Chapter 138: Chapter 126: Severing the Root of Trouble

This time, he won’t wake up until he sleeps another one or two hours.

Finding a nearby haystack, he stuffed the person inside and hid him well. Only then did Lin Miao clap his hands and use the "Wild Goose Flight" technique, heading towards the manor.

No one stopped him along the way.

Si Miaoxue had resolved any potential troubles along the path; those people were too weak and didn’t even catch a glimpse of Si Miaoxue before they were sent on their way to King Yama.

Deep inside the manor, within a courtyard.

The injured Du Ziyu stayed at the door with four guards, chatting and laughing casually, clearly very relaxed, indicating Mr. Xue was inside, up to no good.

Mr. Xue was indeed up to no good.

But before he could act, Si Miaoxue, draped in a black-red cloak and masked with black gauze, blocked his path.

Though Mr. Xue was also a martial artist with Bone Forging Realm lower grade skill, he was physically exhausted and relied on drugs for excitement.

Startled, he opened his mouth to call for help, but Si Miaoxue quickly knocked him out, wrapped the unconscious Sun Youwei, and easily jumped over the wall to leave.

Seeing Si Miaoxue had quietly rescued the senior sister, Lin Miao rounded the small courtyard to meet up.

"That beast didn’t touch a finger of senior sister, did he?"

"No, rest assured, I was hiding under his carriage, and he didn’t notice along the way."

"What about the time you were away?"

"He isn’t capable; he needs medication, and without its effects, you know..."

"How do you know?"

"I used to run a brothel, familiar with such drugs; without some ailment, why take them?"

"Mr. Xue expelled his Green Blade Sect guards to do wrong, making it easy for me, as per your instructions, I didn’t kill him. So what’s next?"

"Killing him now would bring trouble and isn’t worth it. I’ll definitely kill Mr. Xue eventually, but I won’t let him off easy; he deserves a memorable lesson." Lin Miao had calmed down now. Though he wished to kill Mr. Xue immediately, doing so would force him to flee Dongshan City with his senior sister, leading a wandering life, one he could endure, but his senior sister could not handle such turmoil.

"How do you plan to proceed?"

"What do you think if I remove that troublesome root for him?"

"That’s harsh, he’s already incapacitated, and if no one finds out, he might die..." Si Miaoxue exclaimed.

"No, my technique ensures it’s quick and painless without death." Lin Miao chuckled menacingly, "I’ll ensure he can never harm women again."

Lin Miao returned the same way, bringing the person Si Miaoxue had subdued, retracing Si Miaoxue’s path back.

After staring at Mr. Xue on the ground for a while, Lin Miao finally shifted his gaze, emptied a pill, thought about it, and returned half.

Shoving half a pill into Mr. Xue’s mouth, he poured cold water down his throat.

"Mr. Xue, I intended to end you with a blade, but that’d be too easy. As a physician, anesthesia is essential before surgery. Even with someone like you, I follow professional ethics. You should be thankful."

"Due to limited conditions, I can’t sterilize. Keep it simple, remove the troublesome root, ensuring future joy without worry, for your own good."

"Tsk, just this little worm..." He untied the pants and gently lifted the knife.

Not worthy of appreciation.

The hand rises, the knife falls.

Lin Miao quickly pierced a few acupoints, slowing the bleeding, and wiped his hands with a towel, stuffing it into Mr. Xue’s pocket, erasing all traces and swiftly leaving the same way.

"Is it done?"

"Mm, settled." Lin Miao and Si Miaoxue met up in a forest outside the manor. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"Did you really castrate Mr. Xue?"

"Mm, otherwise, what else? Sparing him is already merciful; leaving him that tool would continue to harm other girls. I’m acting on behalf of justice." Lin Miao stated.

"Let’s return. You take senior sister back; I can’t have records entering or leaving the city, otherwise, it’s troublesome once discovered."

"Without city exit records, won’t they still suspect you?"

"Just suspicion; suspicion alone can’t convict, besides, I’m currently undergoing the ’Sacred Path’ trial. During this year, I’m protected by imperial law; no one can act against me without concrete evidence." Lin Miao said.

"Why not just kill Mr. Xue more decisively?"

"It’s different; with him alive, things won’t escalate. Marquis Lingyang has more than just Mr. Xue as a son." Lin Miao explained, "With Mr. Xue’s deeds, would he dare publicly address it, dare to report to the Arresting Department and cause a scandal?"

"Are you sure Marquis Lingyang’s Mansion won’t report, yet you let me kill so many?"

"These people aid the wicked, deserving death. Were it not for the risk of alerting others and complicating escape, I’d consider killing Green Blade Sect’s people too!" Lin Miao stated, "Relax, they won’t report."

"Green Blade Sect is notoriously vengeful; you’ve injured Du Ziyu, be wary of their retaliation." Si Miaoxue warned.

"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. Hurry back, or we’ll face trouble if the city gates close." Lin Miao urged.

...

At Shanglin Temple, inside the abbot’s chamber.

Faming and several martial monks knelt before an elderly monk, whose eyebrows and beard were entirely white, certainly at least seventy years old.

"Senior Brother, we were deceived too; Mr. Xue produced an imperial arrest warrant demanding our cooperation. How could I refuse..." Faming knelt there, lamenting to argue for himself.

"Silence! Shanglin Temple is a place beyond the mundane, unfit to meddle in worldly affairs. You assist the wicked, tarnishing the monastery’s reputation; it’s unforgivable!" Criticized a middle-aged monk beside the elder monk, his face red with wrath.

"As for you, despite Faming being your uncle, his actions clearly violate Buddhist precepts; why didn’t you counsel or warn him?"

The martial monks involved, all of the ’Guang’ generation, shamefully lowered their heads.

"Faming, you will face the wall in Cliff Cave for ten years, barred from leaving without cause!" The elder monk finally spoke, announcing Faming’s punishment.

"Senior Brother, ten years of repentance is too severe!"

"I reckon ten years is too short; even twenty wouldn’t suffice!"

Faming’s face fell, spending ten years in Cliff Cave, a miserable place; damp and gloomy without sight of day, worse than prison!

"Had anything happened to that young lady today, it’d be a great disaster for Shanglin Temple!" The elder monk declared, "We must accept punishment for our errors. Fahai, go to Marquis Lingyang’s Mansion and ensure the safe return of Mr. Lin’s senior sister."

"Yes, Senior Brother, but if Mr. Lin’s senior sister..." the monk named Fahai replied.

"If it’s so, then the enmity is certainly deep-rooted."

"Shanglin Temple faces this calamity, Amitabha." The elder monk closed his eyes and chanted a Buddhist invocation, ending the conversation.

(A few extraneous words related to the plot: Actually, writing this plot of using the senior sister as bait in a setup to lure the enemy was quite stressful because a prior book had a similar scenario. Though not designed by the protagonist, the female lead was kidnapped, nearly violated, and was fiercely criticized (called a ’green hat’). As the protagonist needed to feign weakness due to certain objective reasons, he didn’t avenge immediately but compromised, earning severe flak. Writing such a scenario now, I fear readers may reject it, thinking the protagonist is too weak; vengeance should be swift, like the saying goes, "A gentleman’s revenge is never late by ten years," implying excuses. Honestly, I’d like it more straightforward, but what about subsequent plot? I’m writing a non-invincible story, requiring logic and scrutiny, right? What do you think?)
