The Last King Of Darkness-Chapter 1585 - 750: Decision (Part 2)
The Jinwoosi Society is making every effort to track down the "most evil person," scouring all records and history, leaving no stone unturned, to find traces he might have left in history.
In short, everything is proceeding in an orderly fashion.
Reading through the entire report, everything seems to be going well. Trolian is developing steadily, with every strong individual devoting themselves to cultivation, striving to become new Commanders or Monarch-level forces. The overall combat power is growing rapidly. Based on the report, humanity’s situation is not just improving; it is significantly improving. The future seems bright, and the Black Fog is certain to be eradicated by humanity.
It’s evident that the clerk who wrote the report is a devout admirer of Luo Weiya. Between the lines, there’s a lingering firm belief in victory and immense worship of fire, especially an extreme admiration for Rod, the "Fire Will." The fanaticism has reached an uncontrollable level, to the point where he added many theories and speculations unrelated to the main content at the end of the report. He even suggested, based on the theory of fire, that Rod must have at least 231 children for humanity to attain the "Fire Revival."
Rod was about to put the report aside when his peripheral vision caught sight of a strange line of text at the very end of the report.
"In the crevice, the City of Calamity, there is what you seek."
The text was written in Siggys, the language closest to Divine Language mastered by the Royal City. In the entire Royal City, only Rod and Professor Bins, the great scholar and linguistics expert, could decipher it.
However, isn’t Professor Bins currently at the Jinwoosi Society researching information about the "most evil person"? How could he write this irrelevant message to him?
Rod’s brows immediately furrowed. He quickly contacted the other senior officials who qualified to receive the report, discovering that their copies didn’t have this line of information.
This means it was written specifically for him.
Rod then contacted Professor Bins and quickly got a negative response.
This was expected.
Rod stared at the report, deep in thought.
This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened. Before heading to the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground at Saint Reel, there had also been similar unknown-origin information.
Rod instinctively felt it unlikely to involve the Ancient Evil Thought or Doomsday believers. Since the battle at Great Dragon City, the severely damaged Ark had lain low, its activities ceased, and Doomsday believers had been nowhere to be found in Trolian.
Using a line of text to harm him was unimaginable.
Who on earth could it be? What is their objective?
What does this sentence mean?
"City of Calamity..."
Rod mumbled these words, feeling as if he’d heard them somewhere before. Subconsciously, he called upon the Book of Knowledge.
"Master?" The Book of Knowledge immediately responded.
"Take a look at this."
The Book of Knowledge scanned the Obelisk, seeing the line through his soul.
"City of Calamity?"
Its pages began to flip rapidly, showing its soul was in intense thought.
"Isn’t this an area in the high-level Spirit Realm?"
Rod’s heart jolted: "An area in the high-level Spirit Realm?" He had initially thought it was a location in the Material World.
The Book of Knowledge’s voice was more solemn than ever.
"That’s correct. The high-level Spirit Realm is divided into twelve areas, of which the City of Calamity is one. Controlling these twelve areas allows us to purify the world from the Source."
Rod asked with shock: "But no one knows this kind of knowledge, right?"
The Book of Knowledge waved its pages: "Indeed, outside the Dream Realm, few can fathom the layout of the high-level Spirit Realm. Even Trolian’s understanding is limited, and the Ancient Evil Thought isn’t necessarily clearer than us."
"Then who might have written this?"
The Book of Knowledge fell into contemplation, clearly unable to answer.
Rod stared at the line, muttering: "In the crevice, the City of Calamity, there is what you seek... What could this mean? What does it mean by ’what I seek’?"
The Book of Knowledge slowly flipped through its pages and suddenly shouted.
"I know!"
"Master, I know! I remember now!"
"We’re at a rare junction, adjacent to six high-level Spirit Realm areas. In the distant crevice, one can access the City of Calamity! This is a very hidden location; even I couldn’t recall it at first. It wasn’t until I revisited the junction’s layout that I realized we could access the City of Calamity!"
Rod’s eyes widened, hardly daring to believe what the Book of Knowledge had said:
"How is this possible? I remember you mentioned the City of Calamity before."
The Book of Knowledge explained: "Master, I can only confirm its adjacency to the high-level areas upon actually reaching the junction. I had previously sensed the aura of the City of Calamity, but after entering the junction, I only noticed the other five areas and forgot about it. It seems my initial impression was correct; this junction is the largest, longest, and most complex in the high-level Spirit Realm!"
Rod remained silent for a long time before reluctantly accepting the Book of Knowledge’s words.
"Alright, but what does the final sentence mean? What I seek..."
Before finishing the sentence, a spark flashed in Rod’s mind, and he surmised the answer.
"This..."
Rod froze in place.
What he seeks now is the "Divine Soul," isn’t it?
The text implies that he can obtain the "Divine Soul" in the City of Calamity?
But aren’t the Ancient Gods submerged in the Abyss, why would it be in the high-level Spirit Realm?
Even if after all these millennia they have reached the high-level Spirit Realm, I can’t fight them alone.
No!
No, that’s not right!
Rod furrowed his brow.
Possessing a divine soul doesn’t necessarily mean being a True King or Ancient God.
Subgod, or Demigod as well as spawned divine entities... Divine abominations, and the mythical "limitless monsters," may possess divine souls.
At this moment, Rod’s heart thumped as he looked at the Book of Knowledge, which also looked at him, and in that instant, they both understood they were thinking the same thing.
"Book, do you think Fire Heaven and Fire Will really exist?"
The Book of Knowledge slowly flipped its pages: "Not necessarily, or—I mean, perhaps they do exist, but we cannot prove it."
Rod took a deep breath and asked the most critical question.
"Is this line of text credible?"
No answer came.
The Book of Knowledge dared not answer either.
It was uncertain.
Although the possibility of it being an Ancient Evil Thought plot is low, there is still a one-in-a-million chance.
For instance, what if Ark has acquired the legacy of the Supreme Will? By current standards, it far surpasses the Ancient Gods in potential.
The power of the Ancient Gods is unfathomable.
Is this another trap, another bait? It couldn’t be sure.
As the brain of the Dream Realm (self-proclaimed), the Book of Knowledge was unable to make such a weighty decision. Deep down, it leaned towards not taking the risk. The City of Calamity is a very dangerous and chaotic area in the high-level Spirit Realm. If one encounters the Ancient Gods, or even the older Ancient Gods, the Dream Realm might not escape.
In another broken state, being shattered again, the Dream Realm might take millennia to recover, or even face complete extinction.
In its contemplation, the Book of Knowledge was increasingly inclined not to go.
But just as it was about to speak, Rod spoke.
"Let’s go."
His voice was calm, as if he had made only a minor decision.
The Book of Knowledge hurriedly said: "But..."
"Let’s go."
Rod repeated.
"Immediately change direction and sail toward the crevice, the City of Calamity."
The Book of Knowledge’s pages were so anxious they tangled: "Master! Why? It’s very dangerous!"
Rod said solemnly: "Book, trust me, I have a feeling this is definitely not a trap."
"But what if it is?"
Rod replied with a phrase of his own.
"You can’t hunt a tiger without entering its cave!"
