The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 253: Winter party (2)
Chapter 253: Winter party (2)
Hazel became lost in catching up with Alessandra about her trip out of town. The two parted from their husbands as it seemed Tobias and Edgar had some business to take care of.
Hazel enjoyed being near to Alessandra as she walked, looking around at the portraits of Linda’s family.
The duchess had a wonderful talent just like Tobias in calming her. If Alessandra wasn’t present, Hazel couldn’t be so sure that she would enjoy the party. It had to be the same for Tobias as Edgar’s presence brightened up his mood.
"Queen Hazel Castro."
Hazel turned around to see who had approached her and came face to face with a man she knew to be William Lancaster. She didn’t have many interactions with him and she was warned by Tobias to stay far away from him.
All Hazel knew was that there was some kind of talk about William being involved in taking young ladies from their fathers in exchange for paying off debts. He was a slimy kind of man that Hazel didn’t want to get close to but she was at a party with many eyes on her so she had to play nice.
’Why would Grant invite him?’ Hazel wondered.
William was a man that Tobias was seeking to have imprisoned. If she knew that then Grant should too. Why would William be invited by one of Tobias’s allies? Hazel tried to find a reasonable explanation but couldn’t come up with one.
This was Grant’s party so he could invite whoever he wanted, but he had always considered who were enemies of the royal family. Williams’ presence here would be uncomfortable once Tobias knew that he was here.
Hazel glanced at Alessandra to see if she was comfortable with William and to her horror, the duchess appeared shaken up. It was evident that something about William terrified Alessandra.
With their husbands not by their side, Hazel knew to step in to send William away. "William Lancaster, it is a surprise to see you here. I wasn’t aware you attended this kind of party. You are normally absent. My husband and the duke have gone off somewhere with the host if you wish to speak with them. I am having a private conversation with the duchess.
Hazel smiled, trying to pretend like there was nothing wrong as she attempted to send him off. She would be just as scared as Alessandra was based on the things she knew about the man before them.
Had Edgar told Alessandra about the things William did or was there some other kind of history there?
Hazel didn’t like that William ignored her clear way of asking him to leave or how he kept his gaze on Alessandra. Staring at the duchess as though he wanted her as a man wanted his wife. William was playing a dangerous game as Edgar wouldn’t be too far off to come to his wife’s side.
William paid no attention to the queen who didn’t compare to Alessandra. Seeing them side by side, he was able to confirm that Alessandra was the perfect one for him to take. "I am not here for your husbands but to have a word with the duchess. I was a friend of her late father and I have not been able to offer my condolences. I request to have a private chat with her."
Hazel stepped in front of Alessandra just as Alessandra answered, "No."
Even if Alessandra were to want to speak to William, Hazel would have pulled her away from this man. William screamed trouble and Hazel was yet to understand why Grant would want this kind of person at his party.
Hazel wished to find Grant to question him on his choice of a guest and to get him to send William out. She was confused by the history between William and Alessandra but she still tried once more to get William away from Alessandra’s side. "The duchess does not want to speak to you, Lancaster. Please respect her decision and leave us."
William looked at the queen once more. Hazel had her problems she should be focused on instead of being so protective of Alessandra. Why was it taking so long for Hazel to know why she didn’t have a child?
Knowing that it was partly his doing made William happy since Hazel was getting in the way of him getting Alessandra in his hands. Little did Hazel know, she should be happy that he had his eyes set on someone else. It could have been her that he continued to want when Grant was finished with his plans.
"She seems to want nothing to do with her past. Want to know something special, Queen Castro? Before she was meant to marry the duke, Alessandra was supposed to-"
"You!" The duchess stopped William from finishing.
Hazel was confused by the conversation that followed but silently cheered on Alessandra after she decided not to let William get the best of her. Amid Alessandra’s heated talk with William, Hazel had pieced together that Alessandra’s father had offered her to William to end a debt.
This made Hazel angry but that went away when she noticed Edgar coming their way and he did not look happy. Tobias also looked like he could throw a punch.
"What the fuck are you doing near my wife? You truly have a death wish."
Hazel was blocked from being so close to William as Tobias came to stand before her. She was happy that the men had returned as she didn’t like watching William’s interest in Alessandra. This should be enough to get Grant’s attention so where was he?
Hazel wasn’t enjoying how William continued to stare at Alessandra even with Edgar present. It was disgusting knowing he had been in her life for a long time.
Tobias didn’t enjoy seeing William now after his talk with Grant greatly annoyed him. William’s timing was awful as Edgar was heated and William would be the perfect man to hit to get rid of some of that anger. freeweɓnovel.cøm
One thing Tobias knew for certain was that as Karen Henson had said, William was one of Grant’s followers. This gives him the perfect reason to let Edgar go ahead with killing William without looking for more proof surrounding the women he had in his home.
Still, William’s death couldn’t happen before all the guests present. Before Edgar could attack, Tobias said, "It is time you step away William. Your company is not welcome here."
"It seems so," William agreed with the king. He was not in the mood to fight with Edgar just yet. A day would come when they would fight and he would get the duchess but not today. "Please excuse me, Queen and King Castro. Duchess."
Tobias held Edgar before he could hit William for addressing the duchess. William had a death wish and they would soon give it to him. Tobias wasn’t angered when Edgar pushed him as he too would be upset that someone held him back when a man like William was near his wife.
Edgar left the room to try calming down, followed by Alessandra who wanted to help him.
Tobias knew that Alessandra would not succeed alone so he had to join her. "Stay here," he said to Hazel as outside would be too cold for her to stand around. He would stay where she was still in his sight.
Hazel nodded her head. She watched as Tobias went to calm Edgar down, but her attention was elsewhere when she heard Grant’s voice. She found him surrounded by a few men, not caring about the conflict.
"What is he doing?" She questioned.
