The Lycan king-Chapter 38
*Jax*
I paced around the conference, my mind racing. I didn’t want to think of the worst case. I knew Leonora was hurting but I don’t think she’s suicidal. I don’t think she would want to harm herself. I had gone down to the staff quarters to look for her a few hours ago. I felt bad for what I said and I finally made up my mind about what I wanted from her. I no longer wanted to deny what I felt for her and I didn’t care if Claire would throw a fit. Leonora was my mate and that’s all that matters. But she wasn’t there.
I walked out of the conference room and walked around aimlessly. I didn’t have a destination. I felt a tap behind me and I turned around. It was that girl. I racked my brain trying to think of her name but nothing was coming to me.
"I heard Leonora is no longer staying with you." She started, licking her lips as she eyed me up. That would have turned me on but after last night with Leonora, my wolf was satiated. Everything she was doing now irritated me. "What time should I come over?" She asked as she took a step forward and placed a hand on my chest.
"Leonora is my mate." I said and my eyes immediately widened. What have I done? I quickly comported myself so that she wouldn’t notice my shock. "You re no longer allowed to even breathe the same air as I do. You will no longer be working in the mansion." I ordered and she gasped. I could see tears form in her eyes. What did she think this was? I already told her the risks of getting involved with me and she gladly accepted.
"Jax, you can’t punish me for having a mate! I promise, I’ll stay out of your way. I won’t ever disturb you. Please don’t send me out of here. Don’t make them put me for pack duties." She said, tears gathering in her eyes. I couldn’t care less whether she cried or not. All I wanted was for my Leonora to come back to me.
I couldn’t believe I said all those things. I don’t think I can stay without her. I don’t know if it’s our mate bond but after we had sex everything I felt amplified. I tried to push the feeling down but as she ran out of my room, my wolf cried out in pain. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
I had tried so hard last night not to mate with her. Every time my lips touched her neck, all I wanted to do was to mark her. I wanted to mark her so that everyone could see that she was mine. I held myself back so many times but now I regret it. I wished I had. Maybe if I did, I would have been able to locate her easier because we would have our mate bond, it would be stronger.
"I’ll do anything." She said as she got to her knees, opening my pants, with shaky hands. I quickly slapped her off me. Was she crazy? "I’m sorry!" Did she think that was the right was to beg me? With sex? Maybe Leonora was right. I had shown everyone that all I had to give and receive was sex. It wasn’t true. I wanted to give Leonora more than that but she was nowhere to be found.
"Get out of my sight." I said as she picked herself up and ran. Good. All that was on my mind was Leonora and I didn’t want her disturbing me. I walked back to the conference room to meet two guards waiting for me. I had sent them to search for Leonora and I was hoping they would have some good news.
I quickly took a seat and took in a deep breath. "Have you found her?" I asked and they looked at each other. Something felt off. "Tell me! What are you waiting for?"
"King Jax." They both took a bow and stood up straight. The first guard took a step forward and bowed a bit. "Sir, Leonora is dead."
Everything became silent after that. The man in front of me was talking but I wasn’t hearing. All I could think about was my last conversation with Leonora. I should have said the right things. I should have just opened up. I should have told her how she made me feel. I should have done the right thing. I don’t think I could ever feel this way for someone else.
But why could I still sense her? I could still sense her. She wasn’t so far away. When she moved to the city, I wasn’t able to sense her but I could tell she was alive. I could feel it. His time, I was still sensing her presence. It was as strong as when she was laying beside me but it was still there.
"Find Leonora." I said, pulling myself back to reality. They both looked at me like I had two heads. "Go out there and find her. Find my Mate! She’s still alive."
"Sir, that’s what we were trying to say. We saw her being chased by an assassin. We were told that you sent him. We also saw her falling down the cliff. I’m so sorry sir." The man explained and I frowned. I never sent anyone after Leonora. Why would I? Why would I?
"I said find Leonora. Do you know what it is for your Queen to be missing? Under your watch?" I shouted in anger, slamming my fist on the table to release some anger. "I can still sense her. She’s still alive. Go out there and find her. I don’t care if you go to The Cave. Make sure you find my mate."
"Yes Sir." They said, running out of the room. If Leonora was by the cliff, its also possible that someone from the cave could have rescued her.
But no one knew where the cave was.
