, and Shunfeng brought the car he borrowed from a friend to the hotel’s doorstep.
He said his friend is a travel enthusiast who’s on the road almost year-round. Recently, his friend had health issues and is hospitalized in the Capital, so his car was conveniently available for us to use.
We walked out the restaurant door to see a black RV parked outside. Wen Jing whistled, saying the price of this car could buy a house in a small town.
Shunfeng sheepishly grinned, "You know, with girls around, an RV is more convenient and comfortable."
He put a lot of thought into it, but when he mentioned girls, he was only looking at Baozi, not even sparing a glance my way.
What’s that supposed to mean? If I was the only girl, would you have rented a tractor?
But Baozi didn’t appreciate it. She’s always had unique tastes, and seeing the high-end RV, she looked a bit disappointed. She sighed, saying she thought we’d be riding a top-notch off-road vehicle, traversing dusty plateaus, hiking into lush mountains, visiting long-buried ancient tombs.
"Stop reading so many novels." I mimicked Qinghan’s tone, patting Baozi’s shoulder.
Shunfeng’s thoughtfulness didn’t earn the cute girl’s smile he hoped for. He looked a bit down, but fortunately, Baozi is someone who knows gratitude. Although the car wasn’t what she expected, she genuinely thanked him. It was her first time driving an RV, and the young woman’s curiosity quickly swept away her disappointment.
She drove to the temporary hotel stop to pick up our stuff. Shunfeng helped her, packing bags like we were moving houses, filling the car with loads of things.
Wen Jing laughed, saying she’s planning to live in a tomb and never come out. Baozi said no, these things were prepared for me.
Just now, at the hot pot restaurant, she specifically ordered tonic porridge and chicken soup from a medicinal porridge shop for me to drink in the car. She insisted on covering me with a thin quilt, saying patients are fragile and easily catch a chill.
With her caring for me like this, I felt less like I had indigestion and more like I was in confinement after childbirth.
The RV has a separate bedroom on top that sleeps one person. The sofa and table below can be combined into a big bed, sleeping three people.
Inside there’s a water tank, a waste tank, a bathroom where you can take a shower, and a small kitchen where you can cook with an induction stove.
Everything ready, we set off from the Capital like a bunch of excited kids on a kindergarten field trip, driving away amidst laughter.
The route was set by the map, and there are service areas along the way where we can refill water. As for electricity, there’s no need to charge because there are solar panels on the roof.
Wen Jing and Shunfeng had pulled an all-nighter to make it to the Capital, and didn’t rest well on the plane. By afternoon, they were sleepy, so they put together the big bed for a nap, leaving Baozi to drive.
"Fu, are you really okay with Qinghan going to Sakura?" Baozi whispered after the two started snoring.
