Chapter 22: Chapter 22

*Jax*

I paced around the living contemplating the decision I just made. I don’t know why I thought keeping Leonora in my room would make everything better. There was nothing I could do right now as I’ve already made the decision and she’s probably already seated in the room calculating what she wants to do to me. Kill me? I wouldn’t be surprised but there would be so much at stake for her. She would never be able to live her life on her terms. All the wolves of this pack would be after her. There will be no such thing as peace.

I heard the main door open and I waited for Claire to pass by the living room. She would know how to handle this kind of situation better than I can. As soon as I spotted her, I called out her name causing her to halt. She had a robe covering her body unlike her regular shirt and pants. She walked into the living room, swaying her hips slightly and I noticed that the robe wasn’t tied properly so the neckline slouched a bit, revealing a bit of cleavage. I tried my hardest not to stare.

"Claire. Leonora is in my room." I started and I watched as her facial expression morphed into one of anger. "Before you say anything, she tried sneaking off again and everyone was still on the run." I added, not wanting her to get angrier than she already was. She stared at me for an awfully long time before she turned to leave.

"I’m tired of correcting your stupid decisions. Fix it yourself." She said as she walked away. After every run, there was a euphoric feeling that we all felt and I guess I must have ruined hers. I needed to think of a way to make her feel better and believe that my decision was right. My decision meant that we could do what ever we wanted to Leonora without anyone noticing. It wasn’t a stupid plan. It was brilliant.

I walked back to my room to find Leonora pacing around the room. She had her hair up, exposing her neck. It was extremely inviting and I tried not to look at her as much. "Have you thought of where you’re going to sleep?" I asked causing her to stop in her tracks. She turned over to look at me and I almost smiled at her.

Keyword: Almost.

Claire was right, this was a stupid decision.

"I said have you thought-"

"I heard you the first time!" She interrupted me and I scrunched my eye brow. Why would the moon goddess bless me with someone that was so disrespectful? I really don’t know what came over her. Was it the time she spent in the human world? "I’ll sleep on the floor. Do you have like a blanket or something. Don’t look at me like that. I can’t sleep on the cold hard floor."

"There’s a spare blanket in my closet. Get it and lay it on that side of the room. I do not want you anywhere near my bed and if you try to kill me in my sleep. Everyone will know it was you." I stated to her as I walked over to my bed and sat down. She walked over to my closet and pulled the doors open. She looked at all my clothes before finally settling on the blanked which she pulled out. She hugged it to her chest, feeling the material and humming at the feeling. It felt nice seeing her relax and, in some sort of way, be herself.

She walked over to the corner of the room, I pointed out for her and laid the blanket. She looked around the room before her eyes zeroed at me. She walked over and for a brief second, I thought she was walking over to me, instead, she picked up some pillows and went back to her makeshift bed.

"You haven’t told me my arrangements. What will I be doing while I’m here?" She asked as she laid down on the bed. Honestly, I hadn’t thought that far. I didn’t know what else to tell her so I just laid on my bed staring at the ceiling. After a few minutes, I stretched to the side and turned off the light, causing her to scream and I turned it back on. "Please, I’m scared of the dark." She pleaded and I scoffed. Did she think this wasn’t a punishment? Besides how did she live on her own? I remembered my spies telling me she usually left her lights on but she bought dark out curtains to block the light from filtering out of her room. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"I don’t want to hear one word from you." I sternly said as I closed my eyes. I had to think of what I wanted to do to her because it seemed like nothing was working. I don’t know what her problem was and why she was so hellbent on not accepting my rejection. I just wanted her gone- away from my life. If I even tried to kill her, my wolf would grieve for years and I couldn’t do that to myself. Leonora just needed to understand what was at stake here. It wasn’t some cruel game I wanted to play on her. I needed to secure my pack and my queen had to be someone that would be able to assist me.

"What will happen when I’m on heat." She asked and I realized what I had done. This was really a stupid decision but there was always going to be a way to solve the problem. Its either I send her to another pack or she goes back to her room and never has to step foot outside. I don’t know if that would work- at least, I know it didn’t work when I realized she was my mate. As long as she was in this vicinity, it made my wolf feral and desperate to mate.

I’ve made a stupid decision.
