The Invincible Full-Moon System-Chapter 1850: One Absolute Rule
Everything that happened ever since the System made its appearance felt like a dream.
At any moment, Rex was expecting to wake up, especially after achieving his vengeance against Ruston.
He was nothing but a normal human before all of this. Weaklings. Inconsequential. Having this much power should be nothing more than a pipe dream. This must be the illusion from the madness inside his mind, appeasing his soul with the impossible.
Sometimes, Rex feels the soil on his back.
Perhaps he was still lying in that forest, surrounded by the charred carcasses of Ghouls.
Perhaps his dying mind wanted to make him believe that before meeting with his parents, he managed to avenge them when, in reality, there’s nothing for him to give. Dying as cannon fodder—completely sidelined by the grand scheme of the war is his only role.
Sometimes, he misses the moments when everything was slower.
Misses the breakfast his mother made. Misses his father’s word of wisdom. Misses the comforting hug of Mrs. Greene. Misses the banter he had with the others, while he was still protected by the normality provided by the academy.
But when he opened his eyes, the thickness of blood that weighed down his body snapped him to reality.
Like anything in this work, normality has a price.
Poor and unfortunate people who can’t pay the price themselves surrendered their fate to the strong.
And the strong bleed to protect the normality.
Just that sometimes, once the strong reached high enough, their own blood isn’t enough to pay the price anymore. It would come to a point for each one of the strong that they would need to shed their old blood and replace it with a higher currency.
Now, that time has come for Rex.
Right above him, there was a gathering of clouds that are gravitating towards a colossal golden ring.
It dominates the ceiling like a crown.
The underground chamber he was in right now was vast, capacious enough to hold a hundred thousand, even cramped, but the presence of the golden ring made the space feel endless. It rose in layered bands of radiant gold and steel with ancient designs that pulse faintly with otherworldly power.
Divine energy leaks from it in steady torrents.
Pale streams of light spill downward from the inner circumference, pouring onto the floor like a celestial waterfall. The air around the ring shimmers under the pressure of that power—pure and heavy as if the realm itself struggles to contain it.
Lighting coiled and crackled around the structure.
Each zap spreads outward in a wide halo, washing the surroundings in a dim golden glow.
Just as expected, opening the portal to the God Realm is surprisingly easy.
Once one gained their first few divine strands, the gateway to the realm of the Gods is opened to them.
Rex glanced over his shoulder.
Other than Linthia, Davina, and Lilliana, there was also Nivellen behind him. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
She wasn’t looking at him fondly.
Instead, she was looking at him angrily. She was the other one, aside from Linthia, who was against him entering the God Realm, mainly because she thought it was a decision made purely out of anger, not with the reason that was normally required to make such a big decision.
And frankly, Rex doesn’t blame her.
But he learned one thing from making the blood vendetta against Kaiser earlier.
It’s reckless, but I have a chance.
Normally, whenever he was faced with someone who was beyond his capabilities, someone that he had zero chance of beating, the System would intervene and put him into safety. Even the most dominating genius from the annals of time wouldn’t be able to survive a battle against an entity that they have a zero chance of beating.
Such a disparity is deemed unfair for the System.
As long as the chance is not zero, then it’s fair, and the System wouldn’t interfere.
At this point, even if the user dies, the System would probably deem it as a simple natural selection.
So, the fact that the System didn’t block the direct attack from Kaiser earlier could only mean one thing.
He has a chance of winning.
And that’s all Rex needed to make this decision.
Just then, the gate was opened, and two figures entered the chamber with rushed steps.
It was Varya and another Shade Crawler.
Or rather, the last Shade Crawler that hasn’t been turned into a Silverstar.
"I apologize, Your Highness," Varya bowed a little, shame marred her face. "But this is the last one who survived the damned ordeal."
"Hmm," Rex clicked his tongue in displeasure.
But gestured for the Shade Crawler to approach him anyway.
"Royal Black Prince," He went down on one knee. "It is an honor to be given this chance."
"You’re stronger than the other Shade Crawlers," Rex scanned this Shade Crawler, Nash, and was quite surprised that he had the strength of a Divine Spirit. On top of that, he looked older compared to the other Shade Crawlers. Longer fur and sharper eyes. "No wonder you managed to survive the aftershock, unlike your brothers and sisters."
"You flatter me," Nash bowed deeper. "I am simply lucky."
"Still, I have to ask, are you sure you can accept this? You’re an Alpha, after all."
"Alpha or Beta, it doesn’t matter. It’s natural for the strong and the royal to be the Alpha. As long as you send me to kill and let me feed, I can accept this fine."
"If it’s blood and flesh you seek, you’ll be welcomed into my pack."
Rex gestured for him to open his mouth.
He complied and accepted gracefully the blood that dripped from the palm of Rex’s hand as if it were holy water. Knowing how precious the blood was, he did not spill any and endured the overwhelming heat inside as more blood trickled down his throat.
It took a few minutes before he couldn’t absorb more.
Still need one more.
Rex turned away.
Since he was going to the God Realm, he was thinking that he would complete the pack member quota required of the Race Evolution Quest. He probably wouldn’t be able to turn anyone that easily while in the God Realm, so he ought to finish it now.
He could fill the quota with the Shade Crawlers easily, as they have the number.
However, that entity from Chaos killed many of them.
Even now, looking back, the thought chilled him. It was terrifying to know that the entity had probed Rex in an instant. It learned anyone—who was tied to him and attacked them all. And because it hadn’t targeted Rex first, the System never reacted.
It was a bad accident, and now he’s short of one pack member to fill the quota.
Just then, his gaze naturally fell onto Lilliana.
"Do you want to be like your sister?" He asked with a flat tone.
"I thought you were the rough type," Lilliana smiled meaningfully. "Someone who doesn’t question—and only takes."
"Absolutely not," Davina looked at them in complete refusal. "How is it fair she got it when she hadn’t done anything to earn it?"
"Unluckily for you, sister, I did do something to earn it."
"What...? What did you do? You didn’t do anything!"
Rex has no time for this, so he gestured for Lilliana to come and then feed her blood.
He cut his other palm and forced it against Liliana’s mouth. She didn’t fight back and allowed him to do whatever he wanted. Blood flowed into her mouth—and down her throat. She swallowed. Mouthfuls. And through it all, her sister’s stare cut deeper than any blade.
But she couldn’t do anything.
At least not after all the things she said to Rex.
It took longer for Lilliana to reach her limit.
Nash has an average talent, but the mutation that he developed for being inside the Black Rift made him stronger, so he could only endure so much of Rex’s blood. On the other hand, Lilliana is a noble. One that’s a direct bloodline from Duke Lorcan.
She’s not as talented as Davina, but still a genius in her own right.
Eight minutes passed before she reached her limit.
As the two were processing the blood and transforming into a Silverstar, Linthia approached.
Initially, he thought she was going to protest what he was doing.
She is also deserving of becoming a Silverstar.
Rex did not put her into his consideration simply because her role was to become a general, providing diversity to the Clarentium Empire. He wouldn’t make her a Silverstar because of that—and he thought she understood that.
But she approached for an entirely different reason.
"Are you really, really sure about this, Your Majesty?" Linthia asked again.
She had been staring into the world beyond the gateway above, and could sense the endlessness of the realm on the other side. Rex is almost invincible in the Mortal Realm, a powerhouse in the Spirit Realm, but he would be a small pup in the God Realm.
One that would need to be helpless.
It was true that Kaiser had been pushing him around already, but this was still an extreme retaliation.
"Adhara needed my help," Rex answered. His heart still raced at mentioning her situation, but he was calmer now. Aside from already venting out his anger and panic, he now knows what he must do. "And as long as Kaiser and the Lunirich Gods are alive, there can never be peace.
"Are you doubting my abilities?" He raised a brow.
"Your Majesty..." Linthia pressed her eyelids together hard and clenched her fists. "Just come back. I still dream of the day you finally achieved peace. And I also still dream of the day you’d appointed me as the general of the empire."
She paused.
Everything that awaited his return and everything that could be flashed inside her mind.
There are still so many good things that Rex hasn’t felt yet.
"You also still have to come back for her. Your daughter needs a father," Linthia opened her eyes and looked at him directly in the eyes. Her eyes were already glassy. "If things are too hard—come back. You have nothing more to prove."
Rex was surprised at what she had to say.
But perhaps because she’s also a woman, she could feel what the others feel.
Right now, in his eyes, she represented Adhara, Evelyn, Gistella, and Calidora.
And that forced a nod out of him.
"Of course," He assured and held her shoulder. "I’ll only see if I can strike a blowback. If I succeeded, the Lunirich Gods would at least have more to consider before attacking me. I’m not going to push my luck too much."
A smile crept onto Linthia’s face.
That’s exactly what she wanted to hear from him. That he would remain safe.
And he knew that inside.
Rex watched her relief and said nothing more. Let her believe the lie. Let her rest easy.
His intention of going into the God Realm wasn’t only to poke Kaiser, but to deal enormous damage that would cripple the Blood Moon’s power. If chance allowed him to do far more, then he’d also finish Kaiser for good.
Of course, doing something as extreme as that would require him to take risks.
Death is likely.
But since when has death been unlikely in his ascent to power?
There can only be so much he can endure.
Kaiser and the Lunirich Gods had been relentlessly aiming for him through all loopholes.
Those bastards made it clear already that they wouldn’t stop until he and everything he loves are in utter shambles. He’s currently not on their level, but they are wary of him because of the System. And that’s the one thing he could anchor himself to.
And to do that, he would need to go where he could harm the Lunirich Gods.
Rex stared at the gateway above as he exhaled and calmed his nerves.
Linthia didn’t understand, but I do.
His eyes sparkled with clarity, like he could see the truth behind the world itself.
For those of us threading the path of power to claim the very peak, there can be no hesitation or mercy. There is only one absolute rule on this road. It is to kill... or be killed.
