Chapter 1659: Chapter 1659: Family? Friendship? Or Love? (Part 1)

It’s a little past seven in the evening, and the sky hasn’t completely darkened yet.

The thirteen classes of the foreign language department had all gathered on the playground, forming a circle that was so lively it seemed ready to lift the entire school off the ground.

Drill instructors and classes would egg each other on, coaxing people to come out and sing or showcase a talent.

This was particularly the case when people were not that familiar with each other yet; the good-looking ones in the class were the easiest targets for teasing.

On stage was a female student from Class 2, singing a currently popular love song. Her voice had a unique quality, adding a special flavor to the song, and Ruan Jiaojiao listened with great interest.

"Your class is up next. Who are you planning to send as a representative?" Ruan Jie asked, sitting on the ground and turning his head.

The class members, hearing this, all looked at each other but remained silent.

"Any volunteers?" Ruan Jie asked.

Once again, they exchanged glances but still didn’t make a sound. After all, they weren’t very acquainted yet, and some were reserved.

"Since there are no volunteers, then let’s make an appointment," Ruan Jie said.

Upon hearing this, many instinctively hunched over, afraid they’d be chosen, except for Zheng Jiaojiao, who straightened her back and looked around. She had learned to dance from a young age, and when Ruan Jie called for volunteers, she had considered stepping forward but didn’t want to appear like she was seeking attention and restrained herself.

Moreover, with Class 3 right next to theirs, she observed a pattern: those appointed by the class or chosen by the drill instructors were usually the best-looking ones, and after looking around, she didn’t think any of the other girls were better-looking than herself. Therefore, she held back, hoping to be elected by her class or singled out by the instructor.

The class consisted mainly of girls, and the first one appointed was Jiang Xun’s name suggested by one girl, and others followed suit.

"Is Jiang Xun okay?" Ruan Jie asked, looking at Jiang Xun.

Casually glancing at a small head in front of him, Jiang Xun nodded.

"Alright, then Jiang Xun. We’re still short one more."

Ruan Jie’s gaze swept around the class but lingered mostly on Ruan Jiaojiao, who immediately gave him a wary glare.

She had never learned to sing or dance from a young age and didn’t have any special talents!

Afraid that Ruan Jie might cause trouble, she quickly used her eyes to threaten him.

However, while she could intimidate Ruan Jie, she couldn’t do the same to the rest of the class. Out of nowhere, someone called out her name, and soon others joined in, coaxing her name, Ruan Jiaojiao. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

It had only been two days since school started, and Jiang Xun was clearly the best-looking among the boys, while Ruan Jiaojiao was among the girls.

Most importantly, Ruan Jiaojiao was quite young, not yet fifteen, making her three to four years younger than the students, who were generally eighteen or nineteen, even twenty years old. In this era of large families, there were typically two or three siblings, so for someone as young and extraordinarily pretty as Ruan Jiaojiao, her older peers felt an instinctive fondness and sibling-like protective nature for her.

So far, most of the students who had interacted with Ruan Jiaojiao liked her, apart from a few exceptions.

"Hahaha, I knew it would be you," Chen Hui prodded Ruan Jiaojiao’s little waist, playfully winking.

Ruan Jiaojiao made a small, troubled face. She’d always been quite laid-back since childhood, only playing with her brothers and, growing up with a delicate health, never learned any skills despite having the financial means.
