The Lich of Glory Knight Spirit: Moving towards Krimasha!-Chapter 285 - 31: Adolf’s Secret
Chapter 285: Chapter 31: Adolf’s Secret
After the two finished their discussion, Patia drafted a further contract for them. Adolf glanced over it briefly before signing his name. Once signed, a bank draft worth two hundred thousand Gold Coins was taken out, and Adolf specifically added, "If it’s not enough, let me know, and I’ll add more."
"No," Jones said hastily, holding the draft firmly. "It won’t exceed the budget. I won’t let it go over."
"It’s best if it doesn’t exceed, but even if it does, it’s not a problem," Adolf replied with a smile. "For me, this is just an experiment. Experiments always come with risks, and I’m prepared to take those risks."
Saying this, Adolf turned to look at Adelle. "Young Master Adelle, I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave."
"You’re leaving so soon?" Jones asked.
"Yes, I have other things to handle. Besides, isn’t our business here concluded?"
"If you’re busy, go ahead," Adelle nodded and said. "I’ll take Jones to look around the Chamber of Commerce." frёewebnoѵēl.com
"Alright, I wish you both a pleasant time." With that, Adolf stood up, bowed to Adelle, then to Jones, and turned to leave.
After Adolf left, Adelle spoke softly, "Let me take a look at the bank draft."
Jones hesitated for a moment but handed over the draft.
Taking the draft, Adelle examined it carefully.
"What’s wrong? Is there an issue with the draft?"
"No, there’s no issue. I just wanted to see which bank issued it. It’s not from our Sambo family’s bank." Saying this, Adelle returned the draft to him. "Come, let me take you around the Chamber of Commerce and introduce you to some people. Otherwise, this refinery project of yours—though not enormous—isn’t trivial either and could still face some troubles."
"Alright, thank you," Jones replied softly.
...
Meanwhile, Adolf had already exited the Chamber of Commerce. A carriage awaited him at the entrance.
Climbing into the carriage, Adolf said softly, "Let’s go."
"Hyah!" The goblin coachman cracked the reins, and the carriage began to move slowly along the street.
At that moment, standing at the entrance of the Chamber of Commerce, Adelle’s butler was watching the carriage from a distance.
"Whose carriage is that? Does he have property in Hilde?"
Nearby, one of Adelle’s Blood Clan guards answered softly, "No, the carriage is rented. He’s been staying at an inn."
"Staying at an inn all this time?"
"Yes."
"Any other findings?"
"None directly, but this person indeed raises a lot of questions."
"What do you mean?" The butler turned to face him.
The guard continued, "He almost never leaves his room, staying in the inn all day. Whenever he does venture out, it seems to either involve Young Master Adelle or Young Master Jones. In the past week, he hasn’t stepped outside at all. The curtains in his room remain drawn, and there’s some device within blocking magical detection—preventing us from seeing what goes on inside. Moreover... he specifically instructed the inn not to enter his room without his permission."
"Oh, is that so? A whole week indoors... so how does the inn deliver his food?"
"They don’t. It’s as if he doesn’t need to eat. In fact, if he hadn’t emerged after a week, the innkeeper would have assumed he’d left on a long journey. On top of that, he paid his rent for an entire year in one go."
The butler extended a finger and curled it in a beckoning gesture.
The guard leaned in closer to listen.
In a low voice, the butler said, "Find some people unconnected to us and have them barge in the moment he returns to his room."
"Barge in?" The guard was taken aback.
"Yes," the butler nodded. "See what he’s doing in there."
"But... he’s a friend of Young Master Adelle. Wouldn’t such an action be too discourteous?"
"Extremely discourteous," the butler replied with a faint smile, his tone layered with meaning. "That’s exactly why we can’t use our own men. As for others, well, they’re beyond our control."
The guard blinked several times in realization before nodding. "Understood. I’ll find some people with no ties to the Sambo family—nor myself."
"Go," the butler said with a slight wave of his hand.
"Yes," the guard replied as he glanced around then quietly slipped away, his cloak billowing behind him.
...
"Here, take a look at this. This is a place crucial to the business of our Sambo family." Adelle pushed open a large door.
It revealed a massive room. Inside were rows upon rows of desks, with piles of paperwork on nearly every table. Beside each desk sat a member of the Blood Clan, and at a glance, there were no fewer than a hundred.
Upon seeing Adelle, the people in the room seemed momentarily stunned before hurriedly standing up one by one.
"Welcome, Young Master Adelle," they all said in unison, bowing towards him.
Jones couldn’t help but widen his eyes in astonishment.
"These are the consultants of the Sambo family—more precisely, the advisory council of the Sambo family," Adelle explained, turning to Jones who was following behind him. "Patia also works here."
"Yes, my workstation is here," Patia said, pointing to one of the empty desks.
"In business, the most important thing is information. Deciding where to channel money, goods, and services—all of it requires information. To secure the best services, sell at the highest price, and buy at the lowest price—it all depends on information. Maximizing profits and minimizing costs—still information." Adelle turned slightly to face the advisors and remarked, "For instance, I want to sell gold ore."
